I thought when I read the Article that the writer must be a JW, as he had repeated the lies the JW org use to cover up how evil the Shunning is. The the biggest lie is the untruth that JW's exercise their individual conscience and then practice Shunning, we who have been JW's know for sure that if you do not shun someone who is Disfellowshipped , action by the Congregation Elders swiftly follows.

More than likely too, if an individual is no longer associating, but not actually DF'd, that the Elders would haul you in front of them for associating with that person

How many JW's would actually shun if it was not imposed upon them ?

The writer of the Article is either a liar, or has been duped in to lying.

Mr Jones is the Prosecutor, surely he would have pointed out that Williams' contention he had "no sexual interest in children" was arrant nonsense ? The Article does not say he did so.

I also fail to understand that because someone has only just been caught, so do not have a previous offence on Record, is some kind of mitigation ??

This man should be on the Sexual Offences Register for life, anything less means he is a constant potential danger.

I also find it sickening that the JW community around him still support him ! What is wrong with these people, would you want to support him if he had sent YOUR Daughter of 13 Dick Pics and suggested he wanted her to perform oral sex upon him ?

To The Australian Government .Have Jehovah`s Witnesses signed the Redress scheme ?

maybe i`m a just a bit more impatient than some ,but the govt.

did say they will name and shame those who do not sign up to the redress scheme didn`t they ?

and take away their special priveledges , etc.?.

They have finally signed up, after missing several deadlines , and issued this statement :

" “Now that the law requires charities to join the scheme, Jehovah’s Witnesses will comply. Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that it is their responsibility before God to respect and co-operate with the authorities.”

So they are saying that they do not have a responsibility before God to treat the Victims with compassion and love, that the whole of their responsibility is merely to comply with the Law. A True God of Love might have something to say about that !

It is a well known Scientific hypothesis that if you travel long enough and far enough in Space, you age less than those who stayed behind on Earth, so maybe he really IS Captain Kirk !

Covid Virus and serving where the need is greater

i get the impression that many of those serving where 'the need is greater' have had to return to their home countries due to the current covid pandemic.. just over a year back the society was pushing people to go to places like india; not the easiest places to get to grips with at the best of times.

now i see that the covid pandemic is pretty much out of control in india.

it seems to me that 'needs greaters' were the watchtowers way of getting missionaries on the cheap.

Being the old cynic I am, I bet the Org. is recalling them just in case, because if they left them "in post" there is a legal argument that the Org owed a " Duty of Care" , even if they are Volunteers, and if someone were to die of Covid, a Law Suit could follow and be successful.

It is always about the $$$.

If memory serves this old man, they tried this excuse about them being the personal records of Elders under U.K Law, it failed, as being in a File that over the years that different Elders could possibly access, these were the Property of the Congregation and just as much came under the right to access that other records would.

I hope the Court in Canada takes a similar view as to the general principle.

I Care a Lot (2020) One of the worst movies I think I've ever seen

my wife and i were intrigued by the trailer, which looked like a humorous, over the top, dark comedy.. the story centers around the unscrupulousness of a female attorney named marla grayson (rosamund pike) who makes her living by preying on old people.

grayson has her victims declared mentally incompetent, locks them away in a care facility she has bought off and then liquidates and pockets their assets as their court appointed guardian.. (spoilers ahead).

ms. grayson humorously makes the mistake of singling out a seemingly helpless retiree name jennifer peterson (dianne wiest) as her next target.. grayson however, quickly discovers that peterson has millions of dollars in diamonds in a safe deposit box and far from being helpless is the mother of roman lunyov, (peter dinklage) a russian mafia figure who is not terribly happy with this turn of events.. up to this point, the movie was great.

Apparently, and this may be Apocryphal, but Rutherford struggled long and hard to come up with a new name, to differentiate them from the Bible Students who were still going strong, but were loyal to the teachings of Russell, and not Rutherford's.

He said it came to him " during the night". Quite how much liquor he had consumed before retiring who knows ? but if he had thought about it, to take a Scripture from Isaiah and apply it to a supposedly Christian group , and give it a name from pre Christian times, was a big mistake which would make the JW's sound weird to all and sundry.

Maybe he did think about that, but went ahead anyway, not bothering that the new Testament clearly says we should be Witnesses of Jesus.

Big Cull of Foreign Language Groups and Congregations

i overheard mrs eyeslice listening to '2021 governing body update 3' yesterday.

apparently, they have started ditching foreign language groups and congregations as these weren't exactly roping anyone in.

of course there is a positive spin on all this - '4,000 plus elders freed up to serve in local language congregations' and of course there has been immensely positive feedback from various branches about the benefits of this.. i suspect though there will be an awful lot of elders who were serving as king pins in these congregations who are going to have their noses put out by going back to local language congregations where they will barely be used.

I think stuff like this MUST add to the Cognitive Dissonance of those starting to wake up. Even when I was a practicing and believing JW, when they used to spin stuff as a " Blessing", or "Evidence we are deep in to the time of the End" I use to think then , " No it isn't" .
