I'm not sure if this old guy's memory is correct, but was that not the quote that said the End would come " in this Twentieth Century" in the actual Magazine Article, and then the Org craftily changed the wording in the Bound Volume version ??

1969 "fact": You will never grow old in this present system of things
by Ding inawake!
"if you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things.
because all the evidence in fulfillment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years... therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers.

Why did Jehovah choose false prophet apostates as his chosen earthly organization (1919) ?
by Rocketman123 infrom a theological and biblical perspective, this has to be asked and critically examined.. the doctrines this organization and its self described fdsl (gb) chosen ones has preached and taught have now more than ever have shown to be false teachings.. the bible warns of false prophets and those who say things that god has not given them to say but the wts from its earliest beginning made proclamations such as jesus's return in 1874.. so if one were to faithfully adhere to what the bible says and more so jesus's instructions for preaching his gospel of a new kingdom to come, who really are jws loyal to, the wts.
and its top leading men or jesus and jehovah ??

As Ray Franz succinctly put it in one of his Books: " To say the Jehovah's Witnesses were chosen in 1919 is an insult to Jesus Christ".
That is so true, it would mean not only that Jesus lacked intelligence, but honesty too, how could he choose Rutherford's Lot over say, the Christadelphians, who were teaching THEN much what JW's teach today, and were REALLY Conscientious Objectors in WW1 ?????
Rutherford and Gang, in 1919, taught a load of nonsense long since rejected by the JW Org, and pushed the buying of War Bonds.

I was born in, in 1950, I knew little of any works by Philosophers, until I left, and I too wish I had read them earlier in life. There was one thing I did come across though, when I was an active JW, which made me realise that Russell, Rutherford, Knorr and Franz were all pretty badly educated.
It was definition of " Higher Critics" or more accurately of Higher Criticism, which the four Big brains mentioned used to often refer to as "So-called Higher critics" as though these learned gentleman were styling themselves "Higher" as though they were better than lesser critics.
Higher Criticism is the study of the MEANING of a Text, Lower Criticism is the study of the Text purely to get a sense of the actual language, without interpretation. I am not sure that lot of poorly educated guys mentioned above actually understood what Criticism was in an Academic sense, I think at least Russell, maybe all four, thought it was the everyday use of criticism, meaning "finding fault with" that was referred to, of course it was not, it was Scholars trying honestly to get at the full meaning of Biblical texts.
I wish I had read more widely, and much earlier in life, and woken up much earlier, but at least I have made up ground academically since I left over a decade ago. I will just never get back those wasted years.

Street-Talk with Jehovah's Witnesses
by Vanderhoven7 instreet-talk with jehovah's witnesses.
opening up a street-level dialogue with jehovah's witnesses:.
since this will probably be a one time occurrence, an important objective of any street encounter is to bless jws with doubt about their beloved organization.. after exchanging niceties, you might say something like:.

That strategy worked with a few, who were surprised to learn about it ! I also had one or two actually honestly answer my question about something they found troubling ! Their honesty surprised me, and of course I was able to explain more upon the subject that troubled them, and where to go, places like JW Facts.com etc to find out more.
When doing that I quickly explained that the guy who ran the Site asks you to e-mail him if you find any mistakes, which I hoped reassured them as to the honesty of the Site.
I really do not know if any of this had an effect, but I hope it helped them in some way.

I think Van that JW's claim that there religion is Bible Based is true.
Based only means that is the foundation you are working from, not something you are sticking rigidly to, as in Politics, a movement may be based upon the ideas of Karl Marx and therefore claim to be Marxist, but not stick to what were in fact his ideas close enough for Marxist Historians to agree with that Label.
That distinction is probably lost upon JW's and they probably think their weird and wonderful interpretations and twisting of Scripture is "the truth" ,which plainly is not so, but, regardless, those interpretations are "based" upon the Bible.
I have found it pointless and time wasting to actually try to debate Doctrine with JW's, but what I have done with some is reveal that I used to be a JW, and then say quickly, "There are several reasons why I am no longer a JW, a lot disturbed me deep down, surely there must be at least ONE thing that disturbs you about the JW Org ?"
Usually they come back with " No, I believe we have the Truth", then I say, (maybe) " Well one thing that disturbed and saddened me was the huge hidden Paedophile problem that is in the JW org". You are then away. But if something is more appropriate then do go for that, but rarely will arguing Doctrine work, their minds are shut fast against taking on board what is after all just another interpretation.

