Apostasy my ass!
by Glander inlet's call it what it is - disagreeing with the watchtower bible and tract society after baptism into the cult.
in no way is the literal definition of the word "apostasy" applicable to what the cult is using the word for.
it is a buzz word that scares the crap out of the rank and file and keeps them from communicating with those who have become enlightened about the cults lies.. we here on jwn have accepted the wt label, "apostates", with a sense of humor, such as calling our get togethers apostafests, etc.. but we are actually the "enlightened"..

UK convention dramas recorded by American actors - the GB's yearly gaffe
by cedars ini'm just curious as to whether any of my fellow brits ever pondered how the society can be so stupid as to insist using the us drama tapes at uk conventions rather than having them re-recorded in a british accent?.
as all of us brits know, the convention drama is a subject of subdued derision among uk publishers - and i've been to many a party or social gathering where, at some point, somebody whose had a little too much coke re-enacts a scene from a drama mockingly (typically by gesturing wildly into the air and saying "jer-ho-vah gaaard!!
" in an over-the-top american accent).. what the society clearly doesn't understand is that the dramas really lose their emotional impact with british audiences when performed in an american accent by amateurs.

Haha! Cedars, that was brilliant! LOL Can you imagine it all done in a combination of Liverpudlian, Geordie, Yorkshire, Cockney and West Country? I think I would be totally cracked up!!
I know what you mean, having a whole drama in American English is just awful!! (No offense to you Americans!)
How about something like this.. a real English speaking Abraham, Melchizedek and Sarah...

desensitization from the Jehovah's witnesses
by Star tiger in.
this may be a different way of exit from the jehovah's mentality, for me it should work, first i want to try all the things that were verbotent to them, slowly at first a piece of black pudding, then donating blood, you see the progression.. then a little more flagrant in the laws, buying a pack of tarot cards, reading them and so on.. does anyone think that's a reasonable way of beginning to destroy the subconcious methods of programming, also i am very ocd so any way of destroying the jehovahs witnesses mindset is fraught with potential new ways of worrying me!.

I think this kind of reaction is quite common. It's like kids who have had such strict upbringing that once they are free of it they just break out completely and go haywire. Sometimes not always to their advantage. It's good to break free but not go so crazy you do yourself harm.

The Tower of Babel - Languages: Isn't this story unhinged?
by james_woods inbesides the obvious fact that it is historically ridiculous - can anybody make any sense out of this story?.
god was somehow afraid that man was developing too much technology?
just because they were building a tower?.

Universal Sovereignty Doctrine, re-examined.
by Knowsnothing inhey all.
what do you guys think about the issue of universal sovereignty?
that was one of the doctrines i thought i would never doubt in, but looking into it more, there are a lot of holes in it.

I find the WTS idea of a 'Universal Sovereignty' to be another one of those 'let's tie everyone up in knots with our intelligence and wordiness'. To me it's all about faith and love. Adam and Eve lost theirs. Abraham on the other hand was a beautiful example of both faith and love. There's a simplicity in this. After all God is love. Satan put doubts in man's heart. If mankind wants to reject God, hate him or simply disbelieve that he exists and do their own thing, they live by that choice. He rejoices in those that love him and want to worship him with love in their hearts. I don't believe it has anything to do with any 'legal' stuff, rightness or wrongness. It's choice.
