I know I should probably create a new thread, but perhaps one of you can provide me with an "Watchtower Society explanation" of John 2:19-21?

Thanks for the responses. Not surprisingly, the Watchtower Society has an explanation for it. Interesting how it will use Matthew 28 to supports its claim, but distorts Phillipians 2, which explains why Jesus said Jehovah was greater than he.
Jeffro, I am confused about the Jeremiah 25:12 reference, and how it could be so damaging to its authority reputation. Could you explain?

First of all, I am neither trying to play the devil’s advocate, nor am I a troll. I am searching for the truth, and am exploring the faith of Jehovah’s Witnesses. A lot of the questions I have had, the Watchtower Society has been able to provide a logical explanation, but I still have questions.
Jeremiah 17:10 says, “I, Jehovah, am searching the heart, examining the kidneys, even to give to each one according to his ways, according to the fruitage of his dealings” (New World Translation). In Revelations 2:23, however, declares, “And her children I will kill with deadly plague, so that all the congregations will know that I am he who searches the kidneys and hearts, and I will give to YOU individually according to YOUR deeds” (NWT). The speaker is identified as the one who “holds the seven stars in his right hand, he who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands” (Revelation 2:1 NWT). Earlier in Revelation 1:12-17 this man is revealed to be the “son of man” (NWT). These passages are conflicting, but I am curious to know the Watchtower Society’s position on the subject.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Jonathan Dough,
First, I am a Christian who is exploring the Jehovah's Witness beliefs, because if they feel that they have the truth, maybe they do. I am trying to be open, but I have to ask questions that confuse me and hopefully can be explained in a way that proves the Jehovah's Witnesses have the truth. Is this okay with you?

Who is the Mighty God?
by s-c-3-1-3 inisaiah 9:10 says, for there has been a child born to us, there has been a son given to us; and the princely rule will come to be upon his shoulder.
and his name will be called wonderful counselor, mighty god, eternal father, and prince of peace.
in the next chapter, however, jehovah is described as the mighty god: and it will certainly occur in that day that those remaining over of israel and those who have escaped of the house of jacob will never again support themselves upon the one striking them, and they will certainly support themselves upon jehovah, the holy one of israel, in trueness.

A mere remnant will return, the remnant of Jacob, to the Mighty God” (Isaiah 10:20-21 NWT).
I looked in an interlinear translation and notice that the same Greek words are used in both passages to says, “Mighty God.” I would appreciate if someone could explain this. How do the Jehova's Witnesses explain it.

Hi,
Ultimately, the Trinity is difficult to understand, but it is the only way that all of the scripture contradictions can be correct. Because the Watchtower Society cannot understand the concept, it changes the Bible to make it "easier to understand" or to fit with its understanding.
Can I ask honestly who here is a baptised Jehovah Witness who believes in the deity of Christ or the trinity?

Larsinger58, unfortunately, it is not this simple. Once again, I do believe that this passage is suggesting that Jesus is the creator, and am still waiting for someone to provide concrete evidence that I am wrong and Jehovah alone is the only creator. The thing is, if he used Jesus, would Genesis's account of creation go something like, "God commanded Jesus to create light." Are there any Jehovah Witnesses who believe that Jesus and Jehovah are one?

Isaiah 43 proves that Jesus did not create "all other things." God in the flesh would just confirm the oneness of Jesus and Jehovah, would it not? Also, John 14:28 says that Jehovah is greater than Jesus, but then again in John 10:30 it says Jehovah and Jesus are one. Both of these can't be right. Just out of curiosity, is a Jehovah Witness allowed believing Jesus is God?

I personally do not believe that "other" should be included, but for argument's sake I will agree with the Watchtower's translation.
If you read the passage carefully, it is certainly saying that all things besides Jehovah were created by Jesus. In fact, if it was saying Jehovah created everything it would not have put "other," right? It would have kept it in its original.
The real issue of confusion I am having is Genesis chapter 1 that talks about how Jehovah created all things; both cannot be right because the Watchtower says Jesus and God are not the same. I'm guessing it's because it's in the Old Testatemt? I'm just really not sure.
Basically, I am confused how the following two statements can be correct:
1. Sally invented the body wash.
2. Sally gave birth to Jennifer who invented the body wash.
In a way, this is kind of what Genesis is and Collosians. It's an example but maybe makes sense and helps you see where I'm confused?
