According to an interview quoted at the aforementioned site, Venus at least is a JW. She talks about going from door-to-door when they were young and about the importance the society puts on "good association".
She claims to still be a JW. I know when she won her first title, at the press conference following the win she gave thanks to "Jehovah", and everyone wondered then.

According to this site which quotes a Nov 2001 interview with Michael and TV Guide, he still claims to be going door to door in disguise. The organizaton never really gave an answer when asked if he was df or da. I'm sure the contributions Michael was making to the society might allow him a little slack in the judicial area.
Just a note of interest, this site also talks about the William sisters still being JW's even though they participated in the Olympics and were on the podium while the national athems were being played.

You know your comment is intersting. When Brother Franz was df I was pioneering at the time. I nor anyone in my congregation which was quite large ever heard anything about it. After reading about his experiences in the last year I've gently inquired of some of my relatives and exhusband who is still an elder if they new Ray Franz. Noone had ever heard of him. Your sarcasm is that of one who did't go through the 60's and 70's era of being part of the organization. The world thinks of Jimmy Jones as being a completely crazy fanatic who was the instigator of a mass suicide of his followers. They honestly believed what he was telling them and were willing to die for their convictions. Do you think if the government had of known of this suicide to glory plan that they wouldn't have infiltrated Jones organization and prevented it from happening?
Those of us that were in the truth during the "stay alive till "75" era sincerely believed that Armegeddon was on its way. It was the spiritually strong not the weak that were willing to sell the homes and belongings and move to were the need was great to "save lives" before it was to late.
Things had changed radically since Brother Franz was in the organization. Most people that are on this board have a huge motivation to see this organization end. It might be spiritual, it might be because of the shunning of our families, it might be from revenge, it might be to see justice finally done. But I still think that if there was a small spiritally organized band of brothers that could infiltrate the organization and expose it "before" they are disfellowshiped it might work. You have to agree that what our four silent lambs have done working in a coordinated, fearless attack has produced national coverage and feedback. Why not keep it up with for example the blood case in Calgary which will go natinal when it hits the supreme court. -

I have slowly eased two of my grown children away from the organization and the other one is very lukewarm. I also have three baptized siblings who were brought up in the truth and now have "faded" away. This happened before I discovered this site. There are different scenerios. After reviewing my own experiences I now have a different persepective of things. If I was a brother and was married with a wife and children going to meetings, I would never completely cut myself off from them by either da or being df. I would keep the lines of communication open use every opportunity I could to scatter some seeds of doubt. If I was a single brother I would (as I stated earlier) try and progress right to the top and gain the trust of the organization to expose everything I could. If I were a sister without family or relatives that I could lure away then I would fade. Sad to say but sisters really can't do much. If you are an "independent" thinker you are promptly reprimanded and marked.
I may be way off base, but if our silent lambs or the blood issue in Calgary doesn't open eyes then I think we need some joint strategy to bring this organization to its knees. -

As you can see I'm a newbie, but I have been reading posts for months, just haven't posted myself. I'm not going to relay my history at this time, except to say that I was baptized at 10, "vacation pioneered" every summer of my school vacation with a beautiful, and wise older sister who has been gone for quite a few years. I was married to the "Bible Study Servant" who later was transformed into an "elder". I am not df, but do not attend meetings.
I question everyone's thinking about removing themselves from the organizaton, not because I think its the truth but because to me it would be strategy to stay in especially if you are a brother. In secular war the object is to infiltrate the enemy, find out their plans and sabatage them. Aren't we doing exactly what the organization wants us to do when we leave. We become "apostates", and close all minds to what we have to say. We justify the organizaton's policy. Leander for example was a m.s. He could have "progressed" to an elder and had an inside track on everything coming down. We "sisters" do not have the same advantages of the males, but some subtle "propaganda" of our own could be very subtley injected into our social gatherings etc. I firmly believe that we are at a point in time when a fatal blow could be dealt to the organization but I think it has to destroy itself from the inside out to ever let the real "truth" come through. Has anybody else ever thought this way? -

I think the monitoring is in case an elder decides to insert his own thoughts into the talk the sound could go down or some other emergency could be construed to get him off the platform. Wouldn't that be interesting, to see a male work his way up the ranks from ms to elder, to co, and do and then change the words of his talk at a large assembly into an expose of the organization. That would get some attention for sure!

4 more days till I leave the Watchtower
by Leander inin a few more days i'll be making my departure from the wts, part of me is relieved and yet another part of me is dreading the drama i'll be going through shortly.
i've been trying to prepare myself for the deluge of questions that i know are sure to come from my family.
my wife will be the first person i tell obviously and then i'll tell my mother and younger brother.

Hi Leander,
I am a new poster, but am very interested in your thoughts about leaving the organization. The one thing to keep in mind is that you are falling right in with the society's plans when you df or disassociate yourself. By taking this course of action you cut off all chance of talking to your family or friends about this organization and all of its inconsistencies. By branding yourself as an "apostate" the society happily closes all doors of communication to you. If you have close family or friends in the organization it can be very punishing for them as well. They may love you, but they have to remain "loyal" to the organizaton and most honestly believe that when they are "shunning" you they are really trying to save your eternal life. I would like to give you an example of what this can do to a person and their family. When I was a child there was a young baptized brother in our congregation that had an unbelieving, very strict father. When he was fifteen he hung around with some worldly boys after school. These boys as a practical joke decided to steal a gas can from a house. The brother actually didn't even know what was happening as he was sitting in the car. They got caught of course and the police were called. There were no charges laid but this brother was called for a meeting with the "committee" as it was called at that time. At fifteen years of age he was terrified of the "committee" and of his own unbelieving father. He didn't attend the meeting. He was subsequently disfellowshipped without a hearing. As a son of a large family with the majority of his siblings in the truth this led to unbelievable heartache for his family and him. During subsequent years he was exluded from all family functions including weddings, family reunions and even his own parents anniversary party. His children were ostrasized because if he couldn't go then of course they wouldn't be allowed to go either. As time went on and this now adult became a well respected member of his community known for his kindness and generosity to all, some members of his family tried to reopen a relationship with him. After doing so they were brought up before the elders and told they would be disciplined if they continued with this association. This has gone on for almost thirty years and caused a huge amount of pain and heartbreak for all but especially his Mother, as he was the youngest of a large family. The really sad part of all of this is that he isn't even on the society's records anymore, yet because of this being a very small community it will never go away. He never attended the Kingdom Hall after his disfellowshipping more out of fear than anything else, but as time went by that option didn't interest him anymore. I wonder why?
When you make this decision think of all the consequences. If you can keep the channels open to your family, you may be able to eventually, and quietly help them see the light.
I will tell you this. If I was a brother, I would be progessing as far as I could in the truth just to get my hands on as much information from the governing body and Bethel as I possibly could. I don't think we should be playing into the society's hands by letting them get rid of us and justifying it with their "apostate" excuse. I think if some can remain attached in some way either with the organization, or with friends and family we have a much better chance of infiltrating this organization and exposing their lies and deceit.
