I would take the latter choice. Finding out those answers were all I ever wanted in life even if I can't do anything with it.

I Offer You This Choice
by simon17 insuppose the following choice were offered you, and you had to choose one or the other.
which would you pick (and perhaps why):.
1) you can continue living your life as it is, die when you might, and that's that.. 2) you can instead agree to die in 1 year in exchange for this: you will be granted access to the entire past and future history of intelligent life in the universe.

Nah, people who ruin their child's life by not providing for their own emotional needs just because they wanna go to paradise that doesn't exist are the selfish ones.

I've been to a couple Amway meetings since I had family and friends doing it. The Amway meetings are set up exactly how JW meetings go. Everything is kinda secretive but with a recruiting front. The seats were set up exactly the same with a bunch of suits around. They love bomb you just the same. In the amway meeting they talked about marrying somebody from within the organization because you're gonna need all the good association (they literally used this term). Then I'm shown around like some trophy. I felt like I was in the kingdom hall day 1, all over again. They have their own language and behavior that I found was exactly like the JW mindset. I wouldn't recommend it.

What was YOUR First Worldly Experience?
by Yondaime inwhile i was in florida during the spring visiting my oldest sister.
i had the time of my life with my brother in law.. you see my sister married a non-believer and my parents viewed him as the scum of the earth, so i was terrified to ever talk to him.
turns out he's one of the coolest people i have ever met.

I don't really have a first wordly experience, to be exact. I was raised catholic until I obsessively started studying with the Jdubs when I was 17. I got baptized at 18. But I always had my "wordly friends" around. They were kinda my savior. Because when I find out about TTATT, I at least at them. And I always talked about them in the kingdom hall and no one really told me to to stop associating with them. Whenever I was shown the scripture about association, I always said, thank god I have good friends. No one really pressured me to let them go. Which was nice because because when I left, the first thing I did was get high with them.

I think this is closure for me.
by quellycatface inwell, i have finally got rid of my baptism cards.
the congratulations cards....the wt ones, the ones with sheep on etc.... all gone.
they dated back to 23/09/2000.. has anyone else "purged" their witness past this way?.

I still keep my blood card on me (unsigned of course) just to show people how crazy this religion is.

Another Story about JWs Placing JW.org Tracks
by ABibleStudent inwhile i was writing my 1-page bio to send to managers today, a 30-ish, nicely-dressed jw man and woman knocked on my door.
they wanted to give me a track to visit jw.org.
i don't believe that jw.org is truthful.

It's funny how they want no part of the government until it's their "constitutional right" to be there.

Surreal experience last night.
by objectivetruth inrecently a jw friend that my wife & i knew 3 years ago added me on facebook, after i accepted the request she invited me to a dinner that her and her husband are holding next month.. i imagined that she was unaware of our apostasy, so i declined the invitation on the basis of not wanting to ruin her dinner after the rest of her guests fled at our presence.. i'm never sure how old friends will react when i tell them that i'm no longer a jw.. usually their response is "..... permanent-silence......".
her response went something like this, " we are all out!
everyone that is coming is out we all look forward to seeing you guys so much" it turns out that there will be 6 people at the dinner all friends of ours from a congregation that we attended a few years back.. they have all left the organization recently.. pretty crazy experience..

Weird crazy rules imposed by your local Elders.
by stuckinarut2 inwe all know the sort of thing..... in many congregations, specific "rules" creep in...introduced by the local elders that become set in stone.. years ago, i heard of a congregation that sat down during the first song of the evening but stood for all others (the co changed that very soon after).
then there were the older accounts of congs that had rules to make the public speakers wear only white shirts.... in one cong now, i heard that brothers can only be used for sound or microphones if they do a minimum of 5 hours per month in the ministry!.
another cong has ruled that all appointed men must pioneer for at least one month each year in order to remain qualified.. .

Name Some Things That JWs Look Down Upon That Normal People Wouldn't Even Think About?
by minimus injws look down on others for saying, "bless you" if someone sneezes.
it has something to do with the demons.
another example is that it is considered satanic if a man took his hat off for a lady!

When I tried fading the first time, I was getting texts from the elder saying how they didn't like my beard.
