THIS is one that I would like to do at the bar. Except maybe the three of us do it unplugged. My son refuses to sing so it would just be Bill doing the vocals and me on harmonies. Isn't this a fun song? I think it is good for open mic night. Get people on their feet!

I have been considering signing up for open mic night at a local sports bar here in my little town. When i was about 16 years old I started recording some songs I did alone and also with a couple of friends. Back in 2009 an old girlfriend of mine found a box of my old reel to reel tapes in a box in her mom's garage and she sent them to me. Needless to say the vast majority of the music was lost due to most of the tapes being subjected to 30 years of heat and cold. But I was able to retrieve a few of the songs and convert them to MP3s and finally do some tweeking and make them sound good.
My son is also a guitarist and a buddy of mine who I reconnected with at my 30 year high school reunion in 2010 is still playing and singing. So we are thinking of doing an old Sheriff song titled, "When I'm With You". We are working it up when we get together which is infrequently AND separately and discussing things on the phone. Bill lives in Orange County, CA and my son and I live up here near Fresno. So...ya. Gonna be awhile before we can do that one.
I have linked to a recording I did back in 2010. Do you think I should do Open Mic Night with this one to get my feet wet? It's been over thirty years since I got on a stage to play so I am a little nervous. Please be honest....

My advice to you would be to be careful of how and what you say about what you have discovered. You run the risk of losong your family if they decide to follow the letter of the law set up by the wt. I have seen it several times where a young person expresses doubts and they are bullied back into line by the fear of losong any financial support and more dangerous...Loss of communicationw ith their family.
We are all here to help with questions and support.

I read a post from a new member a moment ago and was intigued by something they said. They were afraid of joining this site for fear that Mister Satan would control their pc. This idea reminded me of something and I decided to share it.
While visiting my father in laws place in years past we would bring a laptop over and use a wireless connection to have Web Access. He was STRONGLY opposed. He feared that the devil would enter his home via our internet connection. WTF? He has tv's and radios in his house. Didn't the wt used to say that watching this or that would bring the devil in? LOL
Well, once we went next door to his brother's house. You know him...I call the drunken, abusive wife beater, COUNT DRUNKULA. Anyways, HE has a computer and said we could use it one time. So my son and I went over to check our emails. That drunk stood behind us the entire time we were on his computer. No doubt SECURING his home from Mister Satan's attempts to invade his theocrap-tic home.
I wonder how these people come up with this crap. If Jah is SO opposed to us using the EMF Spectrum WHY did he provide us with it? And if Satan CAN piggyback onto the EMFs can't Jah just set up a Theocratic Firewall to bounce his ass off of a jw's machine? LOL I can see it now....Angels are here to protect us and they guard our computers from random phishing and viral attacks by Satan. But if we go to apostate sites, look at porn, or do any kind of biblical research with our computers, Jehovah will consider this a misuse of his loving provision of EMF and will call back his angelic host and allow your computer...Indeed your HOME to be taken over by Mister Satan.
Smurfs, computers, tv, radio. Is there ANYTHING else that Satan uses to mislead us? LOL

i'm born in, but always had my little doubts about "the truth" since i was young, but went ahead and got baptized ect.... .
i stumbled upon this site while looking for a km and initially thought it was a jw forum, but after seeing some of the titles of various threads, i thought to myself "i'm on an apostate website".

Facebook and employment interviews

there is a growing trend that employment interviewers are asking for facebook profile with login password.. they are looking into everything you post.. there is no law in the books to prevent this!.
even though i'm self employed, i think this goes beyond what's required of hirees!.

There should be SOMETHING in the privacy laws to protect people form this kind of shameless intrusion. Being in the IT field I can say that it is beyond unethical to ask ANYONE for a pw. If they want to find my fb profile, good luck trying. I have it set up to where the ONLY people who can search for me are friends. And I use an email address to login that no one knows. If they put the email address I submit on a job aplication they will find NOTHING. I would like to see the source of this topic because it sounds like an urban legend to me as well.

by Momma-Tossed-Me ini talk to a lot of people about the watchtower because it comes up in conversation all of the time.. money eventually becomes a topic as it is a very wealthy corporation.. so the question is always raised and it is a good one, "who controls it?".

I am going through a similar situation with a jw. She has harbored doubts for years and when she voiced them she had benn slapped down pretty hard. I voiced a concern to her about the way the wt deals with the elderly and infirm bethelites. She scolded me and said NOT to DARE speak negatively about the org. I called her on her own hypocrisy and attitude and effed her off. Recently we began speaking again and she reitterated her faith in the imperfect org, but that we could be friends so long as I don't voice any more concerns....
I am afraid like your friend, mine is still under that old wt spell.

Does the WT still use Zech.8:23 as a last days prophecy ? In veiw of the fact (evidently) the numbers of converts are decreasing worldwide ?
by smiddy inthis is a scripture that was used a lot during the 70`s & 80`s proving that the end was so close,and it was to culminate in a grand influx before the great tribulation.

when you look at the reality of the situation in this day....,their seems to be a marked decline in worldly converts in christendoms lands.....,mainly baptisms coming from young born ins,..... and certainly no marked increases from either asian, oriental, or other non christian lands,that would seem to indicate another failed prediction/prophecy we can credit to the f&ds class.

In my experience the wt will swap out another scripture to cover any deficiencies in the one they have been using to explain something so that it looks like they have god's blessing or favor. If the numbers go up, say they are being blessed according to scripture A. If the numbers drop, use scripture B to explain that the love of the greater number has cooled off. IN either case they are covered. Scripturally.
