I'll never set foot in a Kingdom Hall again.
You can take that to the bank. I dont care if it's a funeral, a wedding, a memorial...
It
will
NEVER
happen.
let's say an aunt or uncle dies.
.
let's say you barely knew them.. let's say their memorial service was held at the kingdom hall.. let's say if you attend, you have to deal with shunning from family and jws, and you are forced listen to them present their paradise promotional materials, and the dead person's "earthly hope™", and let's face it ... the heeby-jeebies of having to be in a kingdom hall again.. would you put yourself through it?

its been a minute since posting, have been trying to put this cult in my review mirror and just live life.
but you know this beast rears it's evil head.
my wife found my crisis of conscience book and out came the horns plus i guess what she is hearing at the meetings isn't helping either.
I remember back in 2008 when I was dating the woman who I'd later marry. Whenever I'd stay over at her parents house I'd be in the spare room which was literally a stockpile on bags of pasta, rice, tinned food and bottled water.
10 years later, the world is still here and all that food must have gone off by now.
Some entrepreneurial JW nut is even selling go bags to JWs on his website.

I love how, on their offical website, on a list of essential items the bible is even on there... right at the bottom.
my wife (uber) mentioned today an elderly man who comes to the kh and he suffers from a sever stomach complaint which needs surgery and that there is a 'waiting list' at the local hospital.. so i says, "why dont the elders put the $$ together to get his op done privately.
" (ie out of the govt system and 'waiting lists').
her answer was telling.
Back in the late 60s the mags even resorted to slandering the motives and character of any Jehovah’s Witnesses who do give to charity, claiming that they’re trying to cover up a guilty conscience.
"If there is any material giving, to charities for instance, it is because there is need to salve a conscience, or because one's reputation is at stake." - Watchtower 1969 May 1 p.280
yesterday i parked at a rest stop for a bit and there were 2 ladys at a cart.
the cart sign was hand painted.
that was odd to me.
I was wondering if anyone else had noticed paintings were becoming passé. Sometimes old paintings get reused, but comic book style illustrations appear to be "in" right now.neat blue dog: Some of the new cart art designs are simplistic, blocky renderings of previous artwork, (edited in the computer to look that way) and could be mistaken for crude artwork. Just a guess.
Yh I've noticed that the artwork seems to look like a paint-by-numbers job nowadays.
does anyone else feel overwhelmed on what to believe?.
i've been doing lots of research on beliefs, evolution, creationism but i feel no further forward about what i truly believe.
for example i looked at the fossil record and tiktaalic and thought great it proves a lot but then i've seen counter arguments on youtube of people basically saying its a load of rubbish and doesn't prove anything.
Perry, can you tell me why this god of yours created the guinea worm? A creature who's sole life purpose is to bury itself into the eyesballs of cattle and children and make them blind by eating the eyeball from the inside out?
Or how about cancer? What's the purpose of this "creation"? The little girl born with bone cancer which, apparently, your god created?

I feel it wise not to fall in the Watchtower trap of ever thinking we have "the truth". I live my life using evidence presented to me, if something better comes along I'll consider it and if it works go with it. My worldview is basically a model I use to navigate through the world around me.
This idea that we need to know "the truth" is the reason we have religion in the first place. Bronze age man see's a rainbow and so believes a man in the sky put it there as a promise not to bring a flood.
Now that we know about light particles being refracted through water vapor the bronze age explanation sounds like something a child would say, yet 8 million JWs actually believe the rainbow story.
Rather than worrying about what we believe, try to be comfortable with the fact that you will go on learning everyday. In 10 years we'll probably look back on today and laugh at some of the things we once thought. Especially medically. But this is actually a wonderful thing - not being content with "just believing" something, if we keep testing, questioning and trying we'll keep discovering new things.
we all know how much the watchtower abhors "higher education" and that apparently jehovah thinks it is a big waste of time.
at least that is their official stance.
it might come as a shock to you that this month they have started a campaign drive to actually recruit jws who have higher education, specifically those who have legal training.. with all the law suits against them for creating an environment that is friendly to paedophiles, it is thus no wonder that they are in need of solicitors, especially those who are sympathetic towards the cult.. talk about hypocrisy!.
So not only does god need a lawyer, but he needs one that will work for free?
He's all powerful, all knowing, all wise, yet somehow - just keeps getting himself into legal trouble.
i wanted to share a few recent pics of izabella with everyone.
this week marks her one year since her coming home from nicu.
she has been growing and changing so much these last few months in particular.
Love this.
So happy for you and your family. She's got a bright future ahead of her.

You just know that this letter has been written because someone on the GB is on the ganj for pain management. - pale.emperorMy bet's on Lett.
How would we know when he's high though? The man's out of his mind already.
former governing body assistant howie tran has shared his bethel vow of poverty contract.
it reads rather culty.
i think clause number 9 is particularly worrying...to adhere to, not the bible alone, but also the watchtower literature and the governing body.
Never even were asked about, and we signed the same vow. We were explained that it was just a tax thing. I never understood and still don't.
You never understood and you still signed?
