I do hope that the JW org does not hide behind their previous disingenuous and poor excuse that they don't actually work with children and that it is the parents responsibility to protect their own children.

(I hope the Law is tight enough to cover such pathetic excuses.)

What utter tripe that excuse is ! The number of CSA cases over many decades show that they have a problem with not implementing a proper Child Protection Programme. Not just a bit of paper, a "policy", an actual Programme.

Small local Clubs near me, Sporting etc., like Clay Pigeon Shooting, and Football etc. ALL have a proper active Programme with an Appointed Child Protection officer, and STRICT rules about proper "chaperoning" if the C.P. person is not present, a parent or a guardian appointed by the parents must then be present.

If small clubs, with less than 50 members can do this, WHY CAN'T the J.W ORG ???

To All Those Keen To Tell Us About Their Beliefs

we seem to have had an influx of religiots - the people who want to tell us all about how we / the wts / whoever are wrong, wrong, wrong about everything and how right they are.

they obviously have special insight, or voices (probably voices, right?

) telling them the real truth.. as proof, there is inevitably a wall of random scripture references and quotes.. sorry, but we're not here for that.

Just to get back on to the Thread's O.P, I wish to thank Simon for Posting his ongoing actions to stop religious nuts cluttering up this Site. They can find somewhere else to preach.

Of course intelligent discussion of individual Texts and how the J.W interpretation, or often, usage of them is wrong, are helpful to J.W's who visit, and those who are just leaving. That I presume is still welcome.

But thanks again Simon, and for your work in keeping this place going ! I hope you earn a Shekel or two from the Advertising, at present some rather pretty girls in underwear are vying for my attention, in an Ad on the right, very welcome !

Secret Elders Book? Bwahahaha!

i remember a couple of decades ago when the internet was relatively young and the wt was at war with it, that they were battling to keep the pay attention book secret, commencing legal action against anyone who published it online (and of course, trying to out anyone who leaked it).

i think it was a norwegian skeptics organisation who had it available for download and dared the wt lawyers to come after them.. so i guess the new shepherd the flock book came out to try and put the genie back in the bottle and reassert some air of mystery and secrecy back into the equation.. so i typed jehovah's witnesses secret elder book into google.

colour me gobsmacked!

Where it is important is where it exposes all the ways they have to DF you, there are more pages on that than any on actual Shepherding ! And where it plainly shows they STILL give wrong direction in cases of CSA and other abuse, violence etc. still saying 'phone Legal first !

The appropriate Authorities, trained and qualified to handle such things, Morally should be contacted straight away, even if there is only a rumour, especially of CSA.

ANY delay allows the Perp. time to put pressure on the Victim (s) and any witnesses, this HAS happened !

THAT is the point, they DID have a suitable word for a Ball shape in Hebrew, the Writer chose not to use it, because he envisaged the Earth as shown in my previous Post ! He used the word for circle , which if I recall was also used for a platter.

Which is why it is disingenuous, and totally inaccurate for the JW 's to claim they knew the real shape of the Earth !

You can search the old Threads on this if you type in "A Sphere is not a Circle ", the first guy to mention this actually used that as his username IIRC.

he makes the comparison between the ''slave class ( who disappointed others when the end didn't come ) to a barking watchdog ( who in his enthusiasm barks at nothing in the middle of the night and wakes up the owner).

About 40 or even 50 years ago I came up with an interpretation of a Scripture different to that of how the G.B interpreted matters, in the Tuesday night Book study. It really was only a minor nuance, nothing big.

The Elder conducting told me in a supercilious way "That is not what the Society says " ( they didn't in those days say G.B or Org.)

I just shrugged, the great thing was later in the year "The Society" published my interpretation exactly, Ha Ha .

That Noo Lite can be a bugger ! for some.

This is how they viewed the Cosmos, flat earth, with a tent like dome above, I think this view persisted in Israelite and Jewish thought for a long time, even into the first Century and Paul's time :
