Even if my family would talk to DF'd/DA'd ones I'd find their company to be toxic. So judgemental, closed minded and paranoid about the outside world it'd just frustrate me.I wonder did he leave of his own accord or was he given an ultimatum ?
Maybe he knew it would be intolerable for him to stay in the same household and chose to leave.
I hate the fact that parents kick out their offspring simply because they do not want to be JW`s ,to me that is another form of child abuse.

Going in different directions
by dothemath inwas visiting with some old friends a while ago, and got to hear some interesting updates about their congregation.. there is a new family moved in, from the ukraine, and are very zealous.
when giving their experience (they're quite new in the "truth") they feel strongly that the religion has changed their life.. they were ready to divorce, but from studying the bible, etc., they are now a happy family.. its really a yearbook type example that make a lot witnesses feel vindicated.. on the other extreme, in the same congregation, a teenager just graduating (an elders son) just up and left and moved in with a "worldly" family.
he told his parents he doesn't believe it's the truth, and actually believes in evolution.. he was being "encouraged" to get baptized, but he managed to avoid that.

Gangs brawl in a Birmingham Cinema UK
by punkofnice inhttps://www.thesun.co.uk/news/10409135/birmingham-star-city-fight-evacuated-blue-story-gang/.
i don't normally bother with the gutter press, but this was interesting.. what they didn't show was that the faces of the kids, probably due to their age.. i saw the picture before it was pixelled out.
interesting that the kids with the machettes looked like members of the religion of peace.. just sayin'.. interesting to see what low life scum the film was about.. good grief, can't the jobos be right and armageddon(tm) come?.

All cultures are not the same. Our culture is vastly superior.
I'm gonna have to start using this. That's an excellent statement.

What Did You Do With All Your Meeting Clothes?
by minimus ini literally had dozens of suits.
i still have more dress clothes than anyone i know.
i did give some suits and clothing away and to be honest, i still like wearing a nice suit.. brothers and sisters, are all your “ meeting clothes” still in your closet?
-
pale.emperor
I used to have three suits. Not very good ones. And about 20 ties.
When I left I got rid of them all. Then when the occasion came up to wear a suit (a friends christening) I decided to by a really nice suit. So now I own two really nice ones. A bit expensive, but then the only time I wear a suit nowadays are fancy Christmas do’s and special occasions – so it makes sense to get a nice one.
I have about 4 ties. Again, each one stylish.
I don’t think I’ve worn a suit since last Christmas actually.

The Latest From The Loony Left
by Simon inso apparently, not only can people identify as men or women, regardless of reality, but they've now declared that people can identify as black or white as well!
no word yet from rachel dolezal, who will no doubt be declared a visionary, and sadly michael jackson didn't live long enough to celebrate.. i must say, now that i am a black woman, my views on reparations have completely changed.
y'all owe me some reparations bitches to make up for slavery yo.

First On-Screen Crush?
by Simon inmany years ago, we lived in a world where the one tv in your house might be black and white, perhaps color if you were lucky, but either way the screen was small and the arial on your house would struggle to deliver a decent signal but often fail in a fuzzy mess.
most of the movies you saw were old, there was no home video or rental - you got a chance to see something and then it was gone.
planning your viewing was important to make sure you didn't miss something so you'd carefully scan the tv guide to pick out your favourites ... good job there were only 2 or 3 channels to look through.. but you could still see quality if you went to the movie theatre and there you got to see glorious film on a giant screen (which is only now being equalled quality wise).

For us young boys in 1990s England, it was Jet from Gladiators.
I was only 10! I still remember the funny feelings that didnt make sense.
Cummon, my fellow Brits, who remembers her?

No Need To Preach In Every Country Anymore
by pale.emperor inspeaking to a pimo from my hometown yesterday.
he told me that in the watchtower study (10 nov 2019) regarding “the great tribulation” the elder on the platform said that there’s no need for jws to preach in every country in order to fulfil the prophecy, and therefore the org has already fulfilled that prophecy.
and that there’s nothing else left to wait for now but for “the great tribulation” to come.. gasps of delight came from the audience.. has anyone else heard this?

Who remembers when the internet was evil?

are the witnesses now considered "clergy " ?
by lancelink inyears ago when i was a jw, one of their cornerstone teachings was that they were nothing like babylon the great.
i remember being taught that the witnesses not using any type of clergy class distinction was proof that they had the right religion.. well, recently we had this article in the local paper, and an elder who was no doubt the presiding overseer tried to use the clergy class excuse to get out of answering questions regarding a child abuse case.
here is the statement that really got to me.
-
pale.emperor
Watchtower has always desired to be Clergy.
Check the articles, they always say that they have no “PAID clergy”
Thats correct, lastmanstanding. It's a phrase that slips by the rank and file when they say it. They have a clergy, just no paid clergy.
