I find the idea of god to be "nonsense on stilts" to steal a phrase from the great thinker Jeremy Bentham.
reply under these aspects.... 1)life/death.
3) freedom/ responsibilty.

at the meeting today the wt had a paragraph about certain ones breaking away from the church because the church's doctrines didn't match the bible, some were excommunicated, some imprisoned, some executed.. of course they were held up to be lovers of god, true christians... if i was to do the same thing i would be held up as an apostate.... and excommunicated...... i wish sometimes i had the same courage as those ones.....
"Lots of good history" ???? You won't see any of that in a WT, I doubt if any of the ones who were the "heretics" in the early centuries of the Church would agree with more than 1% of what the WT teaches today. It is never History in the WT, merely propaganda.
and how far apart were they?.
thanks.
Why after High School ? If you fell in love during your early teens and still love that person, why does that not count ?
last week we lost a wonderful elder (removed, stepped down is what i will believe) , this man was as real, as you can get.
he loved the sheep,.
his eternal optimism of humanity is a rare quality in the jw religion.
A JW who has been in for over six decades said to me a while ago "All the good brothers have left" (I really don't know why he doesn't, he sees a lot of the problems for what they are).
This guy in the OP sounds like another one who has been squeezed and pressured to the point where he may well leave too. Some guys rise above it all, I know of one Elder, similar to the guy described, always helping people and visiting the sick etc, he was removed, but now he is back "serving", you never know how it will affect them.
I think there are definately more Ex-Elders than serving Elders now, says a lot about the job really.
when my friends and family try to "reason" with me about my decision to leave, i immediatley begin to question the interpretation of the so-called prophecy in the bible, i am getting the following consistent response:.
"it does not matter if the end comes in my lifetime.
i know i am doing god's will.".
I genuinely felt that I did not care when the Big A and the "New System" happened, I rather hoped it would not be in my lifetime, I thought it would be hard to observe the sight of the destruction and carnage etc
I genuinely was not tied to a date, I got some heated reaction early in 1975 when I spoke against serving toward a date, I simply wished to do God's will.
I left because it plainly is not God's will that I serve a publishing corporation/real estate outfit that teaches lies.
What is "God's will" ? get them to honestly analyse that and they will leave too.
Good luck with trying !
where is the evidence you were "wronged", "mistreated", dis-fellowshipped for no reason, blah, blah, blah.. some of you seem to want "evidence" to provide credibility to other's statements at times.. where is your evidence?.
nightowl.
We do not need to re-post evidence of disgusting, un-christian, un-scriptural treatment by the WT, virtually every thread where a person introduces themselves is a catalogue of those sort of horrors.
This whole site is the evidence, which evidence will be ignored or rubbished by die-hard Dubs, but it stands.
i've just posted a new blog article to jwstruggle.com on the link below:.
http://www.jwstruggle.com/2012/03/the-two-trees-my-genesis-ponderings/.
the purpose behind the article is to explore my own doubts and long-standing confusion over the genesis narrative - particularly the events surrounding adam and eve's expulsion from eden, and the "two trees" (namely the "tree of life" and the "tree of the knowledge of good and bad").. in my article i discuss my confusion over what the exact properties of the "tree of the knowledge of good and bad" may have been, and the fact that evidently by eating of the fruit adam and eve did not become sinful but more godlike.
I'm Irish, didja mean treetrees ?
I always used to pray before giving a talk as a JW, especially hard and often, before I had to face a large audience made up mainly of strangers, as in away PT's
I was convinced I had neither the ability as a speaker ,or the right as a human, to teach, so I prayed for the ability to get God's words over to my brothers and sisters in a way that would praise him and help the listeners in christian living.
I thought that my prayers were answered, as I appeared confident in delivery, and many came to thank me for the help they had gained, some many years after I had delivered the talk, what I had forgotten saying by that time had stuck in their mind.
I now know that this must have been a plecebo type effect, even if God did work in that way, he would not have helped me to help others in their support of a publishing corporation posing as a religion.
So, prayer has an effect, as do placebos, so it may have a use, just don't fool yourself it comes from "god", unless She has personally told you so.

The deranged perpetrator of the crimes obviously needs dealing with to safeguard others, and probably himself. Prison and therapy would seem to be in order.
It would be interesting to know what the facts behind his DFing are, and did that and his treatment by the Congo. subsequent to that event contribute to his instability ?
I'll guess we will never know.
a new member of the jws forum has posted this scan of a picture in the french edition the april 2011 awake.. i have never believed the subversive wt artist stories but this one is funny.. .
.
Just another example of WT historical inaccuracy, I have it straight from the mouth of a descendant of Jesus' tailor that he always dressed to the right.
