Quendi, I'm much the same as you, I want to continue asking questions and discovering new things. That's what freeing your mind from WTS control does doesn't it? I no longer feel I have to believe what I'm told to believe.. it's liberating! (Even if a little daunting!)

Does anybody still believe in God and the Bible?
by tornapart ini just want to know out of interest how many here still believe in god and christ and that the bible is god's word.
my faith in the wts is gone but i still love god and his son.
i've noticed that many here have lost their faith in god as well as the wts.

2/15 WT " Preserve the Positive Spirit of Congregations" - Translation :Submit
by flipper inonce again, this was a real " jewel " of a study article by the wt society full of contradictions , controlling expressions , and manipulative wording in order to take away jehovah's witnesses free will and freedom of mind .. initially the wt society makes it appear that they are " concerned " about witnesses actually keeping the " peace " between themselves.
notice this quote from pg.
20, paragraph 7, " true friends keep personal matters confidential.

Even when I was well 'in' I had problems with this. I had a close friend many years ago who did things she could have been disfellowshipped for that she told me in confidence. I never broke that confidence and never would if it happened again. She did get disfellowshipped a lot later but by this stage she wanted out anyway. I hate the way the WTS wants us to rat on our friends. Is it because they want them to get help? No, they just want to judge them and then kick them out and tell all their family and friends never to have anything to do with them again. It's all wrong!

Is there one Bible Prophecy.....
by Phizzy inin the form of a prediction, that can be proven to truly be a prediction,i.e written before the event, and it came true ?.
it would be good not to have time wasters on this thread in the form of the common ones that are brought up to demonstrate the bible's prophetic prowess, like cyrus being named , these have been debunked already.. but does there seem to be a genuine prophecy in there somewhere ?.

Bible prophecy takes faith to believe in. It's easy for it to be pulled apart by 'experts' and claimed to be untrue. A non-believer wants it to be proved beyond all doubt and claims anyone believing in it is delusional. If this is the case then there are billions of people in this category.

Thankyou everyone for your answers. I certainly got more than I expected! It's very interesting reading everyone's own personal feelings. I'm sorry if I offended anyone with the way I put my question, I didn't mean to be offensive in anyway. As for my own personal views they are much like yours Fernando.
I still believe in God because of the awesomeness of the universe and the diversity of life on earth and its perfect balance. I just can't believe it came by chance. I still believe in the bible because of the way it has stood the test of time and that despite its many different writers over centuries it maintains a certain harmony. Of course it takes faith. Faith to me is believing something that 1) Can't be seen and 2) Can't be proven. But there are many other things in life that take faith and not just these things.
What I love and have always loved is being able to be free to believe in my own way and to respect the views, beliefs and opinions of everyone else too. What I absolutely hate is the way religion takes control of a persons thoughts, actions and personal life.. telling us what we must believe and what we should do, To me having a free will and a free choice is a gift. Religion takes that gift away from us.

Yes...You may ask but why do you need to know? I simply wish to find others on here that feels as I do, so far there are only a few. I could ask you why you don't and I'm sure you have your reasons. It doesn't make me better than you and it doesn't make you better than me. For someone to to tell a non-believer why they believe in God will not change the non-believer and visa versa, so I don't want to even attempt it. I feel everyone is entitled to their own personal views and I don't want to inflict mine on anyone else. I just want to find others of like mind, who have become disillusioned by the WTS but still love God... it's a very lonely place to be.

Brother Hero and Brother Sidekick, should I ask Brother Sidekick about the 1919 selection?
by garyneal ini went to the nearby 7-eleven on my lunch break to get a fountain drink and i happened to bump into some people from my wifes congregation including brother hero and brother sidekick.
brother hero was the guy who conducted a bible study with me using the bible teach book (my god, i have been around the witnesses and former witnesses too much as i even know the cult speak and book name abbreviations).
during our study he began bringing over another brother from the congregation who i began referring to as brother sidekick.. i found out from my wife that brother sidekick is the son-in-law of one of the elders in that congregation.

Gary, one of the things that JWs don't do is research their own history. If they did it would shock them. Unfortunately WT history is rare to find. One of the things that has done it for me is finding out about Beth Sarim.. the 10 bedroom mansion plus cars that were being provided for 'princes' of the OT such as Abraham, David. Gideon, Samson and others. Of course while they were waiting for their return the President at the time (Rutherford) was spending his 'winter months' there looking after it for them. Get him to research it.. he will have to go on the internet to find it as there are very few references in WT sources. The best place he can go that he would probably be ok with is Wikipedia. There are countless sources and references on it there. I'll be surprised if he doesn't end up thinking what a nutcase Rutherford was.. and he was the guy who gave the bible students the name 'Jehovah's Witnesses'.

When I read Ray Franz's books what impressed me was he still had a deep love for God and Christ. He didn't want to go to any other religious organisation and chose to stay close to what he believed was true. He was a true genuine christian and he showed genuine love and compassion for others. At the same time he showed the hipocrisy within the WTS. He was a wonderful example.

I ask this because I still do. My faith in the WTS is gone but I still love God and his Son. I've noticed that many here have lost their faith in God as well as the WTS. I'm a firm believer in free choice and free thinking but would like to know how many others here believe as I do.
