  Why disfellowship must be eliminated for the survival of the WT itself

  this topic i digress about why the watchtower relaxing the rules of disfellowship is essential for its survival.

  many things i'm going to say are not my ideas, some are, the point is, i'm condensing everything in a logical and concise way.. the first thing we have to keep in mind is that the wt's main objective in instituting disfellowship has always been not to lose members because of the damage that a dissident could do, or to avoid gaining new members because of the bad reputation of a confessed sinner in the his/her region.

  in the end, the more active members, the more money to the coffers.. in this case of disfellowship due to apostasy, to avoid any spark, texts were sought out of context that even prohibited saying "hi".

  So very true ! Long before I woke up and left, I said to a JW "I get a better welcome in so-and-so than I do in the K.H. In the place I referred to, everybody said "hello" and chatted and asked after my welfare, some in the K.H could not even be arsed to say "Good Morning".

  The trouble is, you don't realise this fully until you leave.

  Tinkering at the edges of the various things that are systemically wrong with J.W org, be it DFing or whatever, will not stop the steady flow of those leaving IMO.

  I made that mistake twice ! the last time I was surprised, because I thought I was being careful, I went for a beer with a friend, and in the bar was a lovely XJW guy I had known for years, he looked at me and said "Hello Phizzy" What the ? Apparently I had Posted this funny tale on here, and he recognised the details !

  My decision.

  i’ve decided to disassociate from the jw organisation.

  i cannot be part of a community that blatantly rejects the sacrifice of jesus in that demonic memorial ritual.

  amazing what information you find when you start researching.. i’m writing my letter and posting it to the kingdom hall this morning.

  Agreed ThomasMore, when I left all those years ago, having been from a well known family of Special Pioneers, Elders etc. etc, and having myself been well known in my Circuit and beyond, with a reputation for lots of Field Service, and being the very best of meeting attenders, it was a shock to many.

  The time they spent, and the mental gymnastics they went through to find a reason, was a delight and a real laugh to see !

  As there was no "sin", they eventually came up with the rumour that I had left to start my own religion ! When I heard that, I laughed and said "What a great idea ! There's $$$ in that ! ".

  Of course, they could not admit to themselves that the reason was I had discovered that it was not "the truth", and worse, that it was founded upon, and maintained by lies.

  My grandmother called my mother

  so, i’m just posting this as a warning to lurking jws.

  if you’re still on the fence, here is a story.. my grandmother, now in her 80s hasn’t talked to anyone in the family for over 20 years ever since my mother was the last one of her children that left ‘the truth’, she had sent my mother a card to never talk to her again.

  so here we are 21 years later, she gets a call out of the blue that she needed help, she hadn’t been able to get into her kitchen.

  I have to point out that though that callous attitude is general among J.W's,i.e. forget those who no longer attend etc. that there are exceptions in individuals, and some Congregations are quite good at care of the Elderly, but I am sure that what I am referring to is rare.

  I see more true "Love among yourselves" in many other denominations, and even in some secular/ non-religious Orgs. I am amazed at how much these people do, very altruistic and really caring.

  J.W's as an Org. stand condemned by Scripture, by the very words of Jesus , as not being his followers.

  I hope Grandma gets all the help and support needed Anony Mouse, but what a scandal that the local J.W's do nothing !

  this is a sobering reminder of what happened some 40 years ago when raymond franz and others were literally kicked out from the jehovah's witnesses for having pre-arranged private spiritual discussions.lesson: paragraph 7 is another example of the i and t in dr. steven hassan's bite model of the 21st century cult - information and thought control at its best!!!!

  " Yeh, good job ... Governing Body. " It does seem that this particular iteration of the G,B is particularly inept at handling anything at all, worse than ever, and previous G.B's were terrible at it !

  Every move they make now has the effect of doing more damage to the Org.

  Long may they continue to blunder on in this manner !

  " it’s far better to fade ", for some yes. We did, for the family still in reason, but it brings no closure fro me. I have decided to stay the way I am for the future though, after so many years I see no advantage to us in Disassociating.

  Miss da Silva has made her decision, but this Thread must be so helpful to J.W's contemplating their future moves.

  That brought back memories for me too BB, we used to be expected to flog the old Green coloured NWT D. to D.

  I think sales would have been higher, if they hadn't gone for that god-awful colour ! Was that just to make it look different from "Christendom's Bible" ??

  The NWT was a better version to use than the KJV Bible, but suffered from not having a single real Scholar of the original languages on the Committee, and of course from " Believer Bias" , the main driver being the weird ideas of Freddie Franz.

  The latest iteration of the NWT is worse in many ways, more blatant and unashamed in ignoring the real meaning of Scripture, to push their wacky Doctrines.

  You may well be right Van, but can you stop at that and not give the Org. any more ideas please ?

  By the way, if they do exactly as you say, surely that makes you their Spirit Guide ? LOL
