I consider myself one of the lucky ones. I woke up at 29yo, left at 31yo and have a good 50 years left if im lucky. Even if i am hit by a bus or something tomorrow i've still done more in the past year than they have in their whole lives.

Im "Going To Die In Armageddon"
by pale.emperor in3 missed calls from my jw brother last night.
i didnt answer because he's actively shunning me and when he does ring it always to preach to me about how we're so close to the end and how i should "humble myself before the mighty hand of god" .
he then texts me saying "we need to talk".

2017 Convention Video To Be Shown Regarding The 1975 Failure
by pale.emperor inhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go3arnnsfkk&feature=youtu.be.
no mention whatsoever that it was watchtower themselves that strongly hinted towards this date.
instead they blame those who "put their trust in a date, not jehovah".. let's recap... .

"Wow Grandpa, I didn't know you had to endure all that."
Endure? What's to endure? A lot of them thought armageddon was gonna happen but it didn't and he apparently knew better than the majority of JWs at the time because he trusted in his trusty green bible. (Which, by the way, had "old light" in it - Jesus is to be worshipped etc).
Nothing to endure there. It's not as if he was a brother in Malawi in 1972 having his hands chopped off and his wife used by a mob in the street or anything. That's endurance.

Am I mistaken, or didn't one of your brothers question his study conductor about shunning, get the runaround, and then decide the dubs were full of crap? Is this the same guy? I had hope for that one, though I seem to remember that he was wrapped up in the fantasy of things like Armageddon from almost a superhero perspective.
Brother 2 is the one who was studying but stopped is the one living a "worldly" life.
Brother 1, who thinks demons live in my home and satan controls my life is the one that text me.

Sorry to say it, but your family appears to be composed of delusional quacks.
You're not wrong sir82.
Mother - hardcore JDub who famously once said "if the governing body said the sky is green then my eyes are wrong and the sky is green." She also tells people im dead.
Sister 1 - Proudly tells the rest of the family that if her children are not baptized by the time they're 16 they need to move out.
Sister 2 - Has never actually read the bible and gets all her information from the Watchtower magazines. Researches all topics from music, food, current events on JW library. Only if it's not on there will she consult Wikipedia.
Brother 1 - Is afraid of me since i left the Watchtower because demons might live in my house.
Brother 2 - Not a baptized JW, smokes, takes drugs, sleeps around but still shuns me. He's also very welcome to JW parties and weddings.
I think you can safely see why im not missing any of these people.

What has got them so worked up?
I've no idea. Nothing in this weeks CLAM to suggest the big A is any more imminent.

He then texts me saying "we need to talk". I didn't take the bait. He's done this before. Could it be a death in the family? Is he having doubts? I decided to leave it and i'd ring him in a day or two.
Then i get a random text from my sister. "Armageddon is just around the corner. It's like being 1 minute to midnight, you still have a choice, serve God or serve men" (oh the irony)
I didnt reply. Half an hour later she texts "You're going to die in armageddon".
So that's it folks. We should all worship Jehovah because if we dont he'll kill us all. Sounds like a lovely relationship.
This is one ex-JW that cant be motivated by fear.

God, i could be here all day... but i'd say the most bizarre right now is that of all the people in all the earth, Jehovah God chose seven men in New York to be his mouthpeice on earth... and THIS is one of them.

If Jesus had to choose his earthly organisation NOW, who would win?
by stuckinarut2 inwe all know that the society claims that jesus invisibly chose the bible students (forerunners of jw) in 1919 to be his organization here on earth.. yet, as we know, so much of what they then taught and did was wrong according to current teaching and practice.. the reply witnesses will give is something like "they were the most sincere seekers of truth blah blah...and jesus could see their potential".
so, pretend for a moment that the current organization and the 1919 organization were both in concurrent existence at the time he invisibly came to choose.... which would he choose?
the current or former?.

I think it's fair to say that Jesus would be disfellowshipped from the org very quickly if he were on the earth now.
He shown love and understanding
He expressed forgiveness
He stood up to "those taking the lead" of his day
He had a beard
He associated with tax collectors, prostitutes and sinners
And he wore a dress

I remember in the late 80s/early 90s when i was a little kid and my dad telling me "back in the 70s some people got the idea into their heads that armageddon would come in 1975. The Watchtower never said that. Bethel never said that. Someone thought it up and spread it around. Some people sold their houses and took out loans, quit their jobs and went on holiday thinking they'd never have to pay it back."
My dad came into
the truththe cult in 1977. Two years after the fiasco. So of course he only had second hand knowledge of what happened. No internet and CD Roms back then to check for himself what actually was said.
