yes, but if you are successful that is only because Satan is distracting you from the Truth with all your success. Typical JW fashion - EVERYTHING is double standard and applies both ways.
If you are in the truth and happy - its cause of Jehovah, if you are in the truth and sad it's because of Satan's pressures.
BUT - if you are out of Truth and happy its satan, and if you are out of the truth and sad, its because you've left Jehovah and need him to be happy.
THAT my friends is 100% fact. It is precisely how JW's rationalize this...

so true about finding happiness within you. I remember once I was mentally out, standing on my porch looking up at the stars and coming to terms with the fact that there was no external entity or thing out there that owed me happiness or was ever going to imbue happiness into my life.

It was me that was going to have to do it and for the first time in my life I started asking myself all those questions "worldly" people would ask:
-why am I here?
-what is the purpose of life?
-how do I find true happiness?

you know... all those legitimate, soul-searching questions that JW's snicker at because they have all the answers already?

I came to the realization that as a JW I had never been happy in any real way (as you mentioned above). Rather, I had an illusion of happiness.
This illusion of happiness is in actuality the cessation of guilt.

It's amazing how much of a JW's life is completing the weekly routine of meetings, preparing for meetings, personal study, bible reading, service, days texts, etc.

We are inundated with the importance of doing these things reqularly lest we summon Jehovah's displeasure. So for the average JW, when they complete this ROUTINE they feel happy. They honestly beleive it is happiness they are feeling when in reality they have just temporarly eased the burden of guilt constantly heaped on their shoulders week after week by the WTS.

They can't even enjoy recreation to the full because even recreation is made to seem wasteful and selfish - thus even when vacationing, golfing, skiing, or taking day trips - JW's often still have a lingering guilt that needs to be pacified and thus never fully experience the happiness that can come from enjoying these special times.

For the JW - they can't wait for Jehovah to come and fix this miserable world. You know why? BECAUSE THEY'RE MISERABLE - but they THINK they are happy

Not surprising at all how plagued JW's are with depression with this degree of duality and dichotemy exising for so long.

Acknowledging this was a huge leap for me. No one can make me happy or give me "happy" - but me, happiness is an attitude not a thing to have or possess.

Do you miss "dressing up" for the meetings?

i was thinking about this the other day when doing a bit of tidying up of my wardrobe.

all the kh suits are now pushed to the back of the wardrobe and i am seriously thinking about a visit to the charity shop to get rid of most of them.. for me one of the (few) enjoyable aspects of being a jw was getting dressed up.

my secular work very rarely involves putting on a dress suit & tie so i miss getting dressed up - smart suit , tie , shiny shoes , slapping on the aftershave.

I like looking sharp in a suit. Hate the constant changing of clothes from casual to suit and back to casual.

My past and present experience is that most JW's wear ugly suits and ties, if not ugly then old and blah.

half the bro's in my KH still wear double breasted suits! I don't think those have even been sold at stores for over 10 years now.

and often you see unironed, wrinkly puffy collars that should have long ago been tossed in the bin, but they keep wearing them. Those and their worn in "meeting shoes".... you know, the "good black shoes" they own - that are worn right through the finish at the toe and the sould is completely smooth? ya, those shoes.

FYI - there is a plethera of completely free, easily accessible pornography on the web. You can watch endless hours of porn with 2 to 3 clicks of your mouse at any time

there appears to be some geniune JW's on the site. If the site would have been open and blunt and called itself "Anti-JW Site", I would have avoided it.

I am an inactive JW but my wife and entire family and all my freinds are JW's. I live as a JW - everyone knows me as a JW. This site is a far greater source of spiritual enlightenment for me than the WTS has ever been or could ever be.

Stick around David, the feeling of your eyes opening is amazing. So many things that you have supressed your entire life all of sudden make sense.

I understand why some people might be convinced by what scientists think they are seeing, especially since the Bible notes that Satan would create such destructive propaganda that it might even fool the elect.

in other words: the devil did it. Ya that's a another great argument. This is double think at its finest. This is a very typical response from protagonists with no proof or evidence of anything they are spouting, so much so that even they themselves can't explain what they believe, let alone explain it to others.
Anyone that has actually wasted 60 minutes of their life to read one of Larsinger58's 3 page long biblical calculations posts, only to see it fail 2 weeks later, then see him change it again even adding a backup date in advance of the other date failing (again), only to see both of those fail also, knows this guy is completely disconnected from reality

The direct appearance of God nullifies any potential claims that evolution disproves the Bible or God for the elect, even though it might seem so. Thus the elect, knowing God exists, must conclude that there is some reasonable explanation for the false-positive results science are coming up with.

You already answered this one.... the devil did it. Remember? Ya that's it, the devil did it. Rock solid
