  for a year now, i have been handling the accounts.

  we have 6 elders and 7 ms, and none of them ( i am not serving), want to do the accounts, so they asked me to do it.

  here is what i have noticed.. 4 elderly sisters cover the whole congregation in donations monthly!

  even when I beleived it was the Truth TM I didnt donate except for 1 year I wrote checks out. Absolutely the older sisters are the financial backbone.

  I remember signing the duplicate for a $13,000 donation to our KH (from an old sister that died) and hand delivering the reciept to the accounts servant. I listened for months at the accounts report and NEVER heard a word about the donation or a dollar figure anywhere near that in our savings or donated to the society.

  It was completely absent from the accounts reports.

  TOPIC 1 - heavy petting

  Matthew 18 is about a spirit of repentance. it says "if you are sorry & repent, then great, but if you are not sorry approach the older ones."

  Your husband is sorry so he is free and clear according to scripture... he didn't even have to tell the elders in the first place.

  TOPIC 2 - getting married with doubts

  WHOA! get this sorted out RIGHT NOW. Figure out what your doubts are and determine if Watchtower is right for you. If it is, great. If it isn't.... you need to tell him square in the face that you cannot marry him without him knowing how you feel.

  My opinion (which means nothing) - put the breaks on a wedding day, figure your stuff out, and let him off gently. He's probably not the one for you.

  My sister almost died.

  ever since i was a little boy i've been aware of this vague story about my older sister having some issues at birth, but never knew the details.. yesterday i was having a conversation with a much older cousin, who is a non-practicing jw about different watchtower issues.

  while discussing the blood issue she totally came out with the story about my sister, which i never knew before.. when my sister was born some 40 years ago, my mother had the delivery at home with the help of a midwife.

  i'm not entirely sure why this decision was made instead of going to a hospital.

  Whiskey with Cigars

  i know a few folks here are huge cigar fans, i am asking if anyone can tell me a good whiskey to go with cigars.. i am sure this is kind of a broad question but i ma having some folks over for poker this weekend and i am trying to set things up real nice like... lol.

  i have the cigars ready - but i don't want to break out the cheap crown royal... any suggestions.

  thats like asking what cheese to eat with wine

  we need more information! what KIND of cigars do you smoke? cornerstore cheapies? Cuban hand rolled? big fat spicey cigars? small narrow sweet cigars?

  Whiskey can range from smokey and peppery to mild and citrus tasting.

  I prefer a 6x52 with Glenfiddich on the rocks with a splash of cold water. if your sucking on 7x49's you might need more flavor in your whiskey (ahem... scotch) to keep up with all the spice of the cigar.

  if you prefer small, sweet cigars then you might want a nice whiskey blend ... say Forty Creek or Weisers Deluxe with water to allow the sweetness of the cigar to not get drowned out.

  Someone else said Macallen, its a great scotch but I'd stay away from the single malt's until you get a taste for it, they are delicious but have A LOT of flavours and might be a bit too much at first.

  I dunno....... I'm just a putz anyway

  oh one more thing........... DO NOT put coca-cola on the table!!!!!!!!!!!!

  A question for elders and former elders who have served on JCs

  based on your experience of judicial committees, how would you advise someone who is due to meet with the elders and has asked for the best way to avoid being disfellowshipped?

  is denying everything ever a successful strategy?

  does addressing a letter to the elders threatening legal action if they disfellowship ever work?

  i was born in a jw family and i grew up as the average jehovah's witness does.

  even being very young, i helped with the territories and other work in the congregation.

  if you had let your mother die that day I can't imagine the grief and pain you would be living with now.

  Please don't be sad over this... you should be high-fiving yourself EVERYDAY of your life for what you did!

  i thought i would share this fb message from someone who considers himself to be a "true" friend of mine.

  after learning from my former husband tha i am disfellowshipped, he writes the following: .

  fb true friend: "xxxxx with tears in my eyes i will be deleting you but i want you as my sister again.

  i am sorry your going through this.

  the cryptic language is so typical of JW's in this scenario. Using Jehovah and Satan sounds condeming, judgemental and just plain whacky. they don't answer because they don't like to articulate why they can't talk to you lest they sound like a brainwashed culty. They just dance around the uncomfortable and use cheeky pro-nouns that make them feel less brainswashed.

  .... after all... you know what they mean! :P
