I think it's possible for a change of trend in JW growth
by Chook injust like after decades of memorial partakers declining and now reversed.
this information age might reverse the trend of jw membership.

Don't believe me ... go look inside any Kingdom Hall in Europe or Australia ... and see that it's all ready just another a senior citizens club.
This is true. When i was still in and visited the congregation i grew up in they were 90% old people. I felt sorry for that one 20yo guy. No friends his own age, and who does he talk to at the KH? Old brother Joe?

"Even if this wasn't the truth, I would still stay. This is the best life to live..."
by HereIgo ini was recently told this by a jw family member when trying to get through to them.
does this quote indicate that maybe such ones have considered that the jw's may not have the truth after all?
or is that just my wishful thinking?

I've heard this so many times. Embarrassingly, I've even said it myself when i was a JW.
The best life to live? Compared to what exactly? If you were born in like i was what was i even comparing it to?

A disturbing reaction.
by longgone inearlier today i was listening to a you tube video about brain plasticity, how our minds aren't hardwired, and that by changing the way we think it can make actual physical changes in the brain.
which is cool for many reasons.
one in particular for me and likely any ex jw is that the way the wts has programmed us, especially those born in, can eventually get past it.

Personally, i found exposing myself to the actually EVIDENCE and PROOF of Watchtower lying in court, the UN letter and their twisting of scripture to be very helpful. Once you lose all respect for those bumbling old fools in Warwick you stop feeling guilty or afraid of "but what if it is the truth™?!"
It's also made me very skeptical of all religions. Particularly Christianity and Islam.

As long as the great and powerful GB and make looking at old light and apostate material "a sin" then people will stay indoctrinated. However, more and more outrageous things are being said on JWBroadcasting that im sure people are waking up but still arnt diving into JWFacts. Probably just bobbing along thinking when the GB die and are replaced by GB 2.0 they'll have a better religion. As tightpants Tony said this month "This is the best imperfect organization there is!"

There is always one!
by Isambard Crater ini am pimo but attended the r.c yesterday for family pressure reasons.
a "sister" i've not seen for a while told me her husband is overjoyed because a man he called on recently in the field service suddenly told him he wanted to attend the r.c.
the unusual thing is, this man is a millionaire having built a property portfolio.

Maybe he's ill and wants to be "insured" in case it is the truth. Although, i could think of a lot more appealing afterlives than the JW version.
Give me Valhalla any day of the week.

This convention talk offended me
by Isambard Crater inhere are my notes from the r.c yesterday, the talk called "jehovah – the greatest example of endurance".
many of you will understand why i found it offensive.. jehovah has taken the hard option of choosing to endure:.
reproach to his holy name.

Funny... since Jehovah is waiting longer and longer more and more people are being born into poverty in Africa, child abuse, rape, disease etc. So more people are going to die than he's going to save.
Ass.

Anyone taken the Metropolitan Museum of Art JW tour, "The Woman and Her Offspring"?
by Cadellin inthese are apparently private tours by jws (pios who do it for a "contribution," i believe), who highlight the "historical evidence" for various bible events or prophecies.
there are a variety of themes, but i had a relative just take one on the woman and the seed/offspring (is "offspring" the new word for jws?).
she thought it was the most amazing thing since sliced bread but i was curious if anyone here has taken one and what their take is....

I've taken one in the British Museum. Some Bethelites had a side thing going where they'd do a bible tour for a "contribution". At the time i was a JW and found it informative and interesting. But looking back i now realize he was just showing us ancient Egyptian/Babylonian things that are mentioned in the bible, it doesn't prove the existence of Moses or the red sea incident.
