So true, the wt makes everything about promoting their crap. I heard of his passing three weeks after it happened so I was at least spared the debating going or not to the funeral.

A jw I Know Died
by TOTH inpoor old guy had a sudden heart attack and just died.
he was 70 and was never sick even once in the time that i knew him the past 6 or 7 years.
he was very active, ran a business, restored old cars, and was of course active in the jw ministry.

Funny story! I guess that settles it.
by BreathoftheIndianNose inso about 2 years ago i decided to put an end once and for all to the myth about jw's being a cult.
if i could prove it to myself that we weren't, i could prove it to those annoying people at the doors who say jws are a cult as well.
it was really hard to find a deffenition that proved that we weren't a cult.

Poor old guy had a sudden heart attack and just died. He was 70 and was never sick even once in the time that I knew him the past 6 or 7 years. He was very active, ran a business, restored old cars, and was of course active in the jw ministry. He was an ass to me and my family. Even to my kids. But I suppose it was not HIS fault. He was only following orders from upstairs to push and push and dodge questions.
His passing is still sad to me though. In another reality I think I may have called him a friend since we had so many similar interests. what a shame people are locked into such a horrible mindset like that of the wt. His poor widow has ALWAYS been sick and THAt is what my father in law was focused on when we discussed the guy's passing. I feel bad for her and have considered paying her a visit and letting her know that as her neighbors, my family is here if she needs anything.

The Fundamental Mistake
by TD inthere's a funny story that's circulated among engineering types about a young vp at arco.
he saw an inordinate amount of 'boiler operators' on the payroll and noticed that they made an inordinate amount of money.
he decided that he would save the company a bunch of money by out-sourcing the building maintenance.

It's sad that the lemmings aka rank and file do not know any better than to do as they are told regardless of how asenine or dangerous the instructions are. Off the cliff they stroll.

Will Jehovah himself kill me, or will Jesus, Satan, or someone else?
by InterestedOne ini've heard people here say jw's believe that jehovah will slaughter non-members of the jw religion when armageddon comes any day now.
does the watchtower teach that jehovah himself will do the killing, or is it delegated to someone else like jesus, satan, angels, or humans killing each other?
who is the actual killer in the picture?

Jesus has a spiritual lawnmower and mows down all apostates, nay sayers, hyocrites, masturbators, and non jw's. Oh, jw masturbators and hypocrites survive because they are under the umbrella of the wt. If no for that NO jw's would be saved.

Love or Faith?
by jbeau504 insee, there was a young girl who i met at the post-funeral house party my family held after my aunt passed.
she was already a regular pioneer.
an elder's daughter, third-gen-jw, but far more dedicated than i ever was.

Know your place is what I learned at the hall. If anyone below the rank of elder approached an elder's daughter they were not KEEPING their place. It seems that there is a caste system of sorts in jwdom. Elders with daughters only get elders. Pioneers get with other pioneers and publishers better keep their place.
I don't know how old you are but you seem young to my 50 years. I would proceed with caution and see how things go. Just beware of the place minders around you.

Pioneers Bearing No Fruit
by TOTH inmy father in law's sow has been a pioneer for what...twenty plus years now?
she has yet to see any of her studies progress to baptism.
i know this is an excellent thing but to jw's you would think it would be tragic.

Low key, Not at all. I was alluding to the stigma that jw's associate with tattoos and piercings and the like. For me, tats are cool. The lady is however QUITE the miscreant! LOL

Remarrying, then paradise =problem?
by Inisc inthis is a question i always wondered about and never got an answer to.. its also another reason why i'm finding it harder to believe in an 'afterlife'.. th idea that humans can live forever, now seems so scientificly impossible.. so i wanted to ask all the great minds on here,.
if someone's spouse dies, and then they remarry, then armageddon comes and goes then the deceased is resurrected,.
how,is that ever gonna work?

TOTH
Complex question that the wt oversimplifies. I know that if I spent my life hoping to reunite with my wife after resurrection and found her to be remarried I would be crushed. If we are to be resurrected fully human AND as the same person, then we will no doubt have feelings. One brother explained the resurrection like this. A man was being chased down and eventually was devoured alive by a lion. He would be resurrected with his arms and legs flailing about in defense of his life. He would remember the last moments of his life and continue forward from that point. What about a guy who had a heart attack screwing the love of his life? Then she is remarried? Hmmm

My father in law's sow has been a pioneer for what...TWENTY plus years now? She has YET to see any of her studies progress to baptism. I know this is an EXCELLENT thing but to jw's you would think it would be tragic. Not even her own kids are in the wt anymore. They fled as soon as they turned 18. One is a very nice lady who has no interest in being married or having a family. I wonder how THAT happened....The other lady is covered with tattoos, has a bunch of worldy kids and at the moment is shacked up with a member of the MS-13 gang. HE is so adorable! Tattoos all over his body. FACE TOO! Such a disappointment to SOW.
When I lived in Albuquerque we had another STAR pioneer. She was the daughter of the school overlord and from a large family of uber judgmental jw's. She never brought in any of her studies either. At least none I ever heard of. We did see her out in the field quite often when we would be running errands and doing other stuff. She was DRIVING around the territory. Imagine THAT is how she spent the days no one was there to accompany her in service. My sister went with her on many return visits and NO ONE was EVER home...
I wonder if any of you ever knew of any fruitless pioneers.
