  Parallels to North Korea

  no, i'm not just talking about the totalitarian regime that is the organisation.

  i'm talking about how the jw's will fall, and how it links to north korea.

  basically, last night i was watching a documentary on north korea.

  But don't forget why these regimes don't fall for a lot of years.

  There's no only the leader nor the leadership group. There are people who owe everything they have to the regime: ministers, high civil servants, their families, corrupt party members who benefit from the situation. And all the power they enjoy. Or just imagine in the NK 'middle class' who would be impoverished in case of a reunification.

  It's the same in the JW world. Who are managing all the money the WT has? Where can some elders, COs or DOs have the same amount of power over so many people?

  Behind every dictatorship, there's always a group of population who supports the government.

  Where the need is greater: TTATT in Spanish

  it seems most of the us growth is in spanish-speaking territory, and of course, there is growth in the nations where spanish is the predominant language.

  most sites oriented around ttatt, are english-speaking.

  there seems then to be a great need for translators...for instance, imagine if there was a spanish version of www.jwfacts.com.. unfortunately, i dont speak this language.

  Its true. Sorry. What I said is that although personal blogs and the forum in Spanish are great (in fact, i knew the TTATT on them) a website similar to jwfacts could be a good idea to have in one site all the info we have in Spanish or to translate the jwfacts site.

  Also, having a jwn forum in Spanish (or a part of it in that language) could help.

  The more information available, the better for those seeking the TTATT.

  Hola Hildebrando. Si, soy el mismo.

  Ya he mencionado en otros posts que hay abundante info en español y he hablado sobre el foro. Mi comentario sobre los blogs no debe interpretarse como una critica. De hecho, yo conoci la verdad sobre la WT en el de JHK y sigo el tuyo.

  Pero creo que algo como jwfacts seria util como una referencia. Seria poner en una web negro sobre blanco, clasificado por tematica todo lo que queremos transmitir. Puede venir de traducciones o incluso de aportaciones propias (el tema de la seguridad social en la sucursal de España, por ejemplo).

  Incluso poner links al foro, blogs, etc.

  Encantado leerte por aqui.

  Spanish is my mother tongue so I could help with the translation.

  The problem with the Spanish-speaking exjw community is that there's a lot of information on the Internet but most of it in blogs and personal pages, with all the personal bias it introduces. I think it would be necessary to have something similar to jwfacts in Spanish.

  There's also a forum with inside info (even people who were in Bethel until recently or are still inside).

  But the main problem I have found in all this sites is the diversity of the Spanish-speaking community. In Spain, the WT is on the decline (as in the rest of Europe and North America) while in Latin America they're growing fast. In the forum we are 50% Spanish and the rest from Latin America (more or less) with Spaniards overrepresented. Maybe the way to approach Latin Americans should be different.

  Jws and poverty

  when i say poverty, i mean not knowing where your next meal is coming from or being unable to pay your bills or afford necessary medicines poverty.

  i'm talking the kinds of poor people who have to get food from charities kind of poor, or long term unemployment living in a trailer/caravan kind of poor.

  holes in clothes poor.

  Obviously there are no problems if you can get benefits.

  But I have seen that happening and nobody helping with my own eyes.

  WT doctrine on work and education only works if you live in a country with a well established Welfare state. In others, things are different.

  Some time ago I thought there's always some job to do for those who want to work.

  But I live in a country with a 26 pc unemployment rate. In my area is even worst, 35 pc.

  The witnesses have been affected in the same way as non-witnesses. In fact, millions of manual jobs have dissapeared (mainly in construction) and then in government and public services. Social net was reduced.

  The Borg has done nothing. In fact, I know somw arrogant witnesses who complained about Babylon the Great that asked for search in Catholic institutions where they received food and social support without being asked about your believes.

  Immigrants were especially affected and those who were studying with the witesses received a good lesson about how the borg helps the poors: doing nothing.

  (This blog is maintained by an ex-bethelite that worked for some years in the Spanish Bethel. When some Bethelits were fired they got Social Security benefits for all the workers when they denounced to the authorities).

  That's something that happened a long ago here in Europe.

  It's ridiculous how Witnesses preach here. You go d2d asking about Trinity for example and then the householder says: "Hmm... I'm atheist". Witnesses just go to another door. They don't know how to answer.

  there was no deviation from the idea that a university education is not a good idea.

  Hi Billy the Ex-Bethelite,

  I will give a try to your idea. Most of the meetings are boring and stupid. It's the same crap all the days about offering a tract on God's name or asking the householder what he/she thinks about the future. It's all a waste of time! Even the j-dubs know it. For them it's also a sacrifice going there to listen the same thing with the same words today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year...
