I came in this post because I wondered what the point would be. In my mind I said,"this thread has been done before...there must be some new light on the subject...I go see...". Nope. Nada. Zilch. After this post we will let it sink to the bottom.

Words that were ok to use as a witness
by jamesmahon inthis follows on from the other thread on michael jackson and an earlier one this morning.
sufficiently different to start a new thread i thought though.. on the mj thread i had a bit of a poke at glander and used a load of anti-gay terms.
what i thought was interesting was that they were all terms that i used to use as a witness.

I messed myself up...
by MC RubberMallet inthe past few weeks have been hectic.. but i went through an experience that has messed me up since.. i met up with an old friend one day who i know went apostate.
it was a really bad day for me, which was really bad for me since i've been taking ttatt as a speed bump but still moving along in life with an ok adjustment.
he since brought a really nice house, cars, new job, everything he always wanted without feeling guilt.

Steer clear of that stuff. Marijuana is a far milder high. I always feels in control with marijuana. Gives me a sense of clarity. But salvia and synthetics I have tried are bad news. Truly mind altering. Try a good Canibus Sativa for your first experience. Indica will just put you to sleep so where's the fun in that.

What are the titles of the Congregation Elders?
by VM44 inwhat are the titles currently being usined for the congregational elders?.
"presiding overseer" was one title that was used for a long time, but i know that was changed awhile ago.. are they even called "overseers" anymore?.
what was the reason for the change?.

Go for it. Get reinstated. It will make life much easier. It's easy to know what to tell them. Say what they want to hear, make sad faces, slouch in your seat so you look ashamed, maintain eye contact when saying anything of substance....we all know the drill. These guys can't read hearts and you probably have an aight heart anyway, but who are they or we to judge. Reinstatement will make life easier for everyone involved...then fade if need be.

how do i start friendships with people i knew (sort of) for years, who i was trying to convince that the end is coming soon?

I found value in making a list because it made me evaluate so many relationships. I also still had individuals that I didn't treat so hot that I realized I will not apologize to. I treat everyone better than I did when I was hardcore JW but not everyone qualified for a formal apology. You will find that most people, outside the org, are not just sitting around judging our every move like witnesses do. So an apology is very much appreciated and most will move on and base their future with you on your future treatment if them. Simple.

I had a similar struggle. Mine was with people in the congregation mostly tho but in theory I think the course I chose will work for you. I made a basic list in my head of the people I felt I had treated inappropriately; looked for opportunity(without forcing circumstances); and then straight apologized with no reservations. Most I told something to the effect that "my thinking and views on many thing have changed and as that change has occurred I could see the error in how I viewed and treated them. I don't know why I thought or acted that way but I'm sorry and will always treat you with dignity, concern and love. I'm sorry. Cheers"
