if someone disassociated themselves from the watchtower society due to research that convinced them that the watchtower was erroneous on many issues and yet still felt convinced that jehovah is much more gracious with regards to salvation than what we learned through the watchtower, is it possible for such a one to get reinstated, even if they did not believe numerous things that the watchtower teaches?.

it indicates that there is a sectarian influence within the organization up until the time that Christ removes "all person doing lawlessness." Since such a divisive influence is not commonly recognized in the Society presently, it makes everyone more susceptible to it.

And this "sectarian influence" is to be allowed to stay, unhindered, until the Lord acts? Does one keep cancer cells within their body, unhindered, if it's medically possibly (and safe) to remove or treat them?

On a related note...it's been said some apostate in Bethel has been putting pagan images in the magazines. If so,

Why hasn't this person been identified?
Why haven't they been disciplined?
Is this person more powerful than the GB or the WBTS?
Is this person more powerful than Jehovah Himself?
If not, then perhaps Jehovah wants him in there doing this?
If so, perhaps this "apostate" has it down and you guys are the real apostates?

And just why isn't this influence "commonly recognized?" You guys asleep at the switch again?

The modern-day sect's issues with the Watchtower are: 1914, blood transfusions, and disfellowshipping, etc.

That "etc." covers a multitude (pun intended) of other subjects like pedophilia, the UN, Mexico/Malawi, 1975 and other botched predictions, to name a few.

it would be wise on your part to make sure that you have not fallen victim to the evil influence of the modern day sect of Nicolaus.

Translation: don't consider there are two sides to every story and allow common sense to interfere with your "ignorance is bliss" mode of living.

humbly trust God to set all matters straight within his organization.

Don't rock the boat by going to the authorities about child-molesting allegations. `Course if you do, we'll kick your sorry butt out and who will you associate with then, you filthy apostate vomit-dwelling dog? But, it's your choice. And have a nice day.

doing the "fade" thing is like a slow, painful torture to me.

i have to do the fade because of my current circumstances (wife being a jw but starting to doubt/both our families very strong jw's).

it makes me angry at having wasted so much time and energy (and money) being a jw.

I am afraid it will take years before I can get over it(if that is really possible). I get upset with myself if I hear some news report and it automatically comes to mind "oh..it really is the time of the end". Anyone else experience this?

I started doing this in 1984, a few years after I was d'f. The rise of the Moral Majority was the event I looked to begin "the big A" but I overlooked that it would take more than them to do it.

Now that I see the antics of the Taliban, American fundamentalists, and the WBTS, it makes their conclusions seem more believeable about "Babylon the Great" (in the WBTS's case, a self-fulfilling prophecy maybe? What a downer for them if that's the first one they get right and it turns out God lumped them in with Christendom).

Several people here speak highly of a book by Steve(?) Hassan called "Combatting Cult Mind Control" and Ray Franz's book "Crisis of Conscience." Many times Amazon doesn't have these titles in stock, so people are told to try http://www.commentarypress.com for a copy. I've also found listings for CofC on www.abebooks.com too. Prices are better than Amazon's many times on both sites. They might be very helpful to you.

No need to be upset when you automatically make that connection with news events. A soldier can have "flashbacks" for years and automatically react to certain sights, sounds, or smells that remind s/he of wartime experiences.

God is part of our culture.

Huh?

That's why we treated every other nationality/religious/ethic group the way we have, starting with the original inhabitants? That's why we interned Japanese-Americans on mere suspicion of disloyalty? That's why we had slavery? That's why the churches blessed boys going overseas to kill fellow (fill in your favorite religion here)?

I'm not saying America doesn't have virtues. But our robes aren't spotless. No nation's is.

God isn't a major part of our culture or we wouldn't worship the State more than Him.

it's fairly obvious to me that this is a huge scam, but i have to wonder how many people have fallen for it.

Wish their was a way to stop receiving this stuff!

Have you tried a filter looking for "Nigeria" or other keywords in the body of incoming e-mails?

If you have but it does not work, you might try some of the sarcastic responses others have suggested. Of course then they know it's an active e-mail account and who knows who all will know that in time?

Plum--nice outfit! Maybe someone could start a "warrior ladies" picture thread!

i was out tonite, unusual for me, since i now have this child that i adore and spend every waking minute with.

i had an awesome time.

what is weird is that i thought about getting on this computer when i came home.

You know, it's like why do some people prefer third shift? This time of night, or topic, just seems to attract a different type.

I've worked third for eight years now. When I get off work, the lines are less at gas stations, stores, banks, and especially the post office. It's been said you never really get used to it, but you adapt.

I keep that same schedule on my days off too (for my health) and I am a little leery about sunlight. Can't shapeshift and my control over lower life forms doesn't work as well. A real bitch on summer nights when mosquitos start biting and the sun isn't down yet.

If this is just a coincidence, the odds in favor of the similarity in wording on so many topics (and the topics themselves) are so small that it's hard not to put faith (no pun intended) in other explanations.

After all, they (like the LDS) believe the Bible alone isn't enough to know God, they've missed prophecies, keep their past hidden from the "elect," and so on.

That very first quote about Russell:

my wife hit a deer while driving her new vw passat with less than 300 miles on it.

thats the car with the 300 miles on it.

we dont know how many miles the deer had on it at the time of collision.

Ditto Ohio. My wife's a police scanner enthusiast and she says the number of car-deer collisions is up this year. IIRC the limit on deer allowed killed during this year's hunting season had been raised...apparently not enough.
