  What was covered up in your congregation??

  family move to remote pacific island to serve were the need is great get a mention in the year book.. however one of the (married) boys in the large family has sex with his sister while his wife is in hospital giving birth to their child.

  all hushed up not even a word said and hes now an elder d.fing people for lesser crimes.. young couple dating leave the jws and move in togather doing drugs partying ect.. his family grandfather,uncles, dad ect are all elders.. after a few years they decide to come back to the jws and are married in the k.h a few months latter.. 1 elder questions them getting married in the k.h and is voted down by his family.. to many drunks and c.s.a to mention.. karter..

  One that I learned of about three years ago was of an Elder , who was not such at the time, maybe an M.S, when in his late teens or early 20's, he sexually abused a young sister circa 13 years old.

  This was covered up , probably by him being unbelievably (literally, I don't believe it !) "repentant" and because of the time that had passed, no thought was given to the poor victim whose life he ruined, or any care offered to her, of course. She didn't count, an Elder's reputation did.

  He still serves as an Elder, when he is an obvious danger to young girls and should be on the Sex Offenders Register !

  The Body of Elders concerned disgust me beyond words, they have no Moral Compass.

  New instructions on not using sisters to manage KH computer ?

  since covid in france, especially in the countryside with lack of brothers, it was quite common that some sisters were using the computer at the back of the kingdom hall to manage zoom session.. i heard a rumor that new instructions, maybe a july letter, stated that this was reserved for male only, even unbaptised publishers, but no sister if there is at least a male available.

  that would be a steps back and disappointment for these sisters.

  last week i heard at my mom’s house how they were happy that this service was available for them, a proof that the org was moving forward.

  Ages of each user here?

  i'm interested to know the age demographics here.

  it must be significantly different to other exjw forums.

  it would be a damning report for watchtower if most of us appear to have left for decades.. you don't have to mention your exact age, you could always say "in my 50s".. i am in my 70s.

  Has The "Evil Slave" Died Out?

  those of us who have deep roots into watchtower remember the shadowy whispers about "the evil slave" when we were kids.. for those that need to get up to speed: .

  Thanks S.B great question, as someone else said. They do this a lot of course, picking which bits they say are symbolic and which bits literal.

  I spoke with an old J.W a few weeks back, and though much of my side of the conversation was showing the errors in having faith in the words of men, he maintained that he felt the J.W's had "got most of it right", I did not launch in to lots of stuff, or anything much that I could have, as I feel at this time he needs the religion, he is in his eighties, and his wife is terminally ill.

  But he DID say he could not believe the figure of 144,000 in Rev. was literal, which surprised me a bit, I just said "Yes, if that is literal why not the all that is in the verses around it ?"

  I hope to speak with him again soon, not to attack his faith in any way, but to be a support to him in his time of need, I love the old boy, he was a generous guy, and an Elder that, rarely, for an Elder, "got his hands dirty" by doing work other Elders would have assigned to someone else. Work that many did not know he did, he would tidy up a garden for one of the J.W's for example, but not many would have known of this, or the other things like that which he was accustomed to doing, he was a real Shepherd too, he did real pastoral work.

  But, if a chink is appearing with him, a lifelong J.W for over 80 years, then others must be having more questions that they do not push to the backs of their minds.

  I wonder if anyone has stats/experience of how much actual door knocking they do now ? I got the impression in my area in the U.K it dropped off a little when the carts were introduced, but dropped a LONG way when the new reporting thing came in ??

  They identify themselves as to who they are to those of us in the know by the old openers they use, they have no really new ones.

  Plus the openers come across as weird, walking up to a stranger's front door, uninvited, and then asking one of those dumb questions, IS WEIRD ! and the general public as soon as they hear the "opener" think, "Oh Oh,Religious Nutter".

  Holding a grudge

  i read something recently on reddit (not sure what thread) where a person related how some jw told them that ‘they hold a grudge’.. this reminded me of something an old jw acquaintance said to me some years back when i related my bad experience in the religion.. so, apparently, jehovah’s witnesses feel they should be forgiven for anything.

  people should forget all about it and act like nothing happened and be charitable towards them, etc… when i read in james and ephesians i got the sense ‘holding a grudge’ was referring to the things average people do to offend each other.. i don’t see it applying to a religion that claimed to speak for god and who engendered hateful and unchristian attitudes towards people.. i know because i experienced this.. in addition, some people’s lives were damaged by listening to faulty teachings and interference in things that were clearly none of anybody’s business.. one case in point: them knocking worldly careers and now there are thousands of destitute jws in senior years with nothing.. then in 2023 the religion does away with a century old teaching about counting hours in the ministry.

  meanwhile, i got judged over this.

  Dearest Long Hair Gal,

  I think holding a grudge against the Org. itself is a GOOD thing, at least for me, it motivates me to continue spending time in various places on-line to counter J.W nonsense they have posted, so that people can see the errors and often lies they post, and see them for what they are.

  And I think that what the Org. itself has done to us, and is still doing to many, is UNFORGIVEABLE , why ? because they KNOW exactly what they are doing, Mind Controlling people for $$$, they KNOW they are telling Huge Lies, they KNOW the damage they do, even causing suicides, and they do not CARE ! as long as the $$$ keeps on rolling in.

  there was a knock at my door and i thought it was my take-away being delivered.. long story short, it was 2 elders calling to see me.

  i guess to re-activate me.

  once they said who they were i recognised them.

  I would hate that for myself ! I simply would not wish to be associated with that lot in anyone's mind ! How EMBARRASSING !

  Plus, if you ever attend a K.H for any other reason than a Funeral, the J.W's fondly imagine that deep down you still believe, and that relieves their Cognitive Dissonance, now, I wouldn't want to do that, it was the Cog. Diss, that grew stronger in me that made me wake up !
