i've only been a member here for a short time, but it seems like there are more christians on the board lately.
for the first few months that i was on jwn, it appeared that there were very few that argued in favor of a creator and belief in the bible in particular.
there seems to be several more that have recently joined...or at least posted more regularly regarding belief.
I've noticed it too CA.. particularly since you joined the board as you are very good at debating clearly and logically (even if not everyone agrees with you).
I like it that there are differing belief systems.. at least it never gets stale or boring! I must admit though that I do like it that there seem to be a few more christians around not afraid to share their thoughts!
Just so long as everyone can play nicely... LOL
i know certain apologists might rub us the wrong way, but let's not treat them like their pieces of sh*t.. and i know certain posters might rub us the wrong way, but let's not be so quick to beat everybody down that's not of our same reasoning.. just saying..

I quite agree with never a jw.. there are no dates in the bible at all that can be fixed on. It is all pure conjecture. The only way any dates can be assumed is based on secular evidence, whether it's for 587BCE or 539BCE or any other date. Anyone reading the bible and the events in there have to make IT fit with secular evidence and not the other way around.
Where in the bible does it give an exact date for the fall of Jerusalem? It doesn't. Where in the bible does it gve an exact date for the fall of Babylon? It doesn't.

Yes, I'm with Minimus on this too. BB, you make some good points.
Some apologists can be frustrating sometimes but we are more likely to get our point across if we remain calm, focused on the points and not rising to ad hominem attacks and retaliating in kind.

I really can't see how JWs can call themselves christians as they only ever give Christ lip service. It's the biggest thing for me. They say as 'true christians' we shouldn't pray to him, shouldn't worship him or give him glory... by saying that, they are going directly contrary to the very source of christianity!

i had been studying with the jehovah's witnesses for the last couple years.
they have been interesting study sessions and have learned quite a bit about them and their beliefs.
much of what they teach is what i had learned through personal bible study.. growing up was normal.
Welcome change name. If you truly are interested in making sure of things before you progress then could I suggest to you that you read the book 'Captives of a Concept' by Don Cameron. Try and read it with an open mind and without blinkers. Unlike the way you did with jwfacts website. It's no good reading the 'other side' of the issue with the thought 'this is deliberately leading me', because this is what everyone does who is trying to get their reader to think along their lines of thought. The WT does it all the time. If you read it and still think that JWs are the best thing since sliced bread then fair enough, at least you'll have all the info on it all.

Thanks Loz. xx Yes it is hard and it helps to know there are others on here that are in the same boat. Being able to share tips and thoughts with them really helps.
Another thing I've found is that you have to use 'Jw speak'... it's no good using terms picked up on JWN, it won't work. Even if talking JW language grates, it makes them think you're on 'their side' and you can get further in making them think about things.
