  THE EXORCIST!!! OMG! And I remember a doosh co named Mega that BANNED R rated movies. He actually told the congregation that if we were seen IN LINE at a R rated movie to expect to be called into the little room and be df'd!

  I heard back in the early 70's in albuquerque how a sister had turned on DARK SHADOWS because the channel was left on that station. when she tried to change it she was SHOVED back from the set and the volume went up all the way. ANYTHING to prove that Sa-tahhn was forcing us to bend to his will. B S!!!

  I watched Buffy too and CHARMED after I was grown of course since I'm old...LOL Once in Albuquerque one sister's son took a SKELETOR action figure to play with at the hall. My brother and I watched HE MAN religiously and we were in our twenties already...LOL We laughed!

  When I was in about fifth grade some kids were talking about King Kong vs Godzilla coming on Friday night on the Creepy Creature Feature. we asked our folks if we could watch it and my dad said NO. Because GOD was in the name of one of the characters....

SHHHH I watched them anyways. I even pointed out how I had seen a wire moving a plate on Bewitched one time. I got smacked for having the show on in the first place....

  I was talking about this ban to my wife who's dad was an elder for many years. Those shows were banned in their home as well along with STAR TREK! STAR TREK!!! WTF! Yup, her dad saw my hero and Mrs. TOTH'S boyyyfriend, Captain Kirk and his brave crew materialize out of thin air and said it was DEMUNIZM! BANNED tv show...No interest in learning that the transporter device was a sophisticated and futuristic MACHINE. Just DEEEMUNNNZZ and that's it.

  Of course our dads could sit and watch all the violence of Gunsmoke and Combat, Mannix and Cannon, but fake magic shows done with wires and mirrors were of SATAN....Not that I don't love those old shows too, just sayin'....

  Anyways today I love to watch my old time tv shows and recently found THE BIG VALLEY on the INSP channel. I forgot how great that show was! And I have to admit that I NEVER miss an episode of the CW's SUPERNATURAL! Demon and monster hunting brothers who KICK ASS on everything evil. They even sent ol Mister Satan back to the pit a couple of seasons back. Nothing weird going on in this house today like candles that won't blow out or pictures coming to life. Maybe it was the WT DEEMUNZ that harassed me all those years ago? LOL

  Anyone else here used to get the same kind of tv bans? Anyone today relishing in paranormal, demon, and other horror movies and shows?

  Guns And Self Defense??

  i know jehovah's witnesses can have firearms for defense, but does the church ever attempt to set guidelines on the use of deadly force?

  also, are there jurisdictions in the church where handgun ownership is frowned upon?.

  I have always owned at least one firearm whether I was active or fading as I am right now. I have a .357 magnum revolver, a 45/70 government lever action rifle and a .303 British Lee Enfield Rifle that was used to fight the Japanese in WWII by an Australian soldier. when the elders bitched about my gun ownership I told them to take it up with CAESAR who gave me the right to bear arms for defense or hunting or any other lawful purpose. Since the governmental authorities are here by god's appointment, god gave me the right....end of discussion. I was of course, "Marked" for not displaying the proper servile attitude to them. SCREW THEM I say!

  i just checked my "topics posted by smiddy"page and the last six entrants are" smiddy" nobody has commented after me,and the posts are from a couple of days ago, to over a year ago.should i be worried ?

  i`ve never been shunned this much since i was a jehovah`s witness !

  so the hounder hounder co was in town for his bean counting mission and he was invited to pay my ill father in law a visit.

  just like every other time he comes since father in law never attends anymore because of his failing health but this time he is a little judgmental.

  my father in law felt very much like he was being interrogated rather than shepherded.

  Ya, we had some former professional musicians and singers in the congregation and they often played and sang folks songs. well a few kids got into trouble at some gathering and the co pitched a coniption over it and banned ALL gatherings/parties/celebrations. ANYONE found to have attended would lose priveleges and teh host would be sent to a jc and possibly df's. Stupid....
