  Why JW's take on education is truly disingenuous

  we've all waxed poetic about the jw views on higher education and how they truly stifled people trying to pursue an education.

  but what did they offer as an alternative??!!.

  at least mormons (who's theology is as equally fucked up as jws) had an accredited school in brigham young university that their people could aspire to attend.

  The apparent contradiction of John 3:13

  the wts uses john 3:13 to prove that before jesus no one was taken to heaven.. in the nwt, john 3:13 reads:"moreover, no man has ascended into heaven but he that descended from heaven, the son of man.".

  notice a difference to the king james bible:.

  john 3:13 - "and no man has ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the son of man who is in heaven.

  I have one... It's stuff like this that made me an atheist... I could no longer believe in something that could be subject to such varying opinions at what it may or may not mean..

  The fact that you have to go to such great lengths to figure it out .. some people may never have the time in their life too .. others may never have the intellect...

  I't s not what you were looking for I'm sure .. but I'm in an over posting phase again.. and it's my observation on this matter.. I do like you and your post though..

  you've actually made look afew things up in the bible.. LOL

  Fading ... and Feeling Lost

  prior to that we had been in a new congregation for about 9 months, and we were just irregular.

  my husband rarely went, and i would go occasionally with our toddler son just enough to show our faces and keep the elders off our backs, and for the sake of some friendships in our old hall.

  all of the reasons i had for going were just no longer important.

  I know how you feel ..it's been 20+ years since I've been out and I've never made any real friends .. that's why I'm always on here.. It makes me feel like I'm near people who understand me, which I've never felt before..

  Ok enough of that.. go to an event that you probably never would have thought of going to.. just look in your local event section of your paper ..

  pick something a concert, comedy.. sporting .. whatever .. don't go because of the event .. go just to be around a crowd of people..bump into people

  get out and just be around people .. It'll make you feel better..I promise .. sometimes I go to the store just to bump into people and say," Oh I'm sorry and flash my big grin excuss me"..then They smile back and ..ahh the free warmth of human contact.. and I usually ask every worker I come into contact with at that store ," How you doing today"

  you don't have to make new friends right away but, do not let yourself become an anti-social hermit .. get out

  anyway I hope you find some happiness..if you can't..... make some.. it's all around you..

  I don't read every Terry thread anymore ( to long sometimes).. he is a great poster , and when I first got on the site, couldn't stop reading his stuff for days..

  he is a good example of my point .. maybe not the best .. now that you mention it flipper is .. I don't know how they do it..

  when ever I see some one who comments on every single comment, whether those said comments are directed at them or not..

  it's one of those things that make me go HUmmmmm ... why a person feels compeled to answer everything and everyone on a thread they didn't start..

  they must THINK they are pretty smart!!'

  on the other hand the ones who answer everyone on the threads they start .. I'm like wow they are very sharp.. example Terry

  sorry if this is off topic but, with the activity on this thread it's tough to ignore .. I felt compeled to comment.. I've had this observation for some time and no where to share it ..

  Elders who criticized brothers talks for being TOO strict?

  did you ever try to teach god's word the way it was supposed to be rendered only to deal with elders and others who wanted you to "tone it down" or have your "words seasoned with salt" although you weren't saying anything wrong.

  you were just telling the truth and they didn't want to hear it.

  How can one understand unusual personal experiences such as when going from door-to-door?

  given that i know how corrupt, dishonest and evil the watchtower is, i have wondered how to understand a personal experience i had many years ago - long before walking out mid-2009.. after an unusual series of many "co-incidences" on a particular sunday, my friend and i ended up at the door of someone who had been praying to god for someone to be sent to him, and who was expecting us.. i am still convinced it was by divine intervention, but cannot understand why a prayer is answered by sending representatives of an apostate organisation.. also when taking up residence in a foreign country, under very difficult circumstances, i twice ended up "inadvertently" moving in to homes just around the corner from the kh.

  on one occasion it was about a 15 metre walk from my front door right into my seat in the kh!.

  have you had similar experiences?.

  you were going door to door for what you thought was God .. you ended up at the door of someone who was praying to God ...for someone to come to his door..

  You were not there for God but, but a book publishing company.. so no prayer was answered...

  let me bottom line it for you .. you were going door to door .. chances are pretty good that some one might have prayed before you got there..

  It happened to me more than once in my fields service experience..

  you go to enough doors something will end up seeming intentional ,

  it would be odd if that scenario never happened .. what are the odds of going door to door looking for people looking for God and you never found ONE.. very slim

  hope that puts it into perspective .. it is what is .. not divine intervention

  sorry Ray I didn't think a " the bible is crap post" was out of line on a thread where believers are trying to figure out if Jesus is a liar...

  really you believe in him for salvation... but wait, help me with this verse it apears he might be lying... I'm not sure .lol

  what proves jw's aren't true?

  i am inactive and it took years of doubt to convince myself the jw's arent true.

  i started doubting because i hated the idea that jehovah would kill 6 billion non-jw's.

  the thing now that is the most important proof for me is that until 1954 jw's worshipped jesus and it is still in the watchtower charter, even though you now get disfellowshipped for worshipping jesus.
