Lithuania Set to Mirror Norway's Approach on Jehovah's Witnesses
by raymond frantz init is proposed to the seimas not to grant state recognition to the religious community of jehovah's witnesses.
lithuania05/05/2024 09:30. jehovah's witnesses; baptism associative / e. ovcharenko / bns photo.. it is proposed to the seimas to refuse to grant state recognition to the lithuanian jehovah's witnesses religious community.. community representatives told bns that they hope that parliamentarians, taking into account the practice of the european court of human rights, will make a different decision.. the draft resolution registered by the chairman of the human rights committee of the seimas, tomas vytautas raskevičius, states that this community does not meet the requirements of the constitution and the law, that its education and rites do not conflict with laws and decency.. "the ministry of justice has determined that the religious teaching of this community is possibly not compatible with the constitution of our country in two aspects.
the first is that jehovah's witnesses oppose blood transfusions due to certain aspects related to health care (...).

" Shame on WTC Legal for their twisting of the facts."
As the WTC Legal Dept. " facts" are forensically examined by Court after Court, the more they are exposed as lies. They have hid behind " Freedom of Religion" and careful weasel words for many a long year. Ever since the Aus. Royal Commission Lawyer, a Mr. Stewart IIRC, showed how to cut through their crap, and expose the truth, other Courts will not fall for their former tactics.
Either they actually respect basic Human Rights, or Country after Country will remove recognition, but more importantly, will remove Tax breaks.
Once it costs the Org. Big Bucks, they change their policies and practices, but how disgusting that "God's Spirit directed Org." only does that when their $$$ are threatened !

Not a mirror for sure, but the issue is how the Org. actually puts its beliefs in to practice.

The appeal to the Right to Belief is NOT at at issue here, namely Freedom of Religion, which is always trumped by other Human Rights, the ones that guarantee many things such as the Right to Family Life and Freedom of Conscience.
What is at issue are the Practices, and Policies , based upon mere belief, that the J.W org. enacts, that run counter to those other Human Rights. Hence most civilised Countries ban by Law FGM for example.
What the J.W org. actually DOES, which deny basic Human Rights, is what is being challenged, and rightly so, and would be upheld by the ECHR, I hope, and am reasonably confident of.

Study in the Work of Late Redactors
by peacefulpete inpresently there are a number of hypotheses attempting to disentangle the sources and composition of the ot.
the 19th century approaches (wellhausen et al.
) opened the world's eyes to the reality that the torah and histories are the work of a number of contributors with particular agendas and vocabulary.

Thanks P.P , it is a minefield Textual Criticism, as you say, and we cannot but view the evidence, and draw conclusions we cannot prove satisfactorily in many cases, but this one is very convincing !
What we can say is that a very corrupted Text, done deliberately with Interpolations and Redactions etc, and the odd Scribal error, is ALL we have in the very late MSS we have, and this applies to the Christian Greek Scriptures with even more transparency.
What fascinates me is that we can trace the Evolution of Israelite/Jewish Theology easily, and the later evolution of Theology/Christology in the N.T.

This is a no brainer
by oncebitten inthe insertion of jehovah into the nt is only understandable to me if there was an ot quote.
however by far the vast majority of the time this is not the case.
instead we see clear bias in the nwt.

The Insertion of the Name in the N.T has been debated on other Threads, and I know all the arguments for and against, but what is a "no brainer" is the the JW org. are Hypocritical in doing this, they say that in producing their NWT they follow the rule that if something is not in the earliest MSS, then they do not include it, or they highlight this fact.
The point is, there is not one single early MSS, or fragment thereof, or of course a later one from anywhere near the 1st Century, that writes the Name ANYWHERE in those MSS !

1963 Resolution Condemning the United Nations
by Sea Breeze inquote from that world wide resolution: .
that, in order to prevent the destruction of the nations by their own means in war, the nations further refused the surrender of their sovereignty to god’s messianic kingdom by setting up a society of nations, which, since 1945, has taken the form and the name of the united nations, with international headquarters at new york city.
this international organization stands for world sovereignty by political men.

But some of those "Resolutions" fulfilled Bible prophecy according to the Org. !

Thanks for the Link Vienne !
What we see in this is that the various Christological/Theological ideas that originated in the 1st Century C.E or earlier, were continued long after the 1st Century, not news to us of course, but it gives the lie to the impression the J.W Org. and other Sects like to give, that there was a unified set of beliefs held in the 1st Century by one set of Christians, whose beliefs and teachings the J.W's and others could "get back to".
Priestley has decided on a Unitarian view.
But why should just one view of, say, the Divinity of Christ, or when he became Divine or whatever, be the correct one ? "the truth", and who decides now ?
And by what Authority do they decide ? Priestley was deciding for himself, as the other Sects do. The most powerful Sects become the "orthodox", but, as the man with the wooden leg said, it's all a matter of a pinion.

Moving on in a new chapter
by redsetter2 inmoving on is the hardest thing anyone has to cope with.. i have officially left the org.
and now it feels my family have been waiting to do this for a long time, officially shunning me, even though they were practically doing this whilst i was still in.. it feels like i've accomplished a victory and at the same time i feel guilty i was tangled up in communication with someone who "hid who they were" claiming to leak information from bethel.
i got the call from the man who i thought i worked with.

" No regrets about getting out of there! " .
me too but :
It means even more than "no regrets" to me, once I had left, and got rid of those "vestiges" I had the Freedom of Mind to drink in the pure Waters of Truth, truth that was backed by incontrovertible Facts and Evidence !
It was incredible, and looking back, what I got from the org. was like brackish, sewage infested water, the waters of truth ( REAL Truth) were like drinking from a cool Mountain Stream of the purest water on Earth !
Moving on to a new Chapter is all very well, but in the end, getting to, and drinking of, that Pure Water should be the goal, and may as many as possible achieve that !