Testimony of a JW elder and pioneer

Two Elders who visited me to find out why I no longer attended, about 6 months after I left, tried the old loyalty question on me, posing it in different words two or three times.
I neatly sidestepped the question twice, the third time i just went silent, eventually one of them broke the silence, and off the conversation went with me again giving no answer.
It was SO tempting to say to this arrogant pair , " You PROVE to me it IS god's Organisation", knowing I could smash any proof they liked to offer, but that would have exposed me to a charge of Apostasy I feared, and at the time I simply wished to fade, not be DF'd or anything, because I hoped to convince my JW family it was all Hogwash. Now that I know my JW family will never leave, I don't give a shit.

Reminder re: Spammers
by Simon injust a reminder about spammers.. please ignore them!.
they are idiots, we have a real "gay-for-j" zealot right now who hasn't got the message that they are not wanted and no one is interested in their bible-fantasy gibberish.
there's a certain irony that their own site is covered in "don't spam" rules but they think it's acceptable to do it to others.

Thanks Simon, such people are a right pain in the arse, but it is common on all sorts of Social Media places, it must be a new form Mental Deficiency, probably exacerbated by too much time to waste in Lock Down.
On Facebook you get Trolling Spammers from the Left Wing on Right Wing places , and vice versa. Why ? what do they seek to achieve ??
The disruption they cause often does distract from what should be the primary aim of certain sites and Pages, which I guess is their pathetic aim, but they achieve little in real terms, apart from maybe getting a World Record in being blocked and banned perhaps !

Will You Get Back To Normal After Covid Subsides?
by minimus insome say we will never get back to pre-pandemic days.
others say we should expect to live with masks and social distancing as the “new normal “.
still others are hopeful that we can live life realizing there might never be an end to covid or cancer or influenza but our lives must continue to go on.
-
Phizzy
I hope we do not go back to what society was before. I hope we have learned that there are new ways of working, better for the Planet, and that the workers we should most value are those who bravely kept Society going DURING the Pandemic.
The frontline Workers of many kinds, health Service, care workers, staff in Supermarkets, Refuse collectors etc etc.
We could do without Billionaires , but not vital workers.
As to the lifting of restrictions, yes some may safely be lifted in the U.K, as our numbers are low, but we must beware, until the WOLE WORLD is vaccinated we cannot relax our guard. New strains will be flowing in at a high rate from various parts of the Globe, we need to protect ourselves from these, a vaccination is not a total protection from ANY strain, and may be a poor protection against one or more of the new ones that are spreading right now.
If we are silly, and act as if it is all over, abandoning masks and distancing etc etc we will be back to thousands of new cases and rising in no time.

It is now accepted by a consensus of Scholars that the verses in Chapter 14 of 1st Corinthians, saying that women should not speak in Church, are a later Interpolation.
Why then would it be impossible that Chapter 15 was added later , and not penned by Paul, or rather dictated by Paul ? It is more than likely he did have something to say on the Resurrection, but we cannot be sure that what we have in the earliest MS we have, which are 4th Century, is exactly what Paul dictated.
To be categorical that what is in 1st Corinthians 15 was written at Paul's behest is to make an assertion for which there is no proof.
Which is the problem that Bible believers have, we only have Copies of many many previous copies, we know that Interpolations, Editing, Redacting etc occurred before those Copies were made.

An amusing thing to do, if you have the time, but it will have ZERO effect on JayDubs.
To get through to JW's you need a lot of inside knowledge, and to be quite crafty, or they simply chuck away your Letter.
I hope she has fun doing it though!
