Thanks for the Link PP, to the paper by Dr. Trevore, I have not seen this claim by anyone else, but may have missed it, how did other Scholars receive his hypothesis about the T of R ?

Old Greek Daniel's Son of Man
by peacefulpete inagain this is large topic, some of which has been discussed elsewhere on this site.
the basic question i want to discuss is the identification of the 'someone like a son of man" in daniel 7. as we all know christians understood the figure to be the messiah (christ), so the question posed is did the author intend it to be a singular personage or a collective symbol of the holy of israel as jews typically read it?
or how about the unexpected idea that the "someone like a son of man" was the very same character as the "ancient of days" in another role?.

New approach to ministry
by Mikejw inthere is a new approach to ministry where the direction is to just talk to people and listen to what they want to talk about.
the new school for the midweek meeting is completely different and is all about the new approach .
even before the no reporting changes field service dropped right off.

I always suspected in my latter years of being in, that even the D to D work as it was then was mainly just to keep J.W's busy, and feeling they actually were preaching, and maybe teaching.
Now that is ALL it is, something to keep J.W's a bit busy, to feel they are "doing their bit", in a way that is simply not at all onerous for them, most hated D to D, they can get away with doing none now.
Converts from the public are now totally a thing of the past, unless a J.W comes across the rare Gullible Fool !

Prisoners of the Mind
by iloowy.goowy inhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dadlccbe_js.
have you ever seen a full-grown elephant weighing thousands of pounds chained to a small stake in the ground when you visited a circus?
did it ever enter your mind and make you wonder how such a small stake in the ground could hold such a huge animal from straying outside the boundaries of the length of its chain and stake?

" there is a new approach these days of just chatting and listening not even talking about the Bible at all first time.
in one of the videos a sister said she loves the new way, she just talks to people about anything and doesn’t bring up the Bible at all."
Marvellous ! The Org. is determined to make it as easy as possible for J.W's to stay in the Org. This means that the ones leaving or becoming inactive, has them really worried. Now there is more incentive to stay, and do Fake Ministry, Report this Sham Time spent, and be counted as active.
Many, even though being aware it is all Bullshite will be happy to stay, as it is their Social Club, and they don't want a rift with family.
The funny thing is that in the latter years of being in and slowly waking up, this is EXACTLY the kind of "Ministry" I used to do ! I worked it that I rarely went D to D with another JW, saying I felt I had more conversations when I was alone at the door.
Admittedly I was more conscientious than today's JW's will be in the main, and turned the conversation toward what I was supposed to be there for on a lot of occasions, and placed loads of magazines. My Report was honest as to actual time spent, but my "ministry" would have been frowned upon by other J.W's had they known what I was up to. Now it is Officially sanctioned !
The Org. is struggling with retention, and losing, will this + beards help put a finger in the Dyke ? ( No, that is a metaphor, not a Euphemism !) LOL.
If this makes little difference to Retention, what will they ease up on next I wonder ? Their options must be small !

trimethylmaneria (TMAU) fecal body odor

No one who did any kind of work for others in the Cong. I was in was paid ! The Elders would delegate as usual, never do any work themselves, apart from one notable exception, an Elder who was a real Christian !
In the case of these young sisters, they took it upon themselves to do this, quite admirable IMO.

I imagine the actual Medical Condition is rare, it is usually commonly called "Fish Odour Syndrome", and if you have this, caused by your Genes, there is no known cure, just things that can be done.
I think that most of the few smelly J.W's that we encountered suffered from a lack of personal cleanliness.
One Elder told me he was tasked with telling a "Sister" about her Pong, as he drove to her house he agonised about how to approach the matter in a kindly way, from an oblique angle at first, and then gently getting on to advice on how to be clean and not smell. He said that when he got in there, he just found himself saying :
"Frankly Sister, you Stink !" Ha Ha. It worked though ! but it took the help of some lovely young J.W "Sisters", to make sure it lasted and there was no relapse, they regularly visited her, and made sure she kept clean, and her smell was at least acceptable !

The Akedah
by peacefulpete inthe genesis 22 episode, often referred to as the akedah (aqueda) ie "the binding" is a topic worthy a masterclass in textual and theological development.
a comprehensive discussion regarding this development would involve volumes and still leave much to be uncertain.
in short, the internal contradictions the narrative offers as it appears in genesis have inspired millennia of interpretive expansions and elaborations.

Thanks Kaleb O.W. a helpful contribution to this subject for me. And as a person who has long been fascinated by how Israelite Theology evolved, and how the Bible was corrupted almost as soon as the Writers put Quill to Parchment, and yet how the attempts at disguising the early beliefs and practices can be revealed by careful Study, your Post was informative and enjoyable.
Your use of the Stories as metaphor is the only practical use for Scripture that I see today, that, and understanding the beliefs and culture of Jews and Christians.

" two girls under six??? And he's complaining? "
Paedophiles simply do not have the capacity to see how very wrong and downright evil what they do is.
Hence they are a permanent danger to the vulnerable, and permanent removal from Society is the only way to ensure the safety of possible future Victims. No Legislature or Justice System does this as far as I know, but they do for people known to be Murderers who will always present a danger, it should be done to Paedos as well.

Several matters you touch on in the two posts above have long fascinated me.
This section of Genesis you refer to for a start, as it is plain that a number of "hands" have been involved in editing this story, and redacting it, actions we see a good number of times in Genesis, as with every other Bible Book of course, but Genesis is a bit of a mess, it could have done with a proper Editor with a keen eye to tidy it up ! I'm glad there was not, as we can clearly see where interpolations have been made, and where thinly disguised clues are that show the continuing influence of Canaanite religion, including child sacrifice, which continued probably almost up to the Babylonian Exile perhaps, or even longer ?? (I really must read Prof. Stavrakopoulou's Book on this in the time of Manasseh. ).
It is easy too to actually see the clumsy Interpolations, as in this passage, and with the Flood Story etc.
On the matter of the beliefs of the various Gnostic Christians, we have a distinct lack of material, no doubt a lot destroyed by the "orthodox" group who prevailed as the main Christian group.
I hope maybe someone else will comment on this Thread with more info. on these fascinating things
