  First Proper Chat With the JWs in Almost 11 Years

  since disassociating in october 2008, i've had little to no direct contact with the jws, apart from immediate family members (ie my parents).

  i've lived in my rented flat since may 2014 and haven't had a knock on the door in that whole time.

  until saturday morning.

  Well done PWP ! that is the only way to treat JW's fairly, with respect, and gentle words that may reach their hearts. Looking back over the years it took me to wake up, and finally leave, I realise that it was people who treated me as you treated these ladies, that made me think, and gave me stuff that nagged at me.

  A seed planted often takes a while to start to grow, but you never plant such a seed if you attack, or come over as feeling superior to them, the empathetic " I was once like you" is what works.

  they feel free to post this crap on the internet about jesus is lord share this post, or some drivel but then if you post any thing that questions it you get jumped on like someone saying the earth is a globe at a flat earth convention.

  J.W's always have to be right. If you carry that attitude over when you leave you are frankly a bit of an idiot. You have just learned that you were totally WRONG for however many years you were in, surely it should enter even a fairly thick skull that your opinions now may well be wrong too.

  The dishonest and cowardly tactic of not engaging in debate to defend your views is typical JW too, and if that is the attitude of an XJW they need a bloody good long look in the mirror.

  This "dance", though farcical, is O.K I suppose in Countries that have the facility in their Legal system, I presume not all do.

  It is of course high time that the Org. dropped this totally nonsensical and unfounded doctrine. It simply cannot be supported from Scripture without some very weird interpretation of texts, which are in addition to being weird, are dishonest and hypocritical.

  Of course the important thing to the org. is $$$. They dare not receive " New Light" on this for fear of litigation for the years of using this murderous doctrine, adopted in the first place so rumour has it, by Mad Freddie Franz as a way of making the religion very different.

  How Elders in the know, that the "dance" is encouraged from the highest level, can square this with a belief that the org. is not a total sham I know not. How can such an evil Doctrine have ever come from a loving god ? And operating a covert way of getting round it must make their Cognitive Dissonance become an internal scream.

  I think they will Appeal kramer, but the House of Lords ruling that the owners of a Care Home, where a child was abused by a member of staff, were liable, may work in favour of the Appeal being dismissed.

  We know how the Org has tried to wriggle out of responsibility in cases in the past, and have managed to do so, in some cases, if memory serves. I hope they do not manage it this time, and maybe a larger award may be given in damages. I can but dream.

  Thanks Half Banana, a clear and understandable exposition for a dumbass like me. I love seeing Science in action this way, the more we get to understand the more advancement to better things is possible.

  It is also pleasing to me that yet another silly argument by Creationists has been done away with. The Theory of Evolution just gets stronger with each discovery in the field.

  I have found that the XJW's I have met in person are lovely reasonable people. On line we get a variety, it is evident that many were the kind of JW who never read anything much, never researched anything for themselves, even the stuff they were allowed to, and they have continued this lazy way as XJW's.

  But many more seem to have knuckled down, given themselves a better education, got well informed on a wide range of subjects, and also ended up as reasonable people, willing to change their viewpoint when corrected.

  These latter ones give the best answers on here !

  alanv, I am not so sure, they may very well Appeal, as the Judge said the WT of NY were vicariously liable. The powers that be in the U.S H.Q of the Jdubs will want that quashed, I would have thought.
