I have found that the XJW's I have met in person are lovely reasonable people. On line we get a variety, it is evident that many were the kind of JW who never read anything much, never researched anything for themselves, even the stuff they were allowed to, and they have continued this lazy way as XJW's.
But many more seem to have knuckled down, given themselves a better education, got well informed on a wide range of subjects, and also ended up as reasonable people, willing to change their viewpoint when corrected.

I have similar memories of some very colourful people Blues. I have observed that as the years have rolled on they are appointing more and more, and only it seems " little grey men". ( Yes men).
But the point made by the O.P was certainly valid in my case, I never wanted to be an Elder, but for a number of years the Body of Elders used to struggle with why they couldn't appoint me, and I am sure that my outspoken ways, and being a big personality regardless of Org rules were the only things they could find.
A number of Elders over the years struggled to explain to me the reasoning of the Body, not that I asked for reasons, I always said " I am happy to serve my Brothers as an M.S ", but then they would say all the things that made me "qualified" and wished I would " work toward being an Elder, one even said " We really need people like you to be an Elder". But my being a bit of a character must have saved me from that fate !
sooo.... i've been perusing recent topics for a few minutes and seeing pretty much the standard jw fare these days - scandals, abuse, bad behavior, cover ups, bullying, shunning, family splits, torturous extrications from a cult, mind control etc.. i started to try and think of anything the dubs were doing that was actually beneficial to mankind in any way, and i'm struggling.
without being facetious, wtf do they do to make anybody's life better?

The only one I can think of that is very tenuous is : I know of three cases where had these individuals remained as Drug Addicts they would now be dead. But having said that, support from other Institutions is probably better, and effective in far more cases.
i was raised in it.
there were questions, but the psychological abuse prevented me from ever really getting answers.
i am naturally a logical thinker in spite of my decades of indoctrination, and my brain just never could get passed things that were glaringly huge issues.
You are most welcome here, you will find any support and advice you need, and you will find real love, despite what you have been told about XJW's.

part one considered the history and powers of royal commissions in general.. .
I think the JW Org will see it as money well spent, an "expert" Legal view, that they can quote to assure the faithful numbnuts JW's that the R.C was not conducted "properly".
The Report does not seem to really make any accusations that stand much scrutiny as to the conducting of the R.C.
Points like the R.C seemed to think it had carte blanch to investigate all Abuse cases within the J.W's ????? Well, I would criticise the R.C if it did not !
