Have you met anyone on the Governing Body?
by Christ Alone ini posted on another thread about a couple of my experiences of meeting the governing body while i was in brooklyn.
i wanted to see if anyone else had any experiences along these same lines.

i met Carey Barber, Albert Schroeder and Dan Sydlik
all dead now.
nothing special, just shook their hands. As Albert patted me on the shoulder he said "we need our young men". Oh if only he knew me now! :)

Watchtower Dishonesty
by Vanderhoven7 injust re-discovered this gem:.
"it is a matter of fact that the history of the watchtower society is riddled with failed date-setting and abandoned doctrine,1 and the society has gone to great lengths to hide this past from its members.
older (incriminating) watchtower publications are virtually impossible to obtain through the society,2 while at the same time members are overwhelmed with "current" watchtower material.. the watchtower society has even gone as far as to publish disinformation about its own history in an attempt to convince readers that watchtower doctrine has remained consistent over the years, and that the society is not a false prophet.

Welcome!
GET YOUR SON OUT OF THAT HOUSE
Please, get him out. The guilt they are going to impose on him could take YEARS to fix
FYI - we all looked at the "spot" when we were kids. You aren't wierd or anything, you were just a normal healthy child being conditioned to think what is normal and healthy was wrong.
Thanks for sharing

They STILL might be DFing me soon for apostasy...
by RayPublisher inbig news - i met with the elders last night.
they were not arrogant and they were not mean spirited, but of course we all know they also would not budge from the jw brainwashed beliefs they are sworn to uphold.
i let my light shine, and within two minutes of sitting down with them was no longer nervous.. .

no doubt about it.... your gonna be DF'd.
The only reason I can imagine they didn't DF you on the spot is your JC has probably never had a person like you and they have no idea what to think or say.
They will review this with bethel and you're outta there. However, they may want to pick your brains a bit further to see if you have infected anyone else

Jehovah's Witnesses cease to exist before the year 2000
by rory-ks inseptember 1st, 2012, can be marked down in the theocratic calendar as the day the watchtower bible and tract society marched shamelessly into the 21st century.
on that day, jw.org, official website of jehovah's witnesses, went live, and with one strike the organisation put a match to its past.. .
seek out the society's online library, its searchable database of publications, and you will soon see that it has only made available literature published since the year 2000. inclusion of the generic work, insight on the scriptures, is of no consequence.

I've noticed that the Daniel and Revelation books are missing...of course, they are published before 2000.
AND they are both out of date with "old light", or er... "former truth", or uhm.... "prior understanding" yeah that's it, prior understanding

Rumor Elders Will Receive Name Badges For Every Meeting.
by HelpMeBelieve ini keep hearing rumors elders are going to be getting permanent badge cards to wear to every meeting.
one excited brother told me, "it would be nice if new ones to the kingdom hall could see who their shepherds are.
there is a great surge in activity, new bible students will be able to locate the proper elder in charge of bible studies!

Where the hell does Jesus say the lives of these certain ones would overlap one another ?
I'm I missing something here ?
What I read out of Jesus's words that once the signs of the end times began the generation that witnessed those apparent signs would not
pass away. Anointed or not anointed ! Where they pulled this overlapping generation(s) is made up wholly by themselves.
it seems to me that this "overlapping generation" is less of a lame WTS exegesis as it just a building on top of other generation teachings.
To JW's this would be easily absorbed because they already accept that the generation is 'anointed' so no problems there, and they already accept that the signs began in 1914 so no problem there either. And how many times have we heard the word "contemporanious" used with the generation? This goes all the way back to Russel and right up to the 'contemporanious wicked' generation.
so the generation is not "generations" but rather one "contemporanious generation".
"This all sounds so familiar, this really isn't all that different is it?" To the longtime JW this is not all that much of stretch, but of course to us and anyone with an objective viewpoint we are dumbfounded that anyone could possibly believe such insane rhetoric.
I have always wondered why the reasoning book never update the generation from that of 1914. Well, (as I have said before) I suppose now they don't really need to. The generation today IS STILL the generation of 1914. That is exactly the same. The change is the definition what a generation is.
For all intents and purposes, the reasoning book is now correct again. They need only ad a footnote clarifying that 'generation' is a 'contemporanious generation' and it is this "contemporanious generation" that saw 1914 that will by no means pass away, 'just like we always said.'
