Everybody has to do what they think is best for them. This cult just tangles people's lives up into one big old mess, and they never look back at all the damage they cause, they just keep pushing ahead, busting up more and more families w/o a thought or a care for the lives they've impacted. I see this organization finally, very clearly for what it really is.

The gun is the SHUN: the JW's who no longer believe but cannot leave!
by Terry inthe insidious bind the watchtower religion places on their members is unconscionable.. holding family and friends "hostage" as an extortion strategy may be their most potent weapon of enforced conformity.. .
in effect, like an armed criminal who points a gun at you and threatens "your money or your life", the watchtower leadership.

M*A*S*H and mind blown - I understand your point of view and I commend you for your stance.
I still love my sister, but I'm not going to make it conducive for her to use me and still cling to the organization. If she was in a desperate situation, yes, I would help her....but I want her to realize how messed up that whole situation would be if she could not reply on the very organization that has told her to distance herself from me. They tell her to walk away from me, but when she needs help, they talk out the other side of their mouth and say, "oh, well you better contact one of your relatives, because we don't that".
They make it seem like the organization is her family and that she does not need me anymore since I have left the bOrg. They repeatly say not to even "break bread with this person" to rely solely on God and the organization and by doing that (exercising faith, if you will) all of your needs, spiritually and otherwise will be met because you're among God's chosen people and God's hears your prayers and not their....so.....if they are speaking truth....why encourage JW's in the April magazine to use non-JW's or Ex-JW's relatives as their back-up plan?
I can see them spinning this as Jehovah "using me to help her" because she has been faithful in her stance not to deal with a D'fed relative unless it's an emergency. See, that's the type of B.S. I could see happening, while both her and organization get to play me for a fool, while she stays ignorantly devout and secure in her dealings with this cult.

I know I did'nt have as much to lose as others since only my sister is still in (the rest of my family and friends are not witnesses). I do miss my sister and I hate that she has taken the position to not speak to me and listen to them; but we are both grown adults and if that's what she chooses to do with her life, then this is where we part ways. I can't make someone do something they don't want to do, I can only control my environment, not someone else's.
Now they got her on a island by herself. No one is a JW but her and she knows damn well the witnesses are fair-weather friends. They will not be there when the going get tough like her own family. Yet these are the people she is putting her trust in so I hope it works out for her. I'm not going to frustrate myself or waste anymore of my life trying to convince someone they should leave, if it works for her, fine. I'm gone, I'm going to live MY life.
I can't live hiding, lying and ducking from people so I can stay in my sister's good grace, that's madness! I'm too old for that foolishness. Whatever I do am going to do it with integrity to myself, I can't live any other way. I refuse to live any other way.
Not only that, am a grown adult who is more than capable of taking care of myself and I hope to now be able to do for others as well in my community in the way of volunteering. So, I don't have to explain myself to anybody but Jesus Christ himself! The JW's are not my saviors, they are not my master, and they sure as hell can't judge me!
Sometimes we have to make very hard choices, and I know it can't be easy if the majority of your family, wife, husband, children, etc. are wrapped up in this cult. Yet if you stay and you know it's a lie, a sham - you are just killing yourself slowing.
In my opinion, that's no way to live and am sorry, I'm not going to end up depressed, on medication, lonely, frustrated, unfulfilled, unable to pursue the goals that make me whole and complete and enjoy the little things in life without being made to feel guility just to push watchtowers and awakes for some big-box printing corporation who could gives two blankie-blanks about me, cause they got my other family members by the throat.
I can only pray she comes to her senses, like I did - but I ain't looking back.

It's amazes me how selfish the W&TS can be. Getting all that money from selling their real estate holdings in Brooklyn, estate money from dead members, contributions, free labor from all JW's (got folks cleaning the damn bathroom with suits on, cause they too cheap to hire a janitoral service and put a small-business to work in the community - selfish bastards) etc. and can't do one damn thing for any of their active members in KH if they need the help. Shameful.
They villianize the churches but one thing I can say about most of the churches, they at least have outreach ministries. In the city I live in, they do try to help in the way of food banks, temporary assistance with clothing, utilities and rent. JW don't do any of that for their members or even the community they set-up their KH's in, they do not give back!
That in my opinion, is extremely selfish, uncaring and short-sighted. Yet just one more reason on top of many, many more why I was done with hypocritical, hate-promoting organization.

@ Nice_Dream - I'm going to major in Graphic Design with a concentration on advertising. I'm going for a two year degree first because I think that goal is more reasonable for me at this point, because am attending part-time and working a full-time job. After I complete the A.A.S. I will see if I want to do the other two years and get an undergraduate. Right now creating a reasonable and obtainable goal of two-years degree works for me since I won't complete it until January of 2015.
@ undercover - Oh trust, I won't, I've have not been in the organization that long compared to other people, so I still know how to party and keep my head straight! Plus, I'm driving so I won't be doing anything but having a beer at best! Thanks for the advice though!

Now how in the h.e.l.l. is the Watchtower going to tell a JW to contact a disfellowshipped or disassociated relative if they need help, when they are the ones that told you to cut them off in the first place.
I told everybody including my relative (who is still in) if you need help, you better contact the people at the KH or the governing body.. unless you plan on leaving. Since you are more loyal to them and the people in the KH then you are to your own relation, then let them help you! Don't call me because if you do, I'm going to give you some help in the form of advice - leave! You're not going to see a dime from me unless you plan on leaving! You want my help leave the organization FIRST!

Sorry, it is considered retro! Hey, but that decade had some of the best music! Beats some of the crap they play on the radio nowadays!

Fear of Armageddon
Fear of annihilation
Fear of apostates
Fear of missing meetings
Fear of slacking off in field service
Fear of what will happen if you say what you really think or feel (assuming you think or feel anything that hasn't been approved by the WTS)
Ding you are on a roll!! Keep it coming!

Brother Sidekick and his wife came to our house today. This ones for Moshe
by garyneal inwow, two days after my conversation with brother hero that brother sidekick shows up with his wife at our apartment.
i am not sure what he wanted but he shows me a newspaper article that suggests that jesus was in jail for the last supper and calculates his death at 33 c.e.. i honestly dont know what he was trying to get at but he and his wife started talking about the memorial.
he said that just like what the newspaper article said, the jews no longer use the old calendar.

I'll bet that you have a nice warm apartment on a cold day and a willing conversation, just what they want
So true, that a wonderful, cozy timewaster for them, so they will be back!
