Welcome Eden. I'm still associated with JWs because of family still in. I had a quick look at your website and it looks interesting. :)

Greetings from a new member
by EdenOne ingreetings everyone.. just wanted to say hello to everyone, being a new member from western europe.. some may know me from another forum (eden, from e-jehovas-witnesses.com), but most don't, so this is my little intro.. male, in my early 40's.
still an active member in good standing of a jehovah's witnesses congregation in my country, and honestly not planning to change that status, despite my unorthodox beliefs.
sometime i will elaborate the reason why i don't feel i must leave.

She needs to feel good about herself. She must be feeling that you're leaving her behind. She has young children that take all her energy leaving her no time for herself.
Why don't you give up the gym? Try instead doing body weight training at home. Buy some equipment that you can both use. A rowng machine is brilliant for working the whole body, she can see what calories she's using up. Cook some healthy meals together. If you have the money treat her to a makeover. She needs to start feeling good, that will boost her spirits. A woman won't feel beautiful no matter how much you tell her that she is unless she feels good about herself and that comes from doing something positve that produces results. It would also help if you ignored these other women who are coming on to you. All this does is make her feel worthless.

Has the GB ever explained how they receive "new light" from Jehovah?
by cobaltcupcake ini remember a long time ago the explanation was that various anointed ones would write to the gb with the same new understanding of a teaching, the gb would investigate it, and if it was acceptable, they'd pass it on to the r&f.
of course, now we have the new light that new light occurs only to the gb, not the anointed at large.
so, if any anointed ones get new ideas, they're just apostates, right?.

Somebody comes up with an idea, they talk about it, say a prayer then vote. If they get a two-third majority it gets passed. If somebody gets up to go to the little boys' room and misses out on the voting they may not get the two thirds majority so they put it on hold and blow the dust off the idea a few years later....

Question for '607' apologists
by Jeffro injehoiakim refused to pay tribute to nebuchadnezzar after 3 years (2 kings 24:1) because nebuchadnezzar attacked egypt in the previous december.
this is attested by both bm21946 (rows 5 to 7, reverse side) and josephus (antiquities of the jews, book x, chapter 6).. in what year was this attack on egypt?.

One things I've wondered is, how far back does the WT go till it's dates coincide with secular history? If the date of Jerusalem's destruction is 20 years out and Jehoiakim is 20 years out, then Josiah must have been 20 years out and so on... at some point they must have chucked the 20 year discrepancy or did it go right back to the Exodus from Egypt and beyond?

What evidence is there for Jesus (NOT USING THE BIBLE)?
by punkofnice ini have often wondered if there is any actual archealogical evidence that jesus existed other than the claims of the bible.. i don't want to go down the route of 'you can't prove he didn't exist' as this is tiresome.
or 'well pontius pilate existed we found a stone with his name on so it follows jesus existed!
' that won't cut it.

mp.. now you're talking like you believe he existed ...
As for carrying weapons, they spent a lot of time in wild places complete with wild animals. Jesus told Peter his sword wasn't to be used against another human.

I almost wished i took the blue pill....
by 20yearfader insince joining this site and having my eyes opened,i find i'm now dealing with a lot of emotions that were suppressed.one being the passing of loved ones,in the org we were discouraged from showing proper emotions due to the fact that if you did you were considered weak since they the dearly departed were only sleeping.now im being bombarded with dreams of my loved ones that i,due to my brainwashing never had the emotional release that i should have had.i'm just wondering how others on this site are coping, and dealing with the fact that everything we was taught was false almost as a way to keep up under control,as we lost years and decades of time.i almost wish i keep my head and the sand and had taken the blue pill.what has helped you all deal with this ...new religion......no religion...etc.

My username gives away how I felt at the beginning. I felt raw emotionally and often had moments of wishing I'd never found out. However, I overwhelmingly feel glad that I did. It means that no longer am I under the control of any man or group of men. My mind is free... free to think, believe and do what I wish and be answerable to no man. No one can dictate to me any more what I must do, think, say or believe, it's my choice with my gift of free will.

How BIG is Big Brother?
by Socrateswannabe inwhen i visit the jw.org website, can the wts it department know that i've also visited this site?
i use a freeware program called ccleaner but i don't use it every time after i've visited here.
i also don't know if my browser (i usually use ie9 or chrome) keeps records of my browsing history, independent of the ones on my pc that ccleaner deletes, that can be accessed by big brother wts.

If you're really worried about things stored on your pc from your browsing history etc you can install a privacy eraser that clears everything in just a few clicks of the mouse. Saves having to go through all of it manually and clears even hidden stuff. As was said before it can be a family member who comes across the fact you've been here, especially if you share a pc.

Blondie:- Great comments everyone; and strength to those who still attend.
And thanks to you for all your hard work on these Blondie. For those of us still in it means a lot because it helps to 'deprogramme' anything that may have slipped past us and helps us to stay alert to any of the propaganda methods used.
