  Whatever side of the aisle you are on, if you live in a state with a greater population (California, New York, Texas) your vote counts much less than if you live in a more rural state with less people, such as Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, South Dakota, etc.

  Yup. And don't expect that to change any time soon.

  But wait, if we do away with the electoral college, wouldn't that mean that areas that have a larger concentration of people would have a bigger deciding power than ones in rural areas?? Well...yeah, so what. That is exactly the way it works in every other country in the world. Areas that have more people = more votes = more decision power.

  Gone are the days where a common desire for truth and transparency would cause folks -- regardless of the political jersey they wear -- to WANT any witnesses that could potentially have relevant information.
  

  Not any more. Now, idiotic political allegiance and the need to not let the other side win anything, or be right about anything, or be recognized to do anything right, has superseded the love for country.

  Sad times for our dear country.

  Reminds me of sports rivalry in some countries, where supporters would rather see their rivals lose against a foreign team who shares no identity with them, than see their brothers across town win something.

  if Time magazine had 8 million employees is many countries, who were forced to read each issue and also pay for several more to give away, they would be the most circulated magazine.

  The Org has the luxury of having 8 million slaves who have no choice but to consume their product.

  Perhaps in terms of production numbers yes, but then what?

  JWs read it I guess, and the rest are stored in piles in their homes and if they are lucky some are handed to home owners who are quick to drop it in the trash bin on their way back to the kitchen.

  Will God resurrect our beloved pets? What do you think?

  the watchtower doesn't hold out any hope for us ever seeing our beloved animals again.

  i find it very difficult to believe that god -- a god of love -- would refuse to resurrect an animal that we had become so attached to.

  over the years i have bonded with no less than four (4) dogs, all of which were/are like family to me.

  Nothing in the Bible says we will have pets in heaven to my knowledge. Jesus did not die for them individual basis

  The minimum Jellohoba could have done is to send down a poodle with a hippie mentality, that could cure rabies, walk on water, and ultimately be euthanized so that all dog sins be forgiven.

  that is even more ignorant than mountains being pushed up and eroding in a few thousand years.

  and it wasnt cold either.. i should have commented on the bristlecone in the awake that survived the flood.

  I remember an elder giving a talk about the bible's account of the flood can be substantiated by science in that archaeologists found sea shells on the highest parts of the Himalayas surrounding Everest . True but he didn't mention that the sea shells and fossils were feet thick indicating that the ground was once an ocean floor bed.

  Take this with a grain of salt as i'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure that if there was a massive downpour like that, you would not all of a sudden see sea shells on top of mountains. Sea shells don't swim around in that manner. It would most likely take thousands of years for sea shell populations to make their way that high

  A true great.

  And btw, a really idiotic call from the pilot to decide to fly in those conditions. I've heard no less that 10 pilots come out and say there was no way they would fly like that.

  also, perhaps i'm not the only one, but I've taken flights where as I look at weather conditions I wonder if it's a good idea to continue, thought I usually just shrug my shoulders and trust that the pilot must know better than me, and I guess i'm still alive, so that's true, but evidently that's not always the case.

  More importantly, why would God make animals to die only to resurrect them? That doesn't seem like great planning.

  You could perhaps make the argument that in the case of humans, the fairy tale about Adam and Eve is the basis for humans having to die. But animals are outside of that scope, which mean that if they are dying, which they are, the plan of your imaginary god is that they remain dead.

  And why would dogs and cats be the only ones to be resurrected? A fair god would resurrect all animals, boy that can get complicated.

  Global Entry / PreCheck at US Airports

  for those who travel, such as attend international conventions (lol, i had to add a jw thing into this thread), do you have the precheck thing for the airports?

  this is the thing where you go in a separate line and don't have to take your shoes off and do all the things that most people do.. it does cost money, about $85 for 5 years.. but for those who travel internationally, the global entry thing is well worth the money.

  for only $15 more ($100 total for 5 years) it includes precheck within the us and then entry back into the us without the typical long lines at customs.

  It is not so much about safety, IMO, but about expediting those who go through fingerprinting and a background checks to get through the lines quicker. I don't see the connection with terrorists.

  You don't huh? Maybe you can read your own sentence again. I guess they check your background and fingerprint you just for the hell of it. No connection to terrorism whatsoever. And why fingerprint and background check anybody, if a member can take along others who have not been vetted?

  In other words, If i go to the regular line, I have to take my shoes off. But if I tag along with someone that has pre-check, shoes stay on, while I haven't been vetted on either side.
  

  It's a scam. Yes i know if you have it, you like it because it saves you some minutes, but it's still a scam. In fact, I'm heard some reports that the TSA actually created that clusterfuck last year at airports where they were huge lines on purpose, as a way to encourage people to upgrade.

  If you go to an airport in Europe, you don't have take your shoes off. hmmm interesting. Is it because they don't care about security? Or is it because they don't need to upsell you on anything?

  we don’t get many invitations to congregational social gatherings.

  we don’t attend midweek meetings and miss about 1/3 of sunday meetings.

  we go in service at least once a month.
