  in our last ca it was said from the platform that the gb has said we shouldn't buy food that is only produced at certain times of the year.

  although not specified i imagine they meant turkeys, christmas puddings, easter eggs, hot cross buns etc.

  Somebody mentioned in their answer about calling on people on a Sunday evening, when they haven't been to work and are unwinding before starting work the next day...

  I would be very angry if someone knocked on my door on a Sunday evening... unless of course they spotted flames coming out of my roof....

  Why Did Romania's Jehovah's Witnesses Disfellowship The Governing Body For Apostasy?

  there is a large group of jehovah's witnesses that broke away from the watchtower society in the 1990s.

  can someone explain to all the interested jwn lurkers and faders, why these romanian and other eastern european witnesses disfellowshiped the governing body in new york?.

  i received a email from a member claiming to be part of this group, i was told they "disfellowshiped the governing body" for disobedience to jehovah god and not following the fine examples of brother russell, rutherford and knorr.

  I read about this recently (but forget the link). Apparently it said that Romania was cut off from the organisation for a very long time as they were under ban and only had very old WTs that were hidden. Once the ban was lifted they discovered so many things had changed from the things they learned from their old WTs that they thought the GB had gone apostate.

  i know jehovah's witnesses can have firearms for defense, but does the church ever attempt to set guidelines on the use of deadly force?

  also, are there jurisdictions in the church where handgun ownership is frowned upon?.

  Can't believe what a gun culture the US is.. you make it sound scary!! LOL We have to have a licence to have a gun here and you have to have a real good reason to have one. (ie. gun club, gamekeeper, armed police etc). Also they have to be safely locked away when not in use. If you break these laws you'll be sent to jail.

  Lots of JWs out at tables this morning!

  so, i actually stopped at two different tables that i saw.

  the first was 2 elderly men - they were so sweet and open to discuss.

  i brought up the topic of the divine name and why the wt inserted it into the nt with no evidence from greek manuscripts.

  I don't think our cong. is going to go along with it that much. One reg. pio. sister who is a bit of a rebel on the quiet and myself, a rebel elderette have already said we think it's going too far and saying exactly what we think of it. It's surprising how much it starts the R&F thinking when you actually come out and say how stupid you think something is.. most of them also think it's stupid and intend to be disobedient when no one's looking.. LOL The few that you say to about Paul and the sacrificed meat to idols, squirm and look uncomfortable because they know it's the GB against the apostle Paul.

  The result has been lots of JWs in an uproar. Some saying 'WT...???' and some saying 'well, I've always bought christmas puddings in the past but if the GB say so then I must obey'.... others saying 'well, I don't care what the GB say I'm going to carry on anyway, if Paul could eat food sacrificed to idols I can eat christmas pudding'...

  I really think this triviality from the GB has got more reaction than the demo about the overlapping generation. Has anybody else heard anything like this?

  There's a comedy here in the UK called Little Britain. There is a comedy sketch of a full grown man still breast feeding from his mum.. he calls it 'bitty'... it is totally outrageous but grotesquely funny.
