He actually applied for an account, before he figured out this was not a Watchtower-friendly website? Very teling of the level this person's intelligence.

Could rebaptism present a loophole for exiting without being shunned?
by Island Man inthis is how i imagine it can work: the baptized jw first gets the elders to acknowledge in written form that his previous baptism was in fact null and void.
* then later, coming close to baptism - preferably, the day of rebaptism - he changes his mind about being rebaptized (maybe he says no or remains silent when the questions are being asked, with this being video recorded).
so legally, he never was a legitimately baptized jw and therefore should not be anounced as "bro.

Written form? there is no way elders would give you a document explaining that your baptism was null. I think the concept of getting baptized again parallels that of renewing your wedding vows. People who renew their wedding vows are not single again before renewing their vows - they are still married but renewing vows.

Literature carts are the cruisiest way to preach ever - photo attached
by jwfacts init was a perfect spring day, and a jazz band were playing in the mall near my work.
in front of the band, two watchtower literature carts stood in solidarity.

This time it's really hard to qualify to become a Travelling Convention Delegate
by Quarterback ini kid you not.
the letter read twice at our meeting stated that the travelling delegates should be at least 19 yrs of age, but be an exemplary publisher for over 20 yrs.
how can this work?.
-

Who cares about the guidelines. Nobody checks at the door. If you really want to be bored for 4 straight days, just book the travel and go.

Is selling approved stage furniture at inflated prices one of the wt's money making schemes?
by hoser inis selling tables and lecterns for the kingdom hall stage platform part of the money making scheme of the wts?
i have heard this from two different congregations now.
the co rolls into town and says you need new furniture for the platform.

Not surprised.
In reality the whole thing runs on a franchise model. Each congregation needs to follow all the feel/look guidelines , and of course the Watchtower organization has all the compliant items.

will they install credit card readers for the agm?

Would be funny if all the publishers started carrying one of those phone credit card reader/adaptesr, and started taking credit cards payments at the door.

JW's planning for retirement
by FirstLastName ini had an interesting discussion with a jw family member recently and he brought up his plans for retirement.
according to his age bracket, this will not be for another 20 years or so.
he plans to buy land, build a house, move the parents nearby.

They see the org planning big construction projects that will take years and I think that it's sinking in that the big A is not coming sooooooooooon, just around the corner
This is one of those things that makes me wonder if the members of the GB are delusional and actually believe what is being taught, or otherwise are conscious that they are purposely deceiving millions of people with lies.
Certainly there is nothing to indicate that by their actions they are truly getting ready for the end of the "system of things", but instead are moving things right along just like any other corporation.

JW Wife complications
by manda63 inhi, my wife became a jw about 25 years ago and at the time while it all sounded crazy to me but i could see not wrong and have no problem with people having a religion , it started to become apparent that her choice of religion was almost cult like with all the controls in place.
we no longer have a social life together as she will only be with clan members not wordly people and i have stopped going round to her friends houses for get togethers becouse i am sick to death of being questioned and mocked about my beliefs, hearing other religion being called so harsh, wordly people being talked about as if scum and all the other haughty talk.
i am not allowed any material in the house that might be apostate, satanic?
-
redvip2000
Sorry to hear that.
There are worst situations. I have a friend of mine who is a disfellowshipped apostate, while his wife is not only still a JW, but a hardcore regular pioneer.
He is so hated by the congregation that he has been called Satan on the street by a member of the congregation. He tells me that his marriage is nothing but a formality. She doesn't work and depends on his money, so they live together but lead totally different lives.

Are we alone?
by Xanthippe inthe title of this thread is the title of a chapter in the book by richard dawkins that i'm really enjoying in spite of or perhaps because of it having been written for young people.
i thought i would share a couple of paragraphs on his theories of the kind of bodies aliens on other planets might have :-.
'let's exercise our imaginations a bit more.
-
redvip2000
I'm pretty certain we are not alone.
The basis for the existence of life in this planet and it's evolution revolves around the fact that this planet has the proper conditions for it ( distance from sun, atmosphere, etc). It is because of these factors that there is life here and not in, let's say, Jupiter.
Now, estimates say that there are 2 to 3 trillion (3 000 000 000 000 ) planets in our galaxy. Yes that is 12 zeros!! Some recent estimates point to the number of galaxies in the universe as being 500 000 000 000. You do the math!!
What are the changes that a percentage ( even if incredibly small) of this colossal amount of planets are also at the right distance from their sun and also have reliable atmosphere? My gambling mind says the chances are very good. In fact, there are likely thousands of planets with the same conditions.
IMO, it is reasonable to think that the same processes that made life come to exist in this planet, also did the same in those planets.
