I'm sorry but the Dark Knight, the Batman movie from a few years ago that the OP was talking about, was an AWESOME movie. You really should watch it and form your own opinion. The way they carry out the violence isnt gorey. Kinda like how you said Transformers is. On top of that, the hero Batman, has a no guns no killing policy. That movie is so much more than the action that comprises parts of it. It delves into aspects of human nature, why we do what we do. Complications of right and wrong being viewed in absolutes, justice, honor, love, emotional damage, politics, making choices for the greater good, self sacrifice and of course some cool technology(if you're into that kinda stuff). Dark Knight is a well crafted movie that sets the standard for how a superhero movie can be done in a serious manner.

Horrific Violence in Today's Movies.
by ohiocowboy ini found an article today that discusses the new batman movie.
growing up, i remember the batman and robin tv show from the 1960's, and i assumed that the dark knight movies would be along the same lines.

Congregation Funds
by EmptyInside ini don't claim to understand anything about finance.
but,i remember about three years ago , the congregation was asked to allow the society to hold onto the savings,cd,etc, until the congregation needed it.
i forget the reasoning they gave on the matter, maybe the society would collect interests on it.

I will happily provide my PayPal or bank account info to any and all that would like to place their surplus funds with me for safe keeping. This arrangement has the advantage of being FDIC insured and will NOT be used to further Watchtower interests.

The Question you have been waiting for.....!
by Terry insomebody you think you know well enough to trust writes you a big check.. the check bounces.. they don't exactly apologize, but, give a plausible explanation.. they then write you another check on a different account.. since you believe them very trustworthy you accept it graciously.. .
on the strength of their reputation and assurances you deposit the check in your own account.. from there you proceed to pay for various necessities, mortgage payment, insurance and childcare expenses.. the check bounces again!.
your checks, consquently, also bounce!.

Terry,
You know the answer you will get on this forum.
We have all stopped accepting checks from this source. We attempt damage control to our reputation and credibility as much as possible.

The Pharisaical Laws of JW's
by Emery ini remember hearing from a former elder of a situation he found himself in while conducting the old weekly bible study.
that morning only one male was present during the morning study, however that brother forgot his tie.
under instruction from the slave, any brother not properly dressed for a meeting is not to have any congregation priviledges (hold mics, talk, attendent, magazines, reading).

I can confirm the suit rule but it's flexible. We had a visiting speaker from the country and he wore slacks and a sports coat with no issue. But the entire body ragged him for weeks. Behind his back of couse.
My list of pharisical rules includes. It not limited to:
No beards
No oral sex
Turning in time
Dating rules (chaperon, public displays of affection etc)
Acceptable reasons to separate from marriage mate
