Thanks for clarifying Waiting. I was just being a bit sarchastic regarding past conversations we've had on the subject. I can appreciate what you say about the politics of being a single mom in the truth. Such a shame really.

i saw this interesting post on h20.
most publishers are unaware how things really work many times in the back room of a kingdom hall.
sure there are lenient elders, many do try to show mercy.

You know Waiting, it always comes down to being cute doesn't it? I've never seen the likes of a 50 year old woman so obsessed with being cute. LOL

I saw this interesting post on H20. Most publishers are unaware how things really work many times in the back room of a Kingdom Hall. Sure there are lenient elders, many do try to show mercy. Many times though, it is the luck of the draw depending on the makeup of your local elder body and the charges you face and how you decide to cry yourself that makes or breaks whether you are DFed or not.
Now some might believe things most often take place according to the Society's guidelines, but those guidelines offer alot of lattitude between mercy and harshness and there is no one or nothing that can prove whether they were followed or not behind closed doors.
I personally know this happens alot. Perhaps most are well meaning, but i think because of this overzealousness to do whats right, they often end up overstepping their own guidelines and forget the whole intent is to gain back their brother, not to punish them.
I would suggest people perhaps considering alot of advice and weighing out things carefully before attending any meetings with elders, especially related to any "doubts" you might have. [url] http://www.cyberpass.net/~h2o/wwwboard/messages/304689.html[/url]

kind of a sad but inevitable end to a special and unique place on the net.
free speech is severely limited in the truth, and the wide range of opinion and viewpoint between the old school and the new school i'm sure made operating such a site a challenge.. for me the most facinating thing was the way one could see thinking troubled witnesses contrasted with the ones who were the mindless products of an organization.
i think it was a valuable window into the worldwide picture of what is happening today in the religion.. the site was helpful to me, and for that it holds a special place with me.
As for your question Jonny, you will find that most opposition on the net comes when there is too much security, no free speech and thought.
I don't think this is a problem here. Troublemakers usually just leave when you don't respond to them.
I don't think there are as many "opposers" as we like to believe sometimes. Sometimes people are just in a difficult place, trying to make sense of things or looking for that freedom to serve God with a clear conscience.
You might find even yourself "opposing" people who do not share your view. Many times when we label someone an "opposer" it is actually us who is doing the opposing.

i'm new here, having come after the shut down of witnet... i've been a "lurker" for a while, and figured i should introduce myself.
(and path has been bugging me to post, lol) hopefully i'll be able to add something to conversation.
it's nice to find a site where free speech is cool.... looking forward to meeting all of u:)
Hi moody. So nice of you to join [despite my "bugging"?? what??]
I think you'll fit in fine here. You have much in common with many here. There are lots of moody people. LOL
I know its not busy like witnet, but you'll see that there are probably benefits to a smaller, tighter group.
Anyway, welcome again, friend.

One of canada's Biggest bands is Our Lady Peace. Here's a great song from their just released album "Spiritual Machines"
Life*How many times have you been pushed around
Was anybody there?
Did anybody care?
How many times have your friends let you down
Was anybody there?
Did anybody stare?
[little musical break thingie]
How many times have you been pushed around
Open up your heart
And open up your mind
And how many times have your friends let you down
Is anybody safe
Does anybody pray
Life is waiting for you
So messed up but we're alive
Life is waiting for you
So messed up but we'll survive
[Spooky Raine noises... doo doo doo ooOOooOOoo, etc]
How many days have you just slept away
Did everybody hide
Is everyone afraid
And how many times have your friends let you down
Have they ever seen your heart
Have they ever seen your pain
Life is waiting for you
So messed up but we're alive
Life is waiting for you
So messed up but we'll surviveShe is high, she is lost
She is drowned by the cost
Twice a day, once a week, not a lie...
(previous 3 lines x2)Life is waiting for you
So messed up but we're alive
Life is waiting for you
So messed up but we'll survive
Life is waiting for you
So messed up but we're alive
Life is waiting for you
So messed up but we're alive
So messed up but we'll survive
So messed up but we're alive
It's all messed up but we'll, but we'll
Survive

it that time of the year, for me anyway, that i start to look back on the the past year's events, where i've been and where i'm going.
its certainly been both the best and also the most difficult year of my life so far.
definitely a turning point.. i can't say i've had any regrets this year.

I can't say i've had any regrets this year. Perhaps the only regret I have is that i wish this year had happened long ago. But the timing is right, and i sense that it was right for alot of people here too who have made or are making tough decisions in accord with their conscience.
Its been a pleasure to meet many of you through email and icq as well as through your comments on the board. Special thanks to Simon for recognizing a need and providing this site. Without the support of many friends it would have been terribly hard, so i thank you all.
As i've stated in the past, as difficult as its been, i'm feeling better than i've ever felt and look forward to whatever 2001 brings. I hope you all had a good year and wish you well in 2001.
