More on the "Apostacy" movie

We went to the Cinema to watch it when it first came out, I thought it was well very done, but what surprised me was the rest of the audience got really involved ! when some really silly J.W stuff was said they laughed loudly, but when the Elders did their bit and shunning was shown in action, there were distinctly heard remarks of "disgusting" from the audience !

Now this was in a posh arty Cinema in the South of England, where the audience is usually very restrained !

I would say the Director achieves a lot with this Movie !

if jesus memorial meal is meant to follow on from the jewish passover celebration, would someone explain to me why the jehovah's witness community are holding their "lord's evening meal" on tuesday 4th april; when the jewish community are not holding their 2023 passover until the 5th april 2023?

doesn't this mean that the jehovahs have got their date wrong?.

I pointed this out to a JW lady I knew well many years ago, she was one who insisted the Org. was right about everything.

When I had proved your point to her, she flounced off, throwing over her shoulder the comment "I don't care if we celebrate it on the wrong day", !!???

But I guess that will be the attitude of J.W's today, sadly, they really do not care about Truth, which is ironic in the extreme, the way they bandy that word around.

the short answer is no, it is not.. i have heard one or two proposals that it is, including from langfocus, a usually excellent youtube channel.. but no, english is actually a germanic language which has borrowed many words from other languages.

here are several reasons why english is germanic at its core .... 1. verb forms.

It depends how you define Hybrid in regard to natural language. But I think we can understand how English developed when we look at the history.

What is quite unusual is the decision made about 1500 or a bit later ? to include a lot of Latin or Latin derived words, and some Greek, but I guess we should be grateful, we have a large vocabulary now to choose from, but a confusing one in some instances, where we do not know the etymology personally, and cannot ourselves see how the word came to be used as it is ! But this was not language evolving by osmosis.

Hence my Dictionary of Etymology gets some use !

i have from a very reliable source that he attends one of the poughkeepsie ny congregations.

i think there are 5 congregations there might be worth paying a visit if anyone lives near there..

Poughkeepsie , in the Wappinger language means 'the reed-covered lodge by the little-water place', well Tony found a little watering place there apparently !

Almost got caught lying about listening in to yesterday's Memorial

i have not attended any kingdom hall meetings in 10 years.

the elders gave up on me a while ago.. the last 3 years i get phone calls to listen in to zoom meetings.

listened in several times... nothing has changed!

" no one listens because subconsciously they block it out." Yup, what persuaded me to refuse to do anymore Public Talks was, after me putting a lot of work in to one,as I always did, then as I delivered it, I looked at the audience and realised most were zoned out in reality. And I was an animated speaker !

I guess that coincided with my process of "reversing out" speeding up. I'm so glad I am clear of all that crap.

Most JW's are only in it to save their own skin from a fictional Armageddon, and only turn up to be seen doing so, ESPECIALLY THE MEMORIAL. hypocritical TWATS !

There is a long Post from the incredible "Leolaia" from years ago, you need a bit of time to read it if you search for it, but she proves that they ALWAYS get the wrong day !

Of course, the Gospels contradict each other as to which day Jesus did the "Last Supper" as well, to complicate things, but what a load of fuss the org. makes about NOT really celebrating Christs death ! Farcical !

Other old Threads have shown that even the Passover celebrated by Jews is dodgy as to provenance, there was no Exodus, and Passover "replaced" a former Pagan festival !

We're you regular at all the meetings?

we're you regular at the 3 meetings days watchtower hade?

i remember our was tuesday, thursdays and saturdays.

in reality it's crazy they hade so many meetings.

Yup. I was the same as you guys, always there, i was there with two other guys on the night the whole area got snowed off, nobody else turned up! We did a sort of quick "Meeting" with just us three ! How crazy was THAT ?

I was THE best attender in my Congo, never ill, rarely took a vacation. Which is why I was surprised that when I stopped going, just like that, nobody came to see me for 6 months, and only then because two Elders thought they would DF me for Apostasy, they failed. But such a loving Org. aren't they ?

What an immense waste of time, money, and my life ! I'm so glad I woke up and left.
