  It is astounding, now that the G.B have been seen " in the flesh" that anyone can believe they are appointed by God !

  When I was a believing and active J.W I always had reservations about the G.B as they became, and before that about those at the top and what they came out with in the Watchtower, and from the Platform etc . Myself and a few friends in the congregation regularly shredded the stuff we were given as " Spiritual Food" , but we just thought they were imperfect , silly men, but it was still god's org. Oh ! if only there had been an Internet back then !!

  I guess a good few still think that way, that it is mere "imperfection", which is why they stay, a good few more are PIMO and only stay out of fear of losing family and friends.

  Clap for the Carers (or Don't it's Forbidden)

  so, in the uk, during the early stages of covid there was a groundswell of appreciation for the nhs for their front-line sacrifice.

  this was crystallised into a regular clapping/whistling/noise making session every thursday at 8pm.. "harmless" you would have thought, "a gesture of appreciation", "what could possibly be wrong with joining in on that innocent activity?".

  well, the co during his recent rounds had a different view.

  " It wasn’t in the outline.", more than likely not, but it could well be that something has been said "from above" that he has picked up on, his words would probably not be condemned as wrong by the G.B.

  This whole " Clap for Carers" is a farce to cover up the disgusting way this U.K Government is treating them, they ALL deserve a wage increase, they cannot buy food with claps.

  We know that JW's individually or as an Org in Russia are not a threat to the State. The problem the JW Org there has, is that according to the criteria set down in Russian Law as to what constitutes an " Extremist" organisation, the JW Org ticks all the boxes !

  Now we know that they are NOT going to kick off and start acts of terrorism , but the Russian Law makes them an org. to watch.

  As usual with badly defined Laws, it is the application of the Law, and interpretation thereof, that is often misused by those that hate a particular group of people. The Law in question needs redrafting....... perhaps.... or better still, the JW org could stop being so Extreme !

  this is interesting.. you've probably heard of "asymptomatic spread" which is, people who are infected with the virus and are spreading it, but who have no symptoms.. but is it accurate?

  is it supported by the statistics?.

  this video analyses the facts and concludes that we've been given misinformation due to faulty testing.

  Both Conventions were silly, the 'flu was not entirely over then. If you look at the figures, it appears they did not lose too many, the big Exodus took place after 1925 , when Rutherford's nonsense about that year became obvious as the ramblings of an alcoholic.

  This caused many, who were loyal to Russell and his teaching, to leave, and continue on their own. Some remnants of this group remain active today in the USA and in the U.K, and are still known as Bible Students.

  I agree, I think that is a bad statistic to hang too many conclusions upon, that figure does not divide out those who died of something else, even though they tested positive earlier. I guess in many cases it is difficult to be categorical, but certainly those who have not presented with Covid symptoms should NOT be in that figure.

  anyone watching this?

  it's an australian production with the actress who plays lady edith in downton abbey.. great drama.. there was a surprise mention of jehovah's witnesses in episode 2. we just started watching episode 3 and, well, they are going to hate the kind of publicity this gives them!.

  it will build on the terrible reputation they have after the commission investigating abuse within organisations, which the wts tried to obstruct and obfuscate their responsibilities in.. well worth watching as a drama in it's own right, but especially as a potential talking point about the wts.. on cbc in canada..

  We watched this last year some time, I thought it was well done, entertaining enough. The JW part of the plot is very appropriate I thought. But , as you say Simon, JW's won't like it !

  The JW's will probably Nit Pick at the slight " inaccuracies", which are not really, I think they are maybe deliberate, and even if not, do not excuse the JW Org for what it is, and what it does to people !

  I thought when I read the Article that the writer must be a JW, as he had repeated the lies the JW org use to cover up how evil the Shunning is. The the biggest lie is the untruth that JW's exercise their individual conscience and then practice Shunning, we who have been JW's know for sure that if you do not shun someone who is Disfellowshipped , action by the Congregation Elders swiftly follows.

  More than likely too, if an individual is no longer associating, but not actually DF'd, that the Elders would haul you in front of them for associating with that person

  How many JW's would actually shun if it was not imposed upon them ?

  The writer of the Article is either a liar, or has been duped in to lying.
