How about "Jesus came to the Temple in 1919" or something similar. It is insanity to print as fact more than once something for which there is no proof, once might be accidental, or bravado, more than once, or as in this case, very often, is insanity.

I tried asking this question of a JW who was a MS, putting it in the form of "When did the "Truth" become the truth and how do you know it is ?" and I got the deer in the headlights look. He was the same guy who admitted to me that they take scriptures out of context in a totally dishonest way, he said, "I don't care as long as it gets them listening at the door " !!!!

i had a few comments to make regarding paul grundy's jwfact.com website.
these comments are in no way meant to defend jws, but only to point out illogical statements.

It is more a matter of understanding how English is used. We who use the language, including our Australian cousins like Paul, unless we are Autistic, do not use English in a strict literal way.
So Paul saying they were "forced" was another way of saying that the GB offered no alternative, but callously let the Malawian JW's suffer and die. In Mexico they gave an alternative, which they could have done for Malawi.
Simple to understand if you are not overly pedantic.
It would be the same if they allowed some to take all blood components in a tranfusion in one country and not another, I suppose you would say then that the GB do not "force" the ones who refuse a lifesaving transfusion in the country where it is forbidden to risk death, it is their choice.

"The society" ? what's that then ? (I know really ,it is the writing dept of the WTBS) but it sounds so wrong it obviously is.
So, they cannot know for sure that what they call truth, is actually truth, so they really should stop using the phrase "In the truth".

It isn't any good as instruction for life in the 21st Century, whatever it "teaches", it is a collection of strange writings by men very much of their time, where it touches on matters scientific it is wrong, on matters historical, mistaken and/or lying, on matters of morality- doubtful.
Pick another book if you want to learn anything useful.
i used to think that the theocratic ministry school was extremely valuable.. and i think it does have it's value.. but i think public speaking has changed so dramatically the last few years.. last time i went to the kh... the public speakers were speaking at a very "low" level.. i think part of the thing the current crop of religious speakers (like joel osteen, etc... they are so dynamic.. and even speakers like tony robbins.... i think the style of speaking for witness speakers has become old school.. granted - yes... they have an audience that is "obligated" to listen to them.
but they have not evolved at all as public speakers - and probably is getting worse.. most public speakers aren't glued to an outline.... just a thought.... .

I remember a couple of good speakers over the years, and hundreds of piss poor ones.
The best advice I ever heard given was by a C.O ,who was Scottish, and he was remarking how dull a lot of talks were and said :
"If ye cannae put fire in ya talk, put ya talk in the fire !" (provide your own scottish accent as you read this)
I guess it is very difficult to get enthusiastic over the same old same old, also the outlines are really, as our Scottish C.O would have said "Dour"
the article talks about the obstacles in getting the "millenial dawn" series of books into the hands of "seekers of truth," and how "coleporters" spread the word.. so, why is this important book which evidently carried a message of truth not available on the wt cd rom?

If any JW were to teach the drivil that was in Russells books today they would be DF'd quicker than you could say "pyramid".
If it is not truth now, it was not then, so those colporteurs were spreading false doctrine and false prophecy, whats to admire about that ?
