My Muslim friend's and the Koran.

now i must face the fact i have muslim friends who say they believe the koran.. well i have asked these muslim friends, if they have investigated the origins of the koran.

they have answerd " yes".

I just saw a documentary last night on 60 minutes about radical islam, which i found truly disturbing. It addressed the issue of a growing number of muslims who are keen on world domination by Islam. The interesting thing is the fact that these folks are not living in a desert rat hole unaware of the conforts and properity of western civilzations; these folks are born in the west, and yet detest the properity and opportunity that surround them.

More disturbing is that they don't want to just be left alone to worship what they feel like, they truly believe that the entire world must be converted to islam under shariah law, and violence is acceptable in order to get this done. I walked away from listening to what they had to say thinking that this is a much bigger issue than what i thought.

There are many religions on earth, and although all are idiotic in some way, we can co-exist with them as we don't have to believe in them. But the game is changing with Islam, there is simply a growing sentiment from muslims that the rest of the world does not have the right to NOT be muslim, and this is a problem.

Jehovah witnesses are not all that different in reality. They also advocate death to all non-believers but luckily, they feel Jehoober is the one who has the task of killing all non-JWs, and that's good enough for me. What is not good for me, is for folks to believe they have to take this task into their own hands.

on oct. 22, eight brothers were released from prison in turkmenistan by presidential amnesty.

(see 2014 yearbook, p. 31) the ninth brother is still imprisoned, but it is hoped that he will be released shortly.

some were already in prison for three or more years and had been severely mistreated.

It's a pity we can't determine born-in baptisms vs from the field baptisms, as this would better represent the ministry effectiveness.
eg. if 4 out of every 5 baptisms are born ins, this means the number coming in from the field each year is only 55,000.

I'm going to guess that in reality out of every 10 baptisms, perhaps 1 is a result of someone actually knocking on the door. All the others are kids, family, friends, co-workers or current witnesses.

can anyone tell me how to fly under the radar of the elders?

i have all my family in the cult and was brought up in it myself.

although mentally i'm out if i leave i loose all my family and that would break my heart.

i've somehow got to fly under the radar and not be detected.

If you want to maintain appearances, this is the best:

1 - Find a foreign language congo in your general area like Spanish

2 - tell elders in old hall and friends that you are going because you want to learn the language and the schedule is better for your job.

3 - Go to elder in new hall and tell them your are moving.

4 - While your records are being transfered, attend a few meetings, mosly weekends

5 - Once elders tell you that you are officially transfered, immediately start missing meetings more and more.

For the old congo, you are the brother who left for another hall. On the new congo, nobody really knows you anyway. It's helpful if the new congo is a foreign language congo, because your old hall won't even expect you to see you at conventions.

He gave the usual replies. If you wait on Jehovah He makes it come out right.

Wait on Jehovah? But who exactly is responsible for the information given in the first place, Jehovah or the GB? If it was Jehovah, why was it false? If it was the GB, then how is Jehovah using his organization to speak to His people?

How much time could we say is reasonable for the creator of the entire universe, to simply give a piece of information to a group of humans? 5 years? 10 years? Does jehovah need maybe 50 years to correct simple things?

Was the Biblical Canon Directed by God?

this is a question a sincere christian may agonize over after learning that some books of the bible were rejected by certain early christian groups,while other books that did not make the canon were accepted.

also,when one realizes that so called inspired writers of the greek scriptures quote from apocrypha,that most christians reject today,one wonders if these writings that include these quotes should even be in the bible.. it is true that when it comes to the christian greek scriptures the canon has been closed for many centuries.

also, these books have been accepted by christians ever since the second,perhaps first,century.

How do you determine which book is inspired? Accuracy?!?! Does that mean that ANY book with any type of falsehood is non-inspired?!?! If so, what is the point of putting faith in any book of the bible?

I find this whole subject very interesting. It continues to amaze me how people today validate ancience writings as being holy simply because they are cloaked in a shroud of mystical appeal. Much more impressive things are written today or recently and yet we yawn at them because we can don't see this same appeal for them.

Why? Why do we have such high standards or expectations for current knowledge but are willing to believe everything from some ancient sheep herders who were prone to believe that everything was supernatural? These sheep herders were not different from others around the world who believed the Sun was God, or who believe you needed to sacrifice a virgin to get good crops. It's all the same nonsense. These were extremely ignorant people who needed to use supernatural excuses to explain everything around them.

Yet here we are, looking at their silly writings for answers. We read them on our IPAD, a palpable product of obvious advancement in science, but yet we ignore the explanations that science has to offer, and focus on reading the ramblings of ancient people who were desperately trying two rub two sticks together to create a fire.

This sort of selective quoting has been done continuously by the Watchtower org. Another one that comes to mind is regarding the quality of the New World Translation.

There was a scholar named Jason BeDuhn who reviewed the NWT and concluded that although it was a "remarkably good translation", the introduction of the name "Jehovah" into the New Testament 237 times was "not accurate translation by the most basic principle of accuracy", and that it "violate[s] accuracy in favor of denominationally preferred expressions for God"

Of course the Watchtower just cherry picked the favorable comments and left out everything else.

something bad will happen to them.

because god was mad at them for turning away from the wt.

One day the jet he was on crashed and all aboard died. All in the congregation was saying see this is what happens when you leave.

This only proves that you should not even be close to someone who has left the "troof", since evidently Jehoober is willing to kill everyone within a 50 yard radius in order to execute judgement on someone who has left the Org.

Evolution and spirits

as of now iam making an unbiased examination of evolution.

however one thing keeps me hanging on to the belief of a supreme spirit being; the existence of spirits.

i have heard countless accounts of people who have experienced frightening encounters with evil forces.

I have too actually, on my way home i drive by this store called "Discount Wines and Spirits", and i've experienced them several times. They are great.

Service meeting video....what a non-event

at our service meeting we saw the video of a jw explaining his beliefs about 1914.. it was.....well, "underwhelming" does not do it justice.

what is below "underwhelming"?
