I'm SHOCKED

aint that about a bitch!!!
when my brother said this to me the other day, i tried my hardest to try to explain why the watchtower's polices on sexaul abuse and molestation in the past, and he said that it was the parents fault (not the watchtowers fault) that these children got molested, and that its the parents job to protect the children.
i tried to tell his thick headed, simple minded self that back in the day parents were threated with disfellowshippment and dissassociation if they reported this to the police.
I tried to tell his thick headed, simple minded self that back in the day parents were threated with disfellowshippment and dissassociation if they reported this to the police. He said that that should not have happened, but the watchtower is not at fault.
I remember even as a child knowing that we were supposed to let the org. police itself. Even as a small child! you werent to tell your teacher anything, the police, no one. Even as a kid I knew this would get you DF'd and then God would have to kill you at Armageddon.
But since this isn't actually in print JW's deny that ever was the case. Well how the hell did I know that even as a 10 year old kid? ALL JW's know the unwritten rules, they know these more so than the written ones!
to say that this was not the case is out right lying
..........said mrs punk!.
this was how she justified screaming abuse at me an slamming doors when she overheard me tell a bloke who was about to get baptized why i quit the meetings.
in fairness i wouldn't have said a thing but he asked me.
I wonder if Mrs Punk is actually more frightened of the WBT$ than in love with it?
- I don't think most J-dubs know the difference. The WTS has spent a long time conditioning them to beleive that fear of God is about LOVE and not actually fear, and of course to fear God means to fear the organization so...
have you noticed about JW diehards in respect of their perception of the WBT$?
I think ranmac answered that question well here:
Your wife is grasping at straws. She cant logically refute you so all she has to go on is emotion. Blind intensified emotion.
that is so true. JW's are not used to being questioned about WTS doctrine by other JW's, only simple questions by house holders that they have been trained to answer week after week the the KH. They cannot however, answer deep questions about WTS doctrine because they DON"T UNDERSTAND IT TO BEGIN WITH.
This is easy to deal with because they just believe that the WTS would never lie to them and that they don't need to understand it as long as that one smart guy in the KH understands it they will just bring him along to their RV with them and he can sort it out.
Well they can't exactly pull this over on their spouse so now you questoning the org exposes how naive they are! Thus as ranmac said: the blind intensified emotion.
woj
okay, so i am new to the site, but i have been following ur threads for awhile now, and i am finding great comfort in them!
no, i am not a witness and i have never been, and never will be!
i did however, date a witness for about three years.. it was our typical 357th biweekly 'man hating' girls night out, and meeting mr. right was the last thing on my mind!
Hi Madge and welcome!
I was glued to your experience, I cannot believe what you have endured to still now be dealing with the grip of the watchtower society.
As much as I would love to see you succeed in gaining your daughter's father, I find it difficult to imagine he will ever be stable enough to let go of his security blanket (the WTS)
especially condiering how his mother died, he will likely use that experience as a reason to "stick with the truth" - a very typical JW response to bereavement
He will likely feel the 'need' to protect his daugher from the 'world' and imagine himself in the new system with his mother meeting his daughter for the first time - do not think for a second that he has not deeply pondered this percieved reality.
If he has not mentally left the WTS after all he has seen so far, it is unlikely he ever will. Oh he won't be a special pioneer or anything like that, but he will beleive it's the 'truth' even if he is completely inactive. It is this chronic duality that will likely drive him into a life of depression.
This is the sad reality of what the WTS does to the psyche of the emotionally weak. You need to seriously talk to him about where he stands and if he will seek therapy and counseling. You need to make a decision for you and your daughter about what kind of future you want and need
my apologies if this video has already been posted at some point in the past.
only recently did i become aware of this particular video.
the opinions of the author are expressed in a way that was new to me.
