Lots of other religions don't go to war (including many Conscientious Objectors within many others). JWs have only had real success with preaching work in countries where Christianity already was, in non christian countries they've had little success (maybe Japan as an exception).
Read Luke 21:8.... Many translations say 'The Time is at Hand'... the WTS printed a book called 'The Time is at Hand'... and what are they ALWAYS saying? Every assembly I've ever been to.. doesn't that make you think?

Christians who were really hated and persecuted were ripped apart by lions, used as human torches to light the appian way or sawn usunder and many other ways. Many Christians have suffered similar over the centuries.

Looks to me like they are realising there are some very unhappy JWs out there who are regretting the sacrifices they made (believing they were making those sacrifices for God).

I think it's more like JWs hate everyone else. If you're not a JW you're a worldy person and can't be loved until you become one.
The doctrine of 1914 is seriously wrong but instead of swallowing their pride and admitting it they try to cover it up with an 'overlapping generation'. There are many other cases like this. If you're a JW you have to accept everything you're taught, no questions asked.
The bible tells us that Christians go to heaven. JWs say only 144,000 do. Is that reasonable? There must have been more than 144,000 in the first century alone. Revelation is a symbolic book. That isn't to say the earth isn't there for humans and God doesn't have a purpose for it. The Bible says he does. It's not only JWs that don't believe in the immortal soul, many other Christians don't believe it either.
The JWs thumb their NWT... get them to look at all the other translations and compare them.
What is it about religious organisations? It's all about control.. it doesn't matter which one you belong to.

Take care my dear. Try not to take some of those comments too much to heart, remember that you don't know them and they don't know you. You can only get a hint of what someone is really like through this medium and words are easily said and impossible to take back and words can hurt. I'm sorry if any of mine hurt you, it was completely unintentional. Remember too that you had some excellent advice given you and I really hope you take all of it on board, especially that of finding someone professional that can help you through all your issues. I wish you all the very best. :)
