Only goes to show that despite being misled, many of the members of the cult are generally kind and good people, and they will extend this kindness to the limits where the Org allows them.

It Appears The Elderly Are More Taken Care Of Then Ever Before By The Elders
by minimus ini usually find fault with the religion but i must give credit when due.
in the hall my mom is in, they regularly check on her and assign different ones to visit and check on the elderly.. if there's a storm or an extremely cold day, they come by to make sure the elderly have everything they need..

Stay away from option 3 if you are looking to stay in undisturbed...
Even subble comments and question will immediately be considerend suspicious, and lead to further interrogation.
It would be as wise as being interviewed by the Gestapo and asking: " Oh yes, i love the third Reich. But isn't the USA a slightly better place to live in peach and prosperity?"

Clapping at the meetings and assembly
by NewYork44M ini had a random thought this morning about clapping.
growing up in the wt culture i learned the proper protocol for clapping.
before the assembly speaker gave his talk, but not after.

Most annoying was when the speaker would "force" the applause with sentences like :
"Aren't we glad that Jehovah ..." or " Isn't it wonderful that the slave has... "

Pioneering - the best job in the world!
by MMXIV inhow often did i hear those words at circuit or district assemblies - that pioneering was the best job in the world?
how often did i hear a fake job advert for pioneering where there was 100% job satisfaction working for the most powerful person in the universe and you'd get to travel the world and live forever.... i've done both jobs and would say that the job advert should more honestly read like this:.
secular job.

It must be truly traumatic to pioneer for 20 - 30 years and then realize that the Watchtower is a bunch of BS. I mean even many of us regret any effort put in working for the Watchtower. Now imagine deidcating your life to this organization as a full time "slave", doing a job that brings absolutely no results and realizing at the end that even the message is false.

what has the watchtower society done to benefit mankind?
by bigmac inwhat i mean is---has the wts/jw's/ibsa-- or whatever organisation or legality they hide behind---ever done to really benefit some sector of humanity on a practical basis?---.
it must be me--but i really cannot see some poor person--starving in a third world famine--regarding the chance of a free home bible study as high on their list of priorities..

I know that the magazines are the perfect size. Two pages fit perfectly to line my bird cage..... I thank them for that.
Other than that, as it was said here, they don't contribute anything to society. On the contrary, they enjoy liberties and freedom of speech, but refuse to serve in the army to protect them.
They complain about the economy, but refuse to help elect the best candidate for president. They refuse to protest in the streets against goverments, but are the first to get in line for the benefits those protests accomplish. They demonize the red cross and the salvation army, but if in need, they willingly take resources from them.
They say that being a police officer is wrong, but are quick to call them if they need help. When a disaster hits, they (almost always) only rebuild the homes of J-dubs - screw the rest. Even those are done in hopes that the "Brother" retributes them by handing over the insurance money.

Elders finally took me to the back room...
by OneDayillBeFree inafter several months of leaving the meetings as soon as they ended or only staying for "the first meeting" then leaving the "second part", the elders finally cornered me at last night's meeting.. they said they were concerned about me and that being that i am a young brother in a recently divided congregation they saw so much potential in me to help out the congregation and become a ms.. i told them i was thankful for their thinking of me to help the congregation but that at the moment i could not due to my job.
then the began asking personal questions that got on my nerves.. they asked where i worked and how much i made.
they asked if i was going to college and what i was studying and for how long.

This reminds of an experience my wife had.
Before we got married. she had already stopped going to meetings for a few years but for about 2 weeks or so decided to start going with her mom.
After attending about the 3rd meeting in a row, the elders asked to talk to her after the meeting. They set up a few chairs in a corner of the main meeting room - in view of everybody (not sure if it was intentional or the back room was not available), and 3 elders sat down with her. After reading a few "confess your sins" bible verses, they proceeded to grill her repeatedly about the time that she spent away from the meetings.
" What did you do?", " Who did you associate with?", " Were you involved with anybody", " Did you sleep with anybody" were just some of the questions in this public interrogation. My wife started to cry out of enbarassment and humiliation, and her mother seeing this, came and pulled her from this situation and left the meeting with her.
Needless to say, my wife never went back again.

It's truly amazing that elders get to decide who can comment and who can't. So much for an open forum.
I remember one meeting before i left, where this woman who was visiting raised her hand perhaps about a dozen times during the Watchtower study and the conductor never picked her. Finally at the end of the meeting, right before the song, she yelled at the elder who leading the study right from her seat, saying that it was disgraceful that she purposely didn't get picked. The look on the elder's face was priceless. He apologized under his breath and moved right along.
I don't think she was a JW, probably just someone who was visiting and could see the answer on the paragraph ( who can't?) and decided to give it a shot.

lol....priceless comments...
Sometimes i also wonder if living in "paradise" would be all that great. There is only so much picnics and "looking down the hill and admire nature" before you are bored to tears.
I'm so addicted to my TV shows and playstation, and Ipad, mp3, movies, going out drinking and dining, lighting up a nice cigar with some cognac, etc etc, that honestly i can't imagine life without those things.
