OK so the GB are shaming Bros who don't "reach out" but would they ever consider this?...
by purrpurr ini note on here the feedback from the currently ongoing conventions that the gb are heavily trying to guilt and shame any brothers who are not ms or elders.
i agree with most posters who reckon this shows just how thin on the ground they are for ms and elders but... my question is.
how comes that even though they are so desperate they still will not allow women to fill those roles?

Sisters were holding the doors open and greeting dubs in the mornings on the way into the convention -

Our KH library is half the size it was a year ago
used to have binders of KMs and WTs back to the 20's, gone now
now some old books still but much of the really old stuff has been culled

Guns. Well said Mr President, if only your countrymen had the same courage to consider changing course.
by nicolaou inive had to make statements like this too many times.
communities like this have had to endure tragedies like this too many times.
once again, communities [were harmed] because someone who wanted to inflict harm had no problem getting their hands on a gun.. lets be clear: at some point, we as a country will have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries.

I am a gun owner and I hunt.
And even I know there are way too many guns and way too much ammo too easily available in the USA
I have no fear in my home country that any person around me is carrying a concealed hand gun

Very Offensive Statement Directed To JW Parents-Watchtower 4/15/2015 Page 11 Paragraph 9
by JW GoneBad inwt is insinuating, worse yet, blaming senior jw parents for there not being more younger brothers reaching out to be ministerial servants and elders.
page 11 paragraph 9 reads as follows: .
"elders in affluent lands may face an added challenge: how to motivate baptized brothers in their 20s or 30s to get involved in congregation activities.

Being "still in" I can tell you most fathers want their kids to go to college or get a trade right out of school.
I hear the hushed conversations all the time. Many of my friends have college aged kids and the majority are taking post secular ed.
this article is a direct hit on this. The Borg won't come right out and say "don't send your children to college" but this is about direct as it gets
it won't do anything, parents seem to know better

Canada Branch Finances - What's Going On?
by berrygerry inan update on the canada branch hasn't been made (i think).. year-over-year, canada's equity decreased by 11 million in 2012, 17 million in 2013.. however, the 2014 report shows a huge increase (20 million) in the cost of "purchased supplies.
" with the shrinkage of the mags, and the push to online, how the heck did this go from 39 million to 58 million?.
even with this number, the equity in 2014 went down by a staggering 56 million.. what the heck is going on?.

Why did the org "forgive" KH mortgages?
by Magnum ini know this has been discussed, but i think it's good that topics like this get brought back up from time to time for the sake of newbies and lurkers, plus, i have a question (related at end of post).. the org brags about "forgiving" kh mortgages as if it's so loving and giving.
i put the word in quotation marks because most of us realize it wasn't forgiving anything.
the new arrangement should actually bring it far more money.. for example, suppose there are twenty congregations total.

I think all repair and maintenance costs are taken as tax free donations by the WTS but are then "written off" by the WTS as expenses -

Something tells me 1914...
by Monsieur inafter todays watchtower lesson, and the lessons coming, something tells me bigger and bigger new understandings are coming.
and that it will culminate with 1914. notice how jesus is now coming, and no longer already here.
the current understanding is both, he is here and hes also coming.

I definitely sensed this is preparation for more to come
they have "simplified" the truth to drop much of what has bitten them in the ass
the new methodology is very mainstream compared to the century past but I am certain this is laying the ground work for all date setting etc to be "not the point".
The WTS can shift the conversation from dates like 607 and 1914 to encouragement and application instead of mathematical formulas
after a few years of this new "focus" they can quietly leave out the "old" focus and eventually lose the original teachings all together

'great crowd' are in the temple (naos) but not in the new covenant???
by fukitol inin one of the biggest about-faces in watchtower history, in a 2002 question from readers it was admitted that the great crowd is indeed in the temple itself (naos) in revelation 7. .
but notice the statement bolded below from that article comparing the great crowd to the proselytes in ancient israel.
the statement is made that the proselytes "submitted to the law covenant.

"The very second that the R&F realize that they are in the new covenant, the wheels will start turning in their minds. Who knows what dissent will occur afterwards? This is a problem. The WTBTS will NEVER change this teaching."
most R&F JWs wouldn't have a CLUE as to what we're talking about. You would have to teach them what they "used" to believe at the same time you are telling them what they "now" believe
