march 22, 2017 to all convention committees re: discontinuation of physical distribution of convention releases.
Here in the UK at least the always cut a deal with the convention owners that we WILL make use of the refreshment stands. We're always "encouraged" to buy something from the hotdog/tea/coffee stands (even though the prices are far too high).
I remember Circuit Overseer Paul Robson in 4 years ago say on the platform "some people think we cut back on literature pages because of money. Hohoho!!, brothers, the society doesn't worry about money." - i'd like to hear that talk again. Receiving physical books at the convention was at least something to look forward to. I mean, they were the same re-cycled crap but it was something to expect. I read eBooks but i still prefer the real thing in my hands. Im sure we all do. And what of the old dears that dont like or don't want to use eReaders? Order one through your literature desk? We all know how long that takes to arrive.
Hmmm.... it's almost as if "there's more money going out, than there is coming in..."
Nice to hear. Long may they be sued and hemorrhage money.

sentences in bold are mine:.
a canberra man has been jailed for historical sex offenses against two teenage girls in his church in 2004.. the 56-year-old former jehovah's witness pleaded guilty to touching one's backside as she leaned in to log on to their home computer for him.. he also pleaded guilty to lifting another girl onto his lap and placing his hand on her genitals for two to three minutes.
Sentences in BOLD are mine:
A Canberra man has been jailed for historical sex offenses against two teenage girls in his church in 2004.
The 56-year-old former Jehovah's Witness pleaded guilty to touching one's backside as she leaned in to log on to their home computer for him.
He also pleaded guilty to lifting another girl onto his lap and placing his hand on her genitals for two to three minutes. The sisters were at his home after his wife had offered to babysit for their parents.
After the incidents the church launched an investigation and the man was "reproved" - disciplined within the church, the ACT Magistrates Court heard. He wrote a letter of apology to the girls and delivered it to their home. He did not return to the church.
It wasn't until 2014 that one of the victims approached the police and made a complaint.
Sentencing magistrate Bernadette Boss said it was "most unfortunate" that, as has happened before, a church failed to notify the authorities about an allegation of sexual abuse.
It made the church complicit and "appears to have exacerbated the effect on the victims of the offense," Dr Boss said. The two women provided victim impact statements to the court that were read out by the prosecutor. They described moving away from Canberra and struggling with their health and relationships with friends, family and God.
The elder sister said she took medication to sleep and would into the future, and even though she wanted a family it was dangerous to fall pregnant while taking the drugs.
The younger sister said she feared older men and had to end a serious relationship because the man looked similar to the offender.
"I was young and innocent and unable to defend myself," her statement read.
Dr Boss sentenced the man to a two-year good-behaviour order and 200 hours of community service for the first offense.
He was jailed for nine months for the second, more serious offense, with two months of that to be served in full-time custody and the rest suspended on another two year good behavior order.
The magistrate noted that as a result of the convictions the man would lose his job working in IT in the public service and had already lost his security clearance. He would be listed on the sex offender registry.
She noted the man had no criminal history. But she said that was unfortunately not unusual in this kind of offending where often it was a person's good character that gave them access to positions of trust.
"Our children are the most valuable asset of our community," Dr Boss said in sentencing. "They must be protected almost at all costs."
the longer you are out the more you see how a cult steals all your time, resources and energy.
we wasted so much because we were witnesses!
👎.
I do. But at the same time i think of it as something that made me what i am. I know this bullshit cult inside out, i know their arguments, i know their elders rules, i know how Watchtower works and how their members think - because i used to think that way too.
I do have some really happy memories as a kid such as the conventions in football statia (dont remember a single convention talk tho!) where there's be catering tables and you could buy cakes and fizzy drinks. I liked the witness house parties that were secretly worldly (most of whom have woken up and left). My regret is actually getting baptized and knocking on doors.
I should have went to university sooner and i should have spent more time on myself.
But i consider myself fortunate that i got out at 31yo and not 60+yo.
i left the organization.
my awakening was this month of july, the first week of july.
i couldn't answer my own questions about the organization or the doctrines, i couldn't understand the prophecies, i couldn't figure quite well what i was feeling.
Great news. Your life starts now!!
There seems to be a lot leaving lately. This is good news.
recently quit being a jw because i realised that beyond armageddon i was going to be ruled by people who cover up child abuse, not telling the congregations by their letter where the money they donated in the box is going towards paying compensation for legal battles which they caused, and also i was bullied by elders and discriminated against for being homosexual, even though i am not practicing it.
it wasn't until i threatened legal action for a breach of confidence that the elders were deleted.
so through the media and my own personal experience, i realised that they were no different to corrupt businesses in the world.
Welcome friend. Im from Liverpool. PM me if you need a chat. I've been out just over a year.

results will be here: https://goo.gl/xsxm2j.
And the winner is... TIGHTPANTS TONY!!
A winner by a landslide. It's interesting that nobody voted for Mark Sanderson. I expected more disdain for Gerrit Losch than for Stephen Lett to be honest.
the reason i like this site is in the fact that it speaks the truth warts and all.
the very title 'jehovahs witness discussion forum' draws the avarage witness to the site, perhaps thinking it is 'apostate' free.. the good thing is that jw's can read the real truth about the organisation/society...no holds barred.
my hope is that more people caught up in this captive religious organisation will open their eyes to reality!.
If it wern't for this site i dont know where i'd be right now.
I notice that the fully-in JW who joins up to try and debunk us last a few days at most then they scurry away.
bbc news website has this linked on front page.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40704990.
I just read this article and my first thought is that my family is going to dismiss it because "No one gets DF'd for missing a memorial."
I agree. In fact i used to dismiss news articles that criticized JWs because they'd always make an exaggeration.
tonight i had an argument with both my parents.
my parents are aware of my feelings towards the organization, and it saddens them because i am their first born son.
they had high expectations of me, my father dreamt of him and i serving together as elders.
Guilt is a powerful motivator, and it's used by cults excessively to make you do what the cult wants you to do. It's important to do what YOU feel is right otherwise you'll feel the other emotions that the cult uses excessively... unworthy, anger, controlled.