"i'll answer this once you answer "by what method are you aware of when you'e doing something 'morally correct and/or incorrect?' "
morality is based on the social mores of the time.
for example, look at this ad from way back when (not sure of the year)
obviously this was not frowned upon at the time, but if a company were to run an ad like this today?? I would say this is just a bit too "child porny" for today's social mores.
Its like anything else. Morality is defined by what is acceptable to the majority. If you are raised to believe it, you likely will.
from what i've researched these religions seem to believe almost everything the jws do, with very minor differences.
i'm curious if anyone here is part of one of these religions or knows a place that i can go to find out all their beliefs to see every difference?.
.
I had a teacher that was Christadelphian. If I recall correctly they don't accept a literal existence of Satan, but rather that he is a personifcation of the inherent evil within us.
I also am pretty sure they count time for "witnessing" about their faith. Would they call that "Christadelphianing"
aloha everyone...................please do help if u can.
hope u dont get bored reading this quite long text
i'l soon be 17, i'm an unbaptized publisher, but innactive (havent gone door to door)for more than a year, but still very strict with our organisation's standards (lyk no teenage dating).
first of all, welcome here! it's great to meet you, you will find a lot of help and support here. Be ready to hear a lot of people telling you to get as far away from the WTS as you can being you are young, single and have your whole life ahead of you. Many of us here are stuck b/c of spouses and kids.
trust me, tons here are unbelievabley jealous of you.
regarding your statement above
I wrote down a number of questions (eg, do the anointed around the world communicate? Whch is the most correct year for the fall of Jerusalem? Where Paul's letters inspired by the holy spirit?), n handed them to my bible teacher and she handed them to an elder.........so i'm waiting in the mean time, advice pleez
I hope you are ready for a world of hurt. This is going to get a major witch hunt rolling on you. You need to decide how your are going to answer their apostate finding questions.
Do you want to be DF'd or just fade? If you don't want to DF you are really going to need to tread water on this one...
The holy spirit will be grieved upon the congregation if we are not wholehearted in our thinking with Christ’s direction through the faithful and discreet slave
such a lame attempt at a scare tactic. They are effectively saying that if everyone in the KH does not completely accept the F&DS teachings the holy spirit will abandon the enitre congregation.
Then they try to say that activity in the hall proves that it has
what a crock of shit
yup.
let's begin.. i went to the kingdom hall yesterday for the first time in awhile.
the public talk was something like "trust in jehovah" and the speaker (whom i know personally and is a tad "off") was rambling on about the persecution that we are going to face imminently.
What I believe it means is if the escape happens in "winter" or Sabbath THEN the tribulation will be great
I believe he was just talking to those people right then and there because its cold in winter and on the sabbath there wouldnt be any taxi's on duty to drive them out of town
he always tells me that i've adopted him as a father...we're pretty close.
i spoke with him asking for some advice about whether or not to pursue my degree.he, to my surprise, couldn't give me his opinion.he told me that if he tells me how he really feels (he says he has some strong views on the matter) he may be disciplined for 'promoting higher education'....in effect he was telling me to go ahead and pursue my degree but not really saying it.
he asked me to promise him that i'll speak to the presiding overseer and the circuit overseer....i haven't as yet.
MGG20 - good for you!
funny how even the WTS supports higher education yet don't even realize it. what do I mean?
a year or 2 ago I attended a CA where the CO referred to a "report" that showed that 75,000 jobs in the US that only require a high school diploma are staffed with college graduates. His point was that college is a waste of time and money since you may only get the same job you would have recieved with only a HS diploma.
THINK ABOUT THIS
This IDIOT just PROVED that 75,000 high school graduates are now UNEMPLOYED because college graduates took their jobs!!!!!! So now you need a college degree just to get a low wage unskilled job?? How does that not support the need for higher education?
I was dumb founded. Everyone just nodded their heads with wide-eyed amazement of how smart they are for not wasting their time in college. Then they all went to their night shift cleaning jobs to make minimum wage and rent a crappy basement apartmen.
