) but this second lockdown is ruining the economy and killing small businesses.. the first lockdown was forgivable because, at the time, nobody knew what we were dealing with.. but now, we know more and more about covid-19.. it is lethal to elderly people (the average age of deaths with covid in the uk is 82 years - the average age of deaths without covid in the uk is 81 years).. it is also lethal to obese people and people with diabetes.. i'd imagine hiv+ people are another vulnerable group.. but to everyone else, catching covid is fairly similar to catching the flu.

"Bible Numbers" are really suspect, and should be viewed with deep suspicion. Notice the times the number 70 comes up ? Literary device, the writers loved that number, it bears no relation to historical fact.
Multiples of 7 or 70 are used, 490 years for example, again, a literary device
Of course the symbolic numbers have no meaning in reality, and the numbers for Israelites and others given in various situations are made up too, as is the whole History of the Jews in the Bible, with the exception of a bit of accuracy in the Book of Kings, but only some of it.

Johnson in this time of Covid has NEVER followed the Science. Whitty and Valence the two "experts" he puts on a podium from time to time only repeated what they were told to say, they did not present the known Science, even advocating Herd Immunity at one point.
The Science that WAS known from the early 20th Century experience was that in Plague conditions, what LUHE says in the quote above worked, without a vaccine. When such measures were not put in place, or were relaxed, the disease rampaged again.
This was pointed out by a good number of people on Social Media, very early, before our fist lock down. The scandal of throwing Tax payers money at people and companies not equipped to deliver is what has got us to where we are today.
This Government ,under Johnson, has so far done nothing right.
Our Economy is about to take another huge hit because of Brexit. Next year does not look good, even when the vaccines have been administered.

Collapse of JW Org - Possibly on the Horizon?

what i find interesting is even some of my pimi family is embracing the reality that all is not well with jw.org and that many current jws are just going through the motions due to not having a good way out of the org.
wondering what could realistically lead to the collapse of jw.org in the not distant future?

For Centuries what kept our Jewish friends going was Prayer , and the idea expressed within their prayers, and actually expressed, after meals if I remember correctly, " Next year, in Jerusalem".
I guess a similar long term view will keep the old stalwart JW's going for a while. But the younger ones who have never really bought in to all of the nonsense will continue to drift away, I think too that there will be a general idea across the World that we should not go back entirely to what we used to call "normal", and some kind of reset may have to occur within the JW Org to go along with the Zeitgeist.
It is obvious that a 19th Century Apocalyptic Religion is well passed its sell by date, so they are going to have to use new Marketing of some sort, or die quickly as an Org. They have tried the re-branding, the On-line Web based stuff, the Carts etc and they did not improve the gaining of Converts, so something else will have to be tried. Crying Wolf for 150 years is looking increasingly very silly.
There is speculation that they may try a reset of Date to 2034, to keep the fear of "The End" going, that will only buy them a little over a decade, so will be the final time for such a move. I would think their advisors would warn them off from such a short sighted move.

Surely if they allow a child to make such decisions the child could be a against Vaccines, or any other medical treatments, and refuse them, whether the Parents wanted that child to have them or not, it would be crazy for the Courts and Governments to change the Law.
There would be a huge Body Count if they did.

Many Jw’s Love to Speculate About the New System

i’ve heard so much speculation from many jw’s on what will and won’t be allowed in the new system.

I know they will have a smart arse answer for this, but how in reality would a few million ignorant JW's manage to run things in this New System?
"Jehoober will direct us", is the stock answer, but he hasn't been very good at directing them even in the matter of Doctrine so far, so how will that work ? We have lost all the skills needed in an Agrarian Society generally, and the many other skills needed to survive.
Jehoober is going to have to perform some mighty Miracles, something that there is no actual proof he has ever managed in the Past.

The one thing that keeps the majority of JW's in is FEAR. Fear of a number of things, sometimes all of the things we could list, sometimes just one or two.
The fear that keeps PIMO folks in is the fear of losing Family. Remove that fear, or diminish it greatly, and PIMO's would leave in droves.
If a Court Action were successful in a major Court that the JW Org shunning was illegal, and they could be sued for damages, they would have a sudden shaft of New Light and change the Policy. I know they have foreseen this, and structured things in such a way that they think the Org itself is immune from Legal action, but if they are wrong, and it happens, I think the dwindling of the Org from their Reported 8 Mill plus would happen very fast, until they were down in the hundreds of thousands only.
