I noticed that as well, oz. Maybe they're just playing it safe for legality issues.

Why Do Former Atheist Scholars Turn Deist Or Theist?
by Bubblegum Apotheosis inatheist becomes theistexclusive interview with former atheist antony flew.
http://www.biola.edu/antonyflew/index.cfm .
what changed in anthony flew's mind that moved him into thinking there might be a god?

My dad uses Flew in one of his talks. The point being 'even established atheists have come to realise there is a creator!'.
But Q is right, people change all the time. And our own opinions and beliefs shouldn't be swayed just because someone we like has changed their mind. We have to stick to the evidence and wherever that leads. Atheism shouldn't be followed for a figurehead.

Just got this in my Sub-box, looks quite interesting.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fToL5mQ3iUw&feature=plcp
From the blurb:
TRUTH BE TOLD is a new feature-length documentary film about growing up in the Jehovah's Witnesses religion. The title refers to the tendency by Jehovah's Witnesses to regard their beliefs exclusively as 'the truth.'
The documentary is not an indictment of religion but rather a retrospective. In a series of informal interviews, former Jehovah's Witnesses discuss life experiences within the organization including the impact the religion had on their childhood and family, schooling, adolescence, and approaches to dating and marriage.
The film also explores how being raised in the Jehovah's Witnesses religion has shaped their current spiritual beliefs and attitudes.

THE NINE INCH NAILS...

Love NIN. Got into them pretty late.
Downward Spiral is a great album, but Right Where it Belongs is my fave. It fitted perfectly what I felt when I was thinking about leaving.
What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection
Is it all you want it to be?
What if you could look right through the cracks?
Would you find yourself
Find yourself afraid to see? -

God's Perfect Creation
by MrFreeze inso, one of the main things that jw's teach is that when god first created everything, it was all perfect.
no flaws in his creation.
that is until you realize that the wt reasons that adam and even knew what death was because the animals died.

I think it would have been pretty cool to have undying animals.
1. It would make a clear distinction between man and animal, thus showing mans obvious imperfect state compared with the rest of nature.
2. I think over thousands of years, animals would have developed the ability to talk, and would be super intelligent. It'd be like some Chinese animated film.
3. Some people would start worshipping these animals as gods, becoming one with nature and doing all kindsa freaky stuff.

Dumbest crazy YEARBOOK experience ever...talking demonic snake silenced by Witness!!
by Witness 007 ini loved reading the yearbook each year as soon as it came out....lots of encouraging experiences and they were all true of course, like this one from africa..... yearbook 1967 p.105 "a large crowd was following a man who had a talking serpent {like the muppets}...the serpent gave greetings and spoke in foreign tongues {college educated maybe}....a brother passing by went into the house, as soon as he did the serpent stopped talking.
the man cried out "a magican has entered the room.
" the brother asked the man "is that a serpent or a demon that has spoken to you?...not one serpent has ever spoken except the one in the garden of eden"...seeing that the serpent remained silent the man left the house....he was anxious later to get some literature....".

So the witness never actually heard the snake talk. He got his info from hearsay of other people who claimed the snake was talking, and as soon as he appears the snake never speaks again.
I can turn invisible, you know. But only when people aren't looking.

Even intelligent people suffer from delusions
by baltar447 inwarning, this is a highly agnostic/non-believer type thread, i'm not interested in debating believers sorry.. .
ok, so my wife has a friend through a meetup group, very nice, very generous, an md.
very smart, well educated and then they started talking religion.

You just have to remember that atheists/agnostics are still a minority. There are plenty of intelligent people with spiritual beliefs, mainly because they don't hold those beliefs to as high a standard of scrutiny as other things in their life.

by lola28 inhello old friends, i've been thinking about going back and need you all to give me your thoughts on it.. the last year has been a horribe one for me, in the span of less than a year the following things have happened to me:.
lost my mom to cancergot hit by a carhad a professional set back that will cost over 600k to resolveended a three and a half year relationshipit just feels like every time i think things are going to get better something else hits me and knocks me down, a small part of me wonders wether i brought all these things on myself because i left the organization (yes i know how silly that sounds) and i have given serious thought about going back.
i need you guys to talk me out of it!.

Going back to the meetings will not save you from problems in the future. Nor will it alleviate the problems you have now. What you do need are people around you, people that love you whatever your religion. You won't find that in the Kingdom Hall until you reimmerse yourself, mentally and physically. I'm sorry you are going through some hard times right now, but take your time and think about things. Reason this out for yourself, I hope you see the light.

The magazines are freely handed out, how can they start suing people for using text/images from a free publication? Add the fact that Youtube is a centre for free speech, I don't see how this would work for WT. They don't have a case.

You probably won't get Sparlock his own page on wikipedia. Just add it to an already existing JW page.
