Well.. I've been here for a few weeks but still feel like a relative newbie. Not even sure what to say or if I should be saying it. I just wanted to introduce myself as much as I'm able to. I'm still 'in' so to speak although mentally 'out'. I'm a born-in in my 50's and an elders wife with all my family active JWs, so it's a hard place to be. I'd always had some doubts over the years, but the 'generation lap' really did it for me. Nothing has felt quite the same since but I could never put my finger on it. Of course I still believed the organisation was being directed by Jehovah, I went along with it but inside I was troubled. Then one day I came across Crises of Conscience by Ray Franz. I read it in three days. It overturned everything I had believed in, but strangely it didn't surprise me. After that I read in Search of Christian Freedom, that took a little longer as I wanted to take in everything. Then I read Captives of a Concept by Don Cameron. After that I was reading every 'apostate' website I could find. I know there is no going back but I still have to attend meetings and do a little FS just to keep up appearances. Fortunately the congregation I am in is a very easy going one so I don't feel under any pressure but it is still hard to listen to talks where GB worship goes on. I still love God and Christ and the Bible (I know many of you don't anymore). But I'm very much a 'live and let live' person, always have been really, that's my 'real' self. I think that's why I always have had a problem being a JW because the 'control' was always too much. My beliefs are mine and mine alone, I don't want anyone else to come between me and what I believe in and I won't do the same to anyone else. To me it's all about Freedom. Even if I feel somewhat trapped, at least my mind is free and that feels good.

I always come here for help first... a group called bible students
by Butterflyleia85 inhello friends,.
it's been a long time... i'm on my husbands computer because my laptop broke down and i been procrastinating to fix it.. i was starting a thing where i was posting catching the manipulation in sundays watchtower article and getting feedback on where i could find the manipulation.
but havent been able to do it because my phone just cant handle all the data, my laptop has black screen, and this is my husbands computer (getting on here is less convenient then my laptop thats mobile and will i can get things done at the same time).. even though i havent been sharing my comments every once in a while i kept coming back here to observe.

Pioneering in France set at 30 hours??
by Dogpatch ini just received an email from a woman in france that said,.
"dear randy, i live in a small town in england and i have found out that the local witnesses have been encouraged to up the amount of pioneering work this month by reason of the fact that dispensation has been given to only do 30 hours of pioneering instead of the usual 50 if that means that more individuals can part .
of course this is the result and also many are trying to do the 50 hours to gain points.

Yes, last year the Service Overseer came round handing out pioneering slips for everyone to fill in. I told him, No Thanks.. if I'd wanted one I'd have come to him. Of course this year they're doing it again.. everyone will be expected to give it go. It actually feels quite good to turn down the 'privilege' of pioneering and see the look of surprise on his face... me being a fairly healthy with plenty of time on my hands elder's wife... if only he knew!!
Wonder if this is just a stepping stone to bringing in 30 hours every month??

Clear distinction of people on JWN
by cptkirk inthis has been an interesting science project to say the least.
here is what i have learned:.
you have about 6 types of people posting on jwn, they all fit into a profile.. #1 you have people like me that ran the race, exemplified conduct while in the jw cult and learned through observation that there was a severe disconnect between truth, and the jw cult's statements.

Hi Butterfly, yes I've come across them. They are the group that splintered away from the early Bible Students of Russell's day and carried on much in the way he used to. Some ex JWs go to them for spiritual association although the groups are much smaller. Bible discussion and freedom of thought is encouraged and not looked down on in anyway. Some stick closely to Russell's doctrines and others don't so much. But they all have core beliefs similar to JWs but without the organisation or the control.
If you want to go to a good website for ex/fading/doubting JWs there's one called jwstruggle.com. A few Bible Students go on there too and there's a lot of free thinking!

My dad was in a position like this once. Depression is very real and attempted suicide a cry for help. He didn't really want to die but felt no one cared. He was found in time. It didn't stop the depression but he got the help he needed. I hope you do too. Please do whatever the doctors and other professionals suggest for you. You are important to the people that love you.
