Is Silent Lambs and Bill Bowen still relevant?

when i joined this forum in 2004, silent lambs was a very important venue for those who suffered the crime of child abuse in the jehovah's witness religion.

bill bowen was instrumental in exposing a lot of the cover up along with barbara anderson.

i was wondering if silent lambs is still relevant and does it still help abuse victims?.

Bill and his work, along with that of Barbara, and others, will always be relevant as long as the paedophile Problem of J.W Org remains. And it does remain. Despite their having to pay out huge sums in compensation they HAVE NOT CHANGED !!!

They have not instituted a proper active programme that will protect the Vulnerable, children and other vulnerable ones are as much at Risk within the Org as they ever were.

Keep up your good work, Bill, and all others involved ! Victims need support and love, and we need to keep fighting until the J.W Org does the morally right thing and makes sure no other child or vulnerable person can be Raped and Sodomised, or mentally Tortured or Physically Beaten in their despicable Organisation.

The JW org has bullied by using the Courts for many years. The Courts will no longer roll over and allow this, although they can be successful in bullying an individual, as happened recently, with the taking down of Videos etc of their Conventions.

They are very near to committing Perjury in many instances, one day they will be charged with that I hope, and will find that their outright lies won't work anymore either.

If they were truly gods organisation, they would have procedures in place to protect the vulnerable, and would not have to be so ashamed of their position, as one of the few organisations anywhere in the World who do not have such procedures. And they would not have to try to suppress the information getting to the Public that they are a Paedophile Paradise, would they ?

sometimes i forget how small-minded, petty, provincial, mean-spirited ignorant and judgemental it was and still is.... then i sit down with a jw relative, hoping to have a normal conversation and realize there is literally nothing to talk about.. nothing..... current events?

This is another problem their blatant hypocrisy, as shown by Gorby's experience, " then they began being angry "we are free to say what we want".

But we are not ! as soon as we say anything "against" the religion, even though what we say is perfectly true, we are shut down. As soon as we talk about political matters, maybe something as mildly political as criticising our particular Government's handling of the pandemic, they get all shifty and uncomfortable and won't converse about it.

One Rule for them, and one for us. Conversation about anything more interesting than their bad back or whatever ? forget it. Discussion in a civilised, intelligent and in depth way upon anything ? don't even consider it, it isn't that they do not want to, it is that they are simply incapable of that.

This makes any verbal contact with them both boring and pointless.

Pioneering for real

i promised mom i'd pioneer for a year after graduating hs.. but!

i didn't say where.. i chose a small store front kingdom hall in kane pa, one of the coldest places in nw pennsylvania.

they were impressed with their frosty weather.

I Regular Pioneered for a short time after High School and it was in the old 100 Hours a Month days, I soon packed that in, got a full time job, and when i was 25 started my pension, this was in August of 1975, when The End was supposed to come in October ! My pension did not pay out until I was 65, and actually I thought the " New System" would be here long before I ever drew it. I am so glad now I hedged my bets. I would have to live in a place with no bath or inside toilet now if I hadn't !

BOE Update! (as of 2020-07-31)

body of elder letters, announcements, and so forth will be next to "none" unless more elders decide to contact us and help out.. atlantis has lost three elders in the past two years.

two elders were disfellowshipped, and one disassociated and walk away a month ago.. when this happens receiving confidential documents is severed.

the last announcement we received was 2020-07-23. i was not about to send out a childish letter on "mold" in the kingdom halls.. there are people out there out of work and concerned about what they will eat tomorrow, and the watchtower is concerned with mold!.

May I add my heartfelt thanks for all you have done, it has been a fun time to peer in to how pathetic the JW world has become in recent years.

You never know, another " mole" may pop up and supply stuff, but, no matter, if that doesn't happen. We still find out eventually how the JW Org is slowly disintegrating as it withers away.

I agree TD, it saddens me that I have nothing to say to them when I meet up with a JW relatives, because they have nothing in their heads ! so conversation is a real pain.

And yet when I meet up with my real friends who have never been JW's, and some who are XJW's , the conversation flows around all sorts of subjects, Politics, Philosophy, History, Sport, the list is endless, and we talk for hours, or rather we did, before bloody Covid !

JW's have become grey little Zombie like people, with literally no mind of their own, it is like talking to a Robot.

Another thing you cannot talk about with them of course, is Celebrations. The Birthdays we enjoy with our non JW family, and of course Christmas, what a wonderful day that is for us ! When it is my Birthday, or my wife's, our kids make the whole day a celebration for us, presents galore, but take us out to wherever we want, and really show their love for us. And of course we do the same for them, wonderful.

None of this do we dare to mention to our JW family, they would just make a face like a Bulldog licking Piss off a Thistle.

Jesus Believed In Adam and Eve

We keep getting people claim that Jesus "believed" this or that. Remember, the Gospels are 90% Fiction, nobody can know for sure what he said, and certainly not what was in his mind if he did utter the words. He may have been referring to the various Stories, Adam and Eve, The Flood etc in an Allegorical sort of way, but probably it was more like Midrash, a common way of using Scripture in later times than his, but not unheard of. With Midrash, the stories are brought up to the time of the people listening, often changed in many ways, to suit the situation of their time.

I would hardly think they viewed the stories as 100% literal truth, or they would not have used them in the way they did. We need to get in to the contemporary minds of the time when the Books are written, and know how they would have viewed, and used, what they heard, not read back far later ideas from our time in to what was written.

100% Bible Literalism has a short History, from the late 19th Century to the present, started as an opposing view to the Textual Scholars who were by then showing more about what the Texts really said, and what the Writers meant.

Zoom meetings, how long ?

i was wondering two things, 1: how long in total are the zoom meetings, i presume the sunday one is the longest ?.

and 2: if you use zoom for free, the session only lasts 40 minutes, so do they have an intermission so people can log back in, or are all jw's expected to pay for the "privilege" ?.

Yes, especially when the JW ladies used to huddle in a group, and gossip, they will have to do that On-line now only, and the other "huddle", two or three Elders talking about who to get in the back Room next etc, again on line only. The JW ladies seem more Bitchy on Social Media than at the K.H, because they cannot be overheard, they forget I can see what they are saying about each other ! Who has blocked who LOL. But again, a different, and more destructive thing for their relationships.

And just the normal Social chit chat is gone. An XJW friend of mine has always, since he left, called it "The JW Social Club", he always said " Most don't believe it all, they just go for the Social side", and he is right, with that gone, another nail in the JW Org coffin !

What was Jesus "anointed" as?

it is illogical to say that “jesus was anointed as christ”.

that’s like saying that “jesus was anointed as anointed”.

the question that needs to be asked is: “what was jesus anointed as?”.

Having glanced at the Contents, it makes me realise what a Mammoth Task you have set yourself, with your Study of the 2nd. Temple period. You have my admiration, and thanks, for writing in a way that condenses the information in an easy to read and assimilate way !
